Cloud 9 has 3 good songs on it, don't get it.
Everyone (and they are correct in thinking this) thinks th ealbum is good because Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne are on it but they are wrong :( It's a disappointment
Really, it has good reveiws.

:\ It's not that good IMO, I'll put it this way- it is absolutely nothing like his earlier solo stuff.
If you like the 80's sounding stuff like Traveling Wilburys and all of the Jeff Lynne produced albums in late 80s early 90s then you'd like it I guess.

ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?
yes i have noticed, but most of the kids are people who heard the radio version of pink floyd's the wall so they go out and buy a t-shirt and say zeppelin and floyd are their favorite bands. there are some people who actually know what they're talking about however, which is good. i love older bands like floyd, zeppelin, the doors, grateful dead..my dad got me into all that stuff.

We need to ask Bonzo to delete his post so they will (n00bs) stop quoting this.
I asked ken to add that this is now a discussion thread. He did but people might not understand that.

So Badmoon, clarify for RockandRoll the origin of your user name. ie. CCR
Okay, the real origin of my name isn't from CCR. It's from Keith Moon from The Who. Back when I played drums I really liked his playing, and my friends and I wanted to start a band (Not in a serious way). And since we all liked The Who, and since the name was fitting, somone suggested "The Moons". Well, that was to bland, so I added "Bad" to it. In time, and after a small amount of time of being friends, we weren't anymore. So, I took the name.

Classic rock is just music from the 60s and 70s. It could be prog rock, country rock, blues rock (most if it was), folk, rock hard rock or any type of rock but it's a certain sound that has been mainly lost in the "rock" music of today.
So yes, Floyd is classic rock and prog rock and so is King Crimson.

It will be called "post-classic rock". The first 25 years or so of rock will always be classic.
Besides, the overall sound of 90s rock and 70s rock is much different. It's not the same kind of music.

were you guys saying The Alan Parson Project sounded a lot like Floyd?
because if so, it may be because Alan Parson was the studio engineer (or something like that) for some of Floyds albums. I think he was for DSOTM, he helped create some of those cool sounds. I have one of The AP Project's albums, but i haven't listened to it yet. I think it's got like a big egyptian eye on it.

last night me and two of my friends went to this party, and we went there, and it was a bunch of like clean cut guys who werent even talking to eachother. they were just sitting there staring at the floor, slowly drinking lite beers. the music was so horrible, after about ten minutes i started laughing at it, and they all glared at me (still not talking) and my other two friends burst out laughing.
this is the strange part: all three of us got up and ran out the door at the same time! when we got outside we were all like "dude i was just going to run out and ditch you other two cuz that music was so bad." the music was too bad for us all to bear.
so we went back to his SUV and sat in the back, with his huge sound system surrounding us and we listened to DSOTM. it was heaven.
whats the best album you guys have listened to lately?

well we had smoked a lot before we got in there, so we were doing pretty well, but the music was like guys singing destiny's child songs or something. we asked if we could light up there, and everyone glared at us and said no. thats about when we ran.
but you didn't answer my question.
The last album I listened was Blues Traveler-Four, and I loved it.
