Bob Dylan-Highway 61 Revisited
good choices!! how much? cds or records? i have the records for l.a. woman and imagine. the only dylan ones i have are blood on the tracks (my personal fave) and slow train coming (slightly disappointing) i've been shopping around for more, but they are all too expensive and/or in bad condition.

thats very cheap for three amazing cd's. i bought a "best of" jethro tull album for almost 30 bucks, just to add to my collection. the songs on it werent even their best, in the liner notes Ian Anderson clearly apoligizes and says that they had to fit exactly twenty songs onto the cd, so they had to choose songs that would fit, not songs that were their best effort. they also tried to portray all the different eras and genres of music tull was apart of. their eighties stuff didn't dazzle me too much.
edit- maybe we are talking in different money. i am talking canadian.
and to catch up...
my favourite Pink Floyd album is either DSOTM or Meddle, i wasn't as impressed by Animals as i should have been. My favourite zeppelin album is houses of the holy. my favourite solo of all time...hmm, probably anything by David Gilmour, or the solo to Axis Bold as Love.

Animals didn't impress you! oh well.
My favorite solo would have to be the one in All Along The Watchtower-Hendrix version.

i was impressed by the music, just not the overall theme. i was expecting something very grand (is that considered pompous?), after hearing DSOTM and then WYWH. Both those albums had great music, as well as amazing concepts and the overall albums fit together like a painting...animals didn't seem that way with me. The Wall was more of the album i was expecting at the time, with the great plot and all (well when i say at the time, i mean two years ago when i got into Floyd).

what do you guys think is the best written vocals for a song? i dont mean just lyrics, but the melodies and harmonies used? I would say probably Good Vibrations, Bohemian Rhapsody or various songs by Simon and Garfunkel.
edit- i suppose it would be a sin to leave out Great Gig in the Sky..it didn't even need lyrics it was written so well.

Well, of course we need Gambler#4, he's the frame of the plot.

Ya, at my school its all comin back, ive been into the old stuff(more metal and thrash, but i love the guitar in like Zeppelin and Pink Floyd etc...) for quite some time then like last year and a little two years ago people started gettin into old stuff, i always find myself saying "if only i were born in 1965, then i could have lived with the music i love" and now so many people have the nestalgia for classic 60s-80s music its great, there are still the **** kids that listen to rap cuz they think its the cool thing but whatever, im just happy people are noticing how much skill and techique these bands have,or had, and hopefully bands coming up will try to bring those styles back instead of this nu metal stuff, some is okay, and im praying to God they will come and take over the world once again.

I highly reccomend the album 'Beginnings' it's their first two albums, (self title and Idlewild South) in one album, for a great price too. Some great songs are on it, my personal fav. "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" ...but I'd also buy the CD just to listen how beautifully "Don't Want You No More" and "It's Not My Cross To Bear" flow right into each other, pretty much one song with a long intro, but I like it.
