how does yahoo chat work? i don't have a computer mic or anything like that, i wish i did. does anyone else played bluegrass around here? if there was a way we could each record separate parts or solos, and then pieced them together it would be cool, but it might not sound good cuz it would be hard to match them up.

It's live playing. Get a microphone and we can have a slide guitar jam, it'd be sweet.

Well, it's not like their is any intenisty growth, or anything really different, it's just long.
Hey Badmoon is Warts And All (vol 1 & 2) by Moe any good?
Well, there's actually three volumes, and I would reccomend you buy something by moe. that is recorded first. But out of those, the best would be Volume 2. I recommend you just go to Nugs and look at their bootlegs.

oh man Badmoon I downloaded that song Liberty and I was expecting like the Bluegrass song Liberty (you know which one i'm talking about right?), i was very suprised. great song anyways though, i'd comment on the great bass, but then i'd feel bad for leaving out the cool piano, and guitar parts. great song.
Oh and Woodstock, I can't send you that John Mayer version of The Wind Cries Mary, I used to have it on Kazaa and i realized that it got deleted when I got rid of Kazaa. Sorry about that.
Have I told you guys that last night was the best night of my life? Life is great. I love you guys.
Aw, too bad. His Bold As Love performance was still pretty good.

May I ask why it was the best night of your life?
K well I used to go out with this girl, and it was very serious...we dated for about a year or so and I had never liked a girl as much as I liked her. Unfortunately she moved away, and we lost touch. I was really wondering what happened to her, since it's been like two years since we talked...
so I was at a party Saturday night, everyone was drinking but I wasnt in the mood, so I asked a complete stranger (the only guy i didn't know at the party) if he wanted to come get stoned with me, my treat. So we are smoking up in a car listening to some Pink Floyd, and it turns out he just moved to my city. It turns out he went to the same city and school that my old gf went to, and they were good friends. He told me they talked all the time, and she still talked about me nonstop and told him what a great guy I am. So now me and her are starting to talk again and things haven't been better in my life. Plus the party was fun as hell.
Note: I notice that was very off topic, but since some of you asked, I felt I had to answer. Classic Rock value of that post: getting stoned to Pink Floyd is fun.
edit- I haven't heard the complete Derek and the Dominoes album, so I went with LA Woman.

Awww.... thats all sweet and stuff. *teary eyed emo moment*
Getting stoned to Pink Floyd is fun indeed. I don't really do drugs anymore, but something on my list of things to do before I die is to go to an opera on acid. I think that would be the most unbelievable experience ever.
I also voted LA Woman. I'm not a big fan of Layla (and other assorted love songs) They butchered Little Wing so badly...

I preffer their version of Little Wing than Hendrix. It sound more 'epic,' though that's not the precise word for it. It's longer, but I think it's good.
And Derek and the Dominoes are Eric Clapton (guitar, vocals), Bobby Whitlock (organ), Carl Radle (bass) and Jim Gordon (drums). Duane Allman was a part-time Domino and Dave Mason played with them once. This was just after Blind Faith. When Clapton was touring with Blind Faith, he started to hang out with their opening act, Delaney and Bonnie, whose other members of the Dominoes were the backing band. Later on, when Delaney and Bonnie were in England, Clapton joined them and performed as a band known as "Friends," as a way to not get noticed (Harrison played with them too, after Clapton suggested it to be a way to be on stage but without the burden of being a Beatle).
They all played on Harrison's All Things Must Pass and then became a band. Before a show, they asked them to name the band so they can be properly introduced. They had given Eric the nickname of "Derek" and one of them said, "Call us Derek and the Dynamics." But when they were being introduced, the guy called them "Derek and the Dominoes" and it stuck.
When their album, Layla and other assorted love songs, was released, it didn't chart the list because not to many people ventured to buy a double LP from a band they didn't know. This was because Eric Clapton refused to put his name of it. When it wa re-released and everyone knew it was Clapton it was a whole different story.
Like Blind Faith before them, they only had one studio album, since the second one blow up in their faces (because Eric and Jim Gordon had a row, and there were a lot of drugs and alcohol around).
I love the album. Very good. A lot of blues stuff, and mellow, yet still having a certain edge to it.
PS: Today I bought my first Clapton shirt at Hot Topic. It's awesome.

I think Sgt Peppers is better then Abbey Road...but i think thats mostly because i have a thing for adoring all concept albums ever made in rock n roll. Abbey road is great though, i dont like Octapusses garden much, but i love I Want You and The End. I think most people that arent so familiar with the Beatles look at that album and want it over Sgt Peppers because
a)the historical Album Art
b)Come Together is on it
but i dont stop them from picking it over beatles albums, its just as great

Meh, at some points. If Blind Faith would have rehearsed more then it would have been a much better album. I was also let down when Clapton didn't sing on "Pressence of the Lord." His vocals would have made it much better (note, I'm not saying Winwood didn't do a great job with the vocals, I just think that Clapton would have fitted the song better).
And if you're looking for a good blues guitar, you can't argue that Derek and the Dominoes is what you would pick up.

I actually might have to agree with you. I didn't really understand the album until a few months ago. I bought it, and listened to it twice and didn't like it. Then a waited a while, and I listened to it again...and suddenly it was my favourite Beatles album. One of the best albums ever.
And to everyone who is arguing about Crossroads...it is a cover song! The whole reason an artist does a cover of a song is because they feel they have something different to add to it, give it a new twist. If everyone made their covers sound exactly like the original, what would be the point of even redoing the song? I like both versions of Crossroads, and they are definitely different, but it's not like Clapton ruined it. He's just offering his views on how the song could sound, he's not shoving it down your throat.
edit- actually, i really like cover songs. Even if one of the versions is much worse, it's still interesting to see how a band can take a song and change it to make it their own. It seemed to work for Zeppelin.

Well I have had that happen to me. But I never really made a big deal out of it, because it was usually covered by a crappy band anyway. Except for the Chili Peppers version of Sub. Homesick Blues, that one kinda made me think twice why they even bothered covering the song.

Woodstock was held only a few kilometres (metric unit for miles:lol:)) from Bob Dylan's house Big Pink. I think I read, or maybe just imagined that Woodstock was, amongst other things, designed to bring Dylan out of his reclusive lifestyle and back into the world's view.

edit- and I have only heard a few songs by Canned Heat, but I've loved what I've heard. They were also one of Jim Morrisons favourite bands, along with Pink Floyd (pre 1971 of course).

Do you know what's an interesting question to ponder...
You know how people always say famous people aren't dead, like Elvis, Jim Morrison, Tupac etc. If they really faked their deaths, do you think they are dead by now anyways? Like I'm sure Elvis would be, and Jim Morrison defnitely couldn't last much longer the way he was living, hopefully Tupac really did get shot.
anyone ever think about that? Or do you just all beleive they are dead and that's that?

If he wanted to live "the thug life", get involved in gangs and drug deals and violence..then he deserves to be shot. Anyone involved in that kind of stuff deserves to get shot, just to teach them a lesson. It brings down society and causes unneccesary problems for the world, and flushes our hard earned money down the drain. Tupac admitted to be involved in gangs, and carried a gun, and was a suspect in a gang murder. If he was living like that, he wasn't any real use to the world, just a waste of space. He deserved to get shot, it's not my fault he died from his choices in life.
edit- or do you support drive by shootings, prostution, rape, murder, dealing heroin to kids etc etc? If so, I apoligize for being a "****ing asshole."

Nobody "deserves" to die, with a few exceptions.
I'll bet you're a Christian.

I'm the furthest thing from a Christian you've ever seen. Actually, I was born a Christian, but my minister (or whatever you call them) asked my mom if I would just stay at home, because I was too disruptive in Church. So technically I'm supposed to be Christian, but they kinda kicked me out of their religion. Plus they don't support gays.
edit- but hey, sorry for making you angry...opinions are opinions and i suppose i should respect yours, as you should respect mine. but lets stop spamming up this thread with our thoughts and views on things that no longer relate to classic rock. i dont want any more people hating me just because i spammed.

I don't think it's right to say that he deserved to die. As far as we know he was a [mostly] good person and a gifted individual.
Guys, take it to AIM if this is going to become a big argument.

I never wanted to be a part of the religion in the first place, that's why I was bad in church. I don't like having a set list of rules telling me what to beleive in and what not too, I'm not a robot, I can think for myself. I'm not like a satan worshipper or anything, I do admire a lot of the values that religions teach...I just can't be bothered to conform entirely to their views.
It's actually pretty strange how religious a lot of famous musicians are, like Cat Stevens, and even Bob Dylan.
edit- I knew Rock would find his way into our "discussion." Tell ya what, lets make this classic rock related, lets talk about musicians and their religions (or lack of). Bob Dylan was Christian, as is apparent in his Slow Train Coming album. Gotta Serve Somebody is a pretty good song.
Religion isn't really a Canadian thing. Barely anyone I know is religious.

Bob Marley was indeed a devout Rastafari. I should think about converting.
(I'm an agnostic/deist, for the record)
