the weird thing is...one time my grandpa came over, and was looking through my record collection. and he was like "oh three dog night, they made some great music."
i was wondering why he commented on them, when i have hundreds of other albums by much better known, and mostly likely more talented bands/artists.

But I guess you could say they have sort of an electric organ sound that has a neat oldies sort of "hollow" (not in a bad way) psychadelic sound. That's the best description I can give, as bad as it may be, addmitedly I haven't heard as much from them as I'd like.

Did Clapton have a lot of solo albums? i've never really looked much into his solo career, and i only own his Slowhand record. Which ones are his best?
when i was shopping yesterday, there were a lot of Clapton greatest hits cds, and i noticed the vast majority of the songs weren't from his solo career.

Well, not neccesarily should have a favorite band, but it's always nice to have one. But you can't blame someone who hasn't found their's.
Kenny Wayne Sheperd is dangerously close to Jeff Healey for my favorite recent blues rock guitarist
But Kenny has boring straight long hair. No mullet or goofy looking jazz guy hair. So he won't go on the avatar.

who do you guys think is the best rock and roll band within these concepts:
1. simple lyrics that are very identifyable to a young teenage audience.
2. upbeat, exciting music that would be fun to dance or party to.
cuz really, isn't that what rock n roll used to be all about? until Dylan, the beatles, and their peers made it more about their own self expression.
i will post my answer after i hear a few of yours.

probably the second best answer, i'm afraid that's where you are wrong my friend.
think about it, it's definitely the Beach Boys.
reason: all of their songs are about the typical 60's (or even now) teenage life. dating, hot rods, surfing (california life), school, friends, they even wrote about getting your car taken away by your parents. i mean come on, every song they wrote was basically all about being a teenager.
just my opinion though, i suppose

They're commonly refered to as Punk. But they are much more. The only thing about them that is really Punk, is their attitude. I actually see a bunch of Country/Folk influence, and definitley CCR influence. And their lyrics have a lot of witt to them.
"Jackass" used their song "Corona" for their theme.

Jesus taught about love. The Beatles taught about love.
However, I'm not religious, so obviously I'm gonna say the Beatles is better.
And, even though no one really wants to talk about, while we're on subject:
Even though I'm a classic rock guru/nutcase, I really love Metallica, though I think most other metal blows. I'm wondering why I think this way, if they did something similar to what people 10 years earlier did (I'm talking 80s Metallica btw), and if other people think the same way.

Badmoon's Bluegrass Lesson of The Day:
----------------------------------------------
The insane guitar styling of Doc Watson could most likely take almost any American guitarist in the first half of the 20th Century.
is he a solo artist? or part of a group? i'm assuming he's some sort of blugrasser (if that's a real term).
Probably. I'm not a big pre-rock buff.
Though amercian would rule out a lot of classical and flamenco guitarists :/

Yeah, earlier player. He was one of the players who was playing Bluegrass before it even had a name. Though, he is not even close to one of the earliest.

Robert Johnson? Tommy Johnson? He could take them, I believe they are about a decade before his prime though.

He is a big name. I have a burnt dics of a bunch of his songs. And many of them are instruments, so it's hard to tell what the names are. But I have one great one for you.
