I haven't ever noticed a difference, but I've never looked for one, or listened to them back to back. I need to find my copy of DSOTM.

The newest edition, 30th anniversary, is a SACD, rather than just cd. If you get a SACD player, its supposed to make it sound much better, like surround sound or something. But the player is like a hundred something.

i just got an emerson lake and palmer greatest hits album, jimi hendrix live @ woodstock, and bela fleck and the flecktones Live Art from my local used record store. the best part, they were all ten dollars or under. and in great shape. the elp kicks *** so far, and i can't wait to pop in hendrix. of course bela fleck will be sick, he plays banjo. and if that weren't enough he has victor wooten on bass!

Tommy's the son. The deaf, dumb, and blind boy. The story basically documents his extraodinary life, through fame and salvation.

today one of my teachers brought her guitar and a mic and did a little performance for us.
she played a few songs of her own, but she also played 2 beatles songs, blackbird and eleanor rigby. i didn't think anyone could make eleanor rigby half decent on just an acoustic guitar, but she did.
she played Dylan - Knockin on Heavens Door (sang too in tune), a Cat Stevens song (don't know what it's called), Neil Young - Castles Burning (sounded great) and that's about it.
it was annoying because while she was singing her songs, people kept shouting out other songs they wanna hear, which pisses me off cuz people do that when i perform for them as well. can't they just sit there and appreciate good music without trying to ruin it for the performer and everyone else.
other than that it was great.
I always think it's funny when the dumb drunk yells "FREEBIRD!!!".

I always think it's funny when the dumb drunk yells "FREEBIRD!!!".
I was at my friends brothers gig once in a relatively empty bar and some guy (i think one of their not-so-close friends) kept yelling "PLAY FREEBIRD!" and they eventually just said "Ya know what dude!? First of all, were never gonna play freebird. Second of all, Well never consider even listening to freebird, and third of all, We dont even like like freebird, so shut the hell up!"
It was hilorious. I vowed to myself to learn the guitar solo by the end of next year so just incase somebody ever does yell that...me and my band will play and just shut em up.
We got a neighborhood band in our development that play freebird for us everytime they play, but they totally innovate the solo. ITs about 15 minutes of loud guitar soloing, running around in the crowd...buncha drunks.
Well, I've been getting into Pink Floyd a lot more. I've always been a big fan just now more than ever. Also I'm starting to get into a lot of jam bands like, String Chees Incident, moe., Keller Williams, and many more.

But heres a question on that one great song by bands...
Is it the band that makes the song good enough to define them...
Or does the song good enough to define the band?
What do you think?

It depends on the band. If it is a great classic band (like most classic rock bands) then it is likely that they make the song good enough to define them.
But, with lesser bands and their 1 hit wonders, then I believe the second statement, that the song defines the band.
well it was one of their more popular ones
I knows.
But it really is a crappy song, why people like it I have no clue. Give me "Sweet Home Alabama", "Swamp Music", "Gimme 3 Steps" and "Truck Drivin' Man" over Freebird.

What if they just request it to hear it for the first time? I've done that with numerous songs.
Then they should go download it. Radio stations and people playing concerts don't need their ****.
What you do is fine though. Just not if it's a band's most popular song such as Freebird.

Calm down, it's always time for Metallica!
The riff from Is There Anybody Out There by Pink Floyd sounds like Call Of Ktulu by Metallica. And Goodbye Blue Sky has a similar sounding riff to Fade To Black By Metallica. Those two Floyd songs were from the same album and the two Metallica sounds were from the same album.
You guys put two and two together ;)
Metallica ripped off Floyd. Those bastards.
Nice try.
If I don't ****ing keep it on topic it won't stay on topic.

No, but it was a list that I put away awhile ago, and then randomly found on my kitchen table. I put it together to make the assumption that someone bought some of them for me. I could be wrong though.

In about two hours on PBS, there's going to be highlights of the Crossroads Guitar Festival, hosted none other than Eric Clapton, who was mentioned on the first page of this thread. Should rockz0rz all our collective sockz0rz.
