Derek Trucks is one of the greatest slide guitarists ever. Not just talent wise, but knowledge wise. He has reasons why he uses it.

He supposebly wants to get intact with Indian scales, and could only get them through slide. Being that there are no intervals or really exact notes when you lack frets.

classic rock is the real music , no wonder young people (like me) prefer to listen music by led zeppelin , the doors , cream, ccr, pink floyd , black sabbath , rory gallagher , deep purple ...

when you see what band take examples from these classic rock bands => metallica , maiden , pantera, ...

in pantera's "revolution is my name" video they show a zeppelin lp , dimebag dresses up as gene simmons from kiss , ozzy's appearing in the videotoo ...

anathema plays pink floyd covers at there shows , even korn covered the wall ( EVEN KORN ) ,type o negative covers black sabbath on there shows and says " this is music you're parents listend to "

and now I'm am making this to long so nobody will bother reading this ...

it is obvious that it's not a mistery why young people prefer to listen to bands like these instead of all the buII**** that that's playing on radio and tv

ain't nothin wrong with classic rock. the beatles, zepplin, the stones etc. made impacts on the scene that will never be forgotten. whan annoys me are the people that seem to think music just ended with the 70's. there are plenty of good new bands out there too. it's ok to live in the past every now and again, but try not to set up permanent residence there

thickasabrick
11-05-2004, 04:03 PM
ya alice cooper was the only real band/artist that has come to regina in a long time. me n my friends camped out for front row, but we didnt realize the internet is faster than us. we got second row and he kept giving out awesome stuff (canes, riding crops, tophats etc) but there was a "little person" right in front of us, so everything was just handed to him for some reason.

and i bought an alice cooper thong and wore it on my head to see if i could make him break character and laugh, but he wouldnt change his look at all everytime he looked at me.

First, When do you guys think Neil Neil Young did Better, as part of CSNY of solo.

Second, Which is better CSNY, or do you think they were better off without Neil

Tough questions. I'm gonna have to say Neil solo was better, because there was more of it =p. Even with CSN, his work didn't sound much different than his solo stuff. Even his solo stuff, like Alabama for example, sounds very much like a CSN(Y) recording.

I'd have to say pretty close to equal again. Because they all pretty much wrote their own songs, then only difference between CSN and CSNY is that CSN doesn't have Neil Young..=p

And my favourite Yardbirds song is "Heart full of Soul"

Also, some cool classic rock-type movies worth a look: Hedwig And The Angry Inch, Velvet Goldmine, Still Crazy.

Your right you do all that. All I was saying was that you sometimes act as though your musical taste is superior to everyone elses(In some cases it obviously is, but in others, it is opinion.) And I called you above everyone else because you say things like "you, Jpj, and the other non-originals", it just came off as though you think because you were an original your better than everyone else. the other night i started giving this guy guitar lessons. he was fairly old, but i didnt make any comments, even though most of my students are under sixteen.

he said when he was young, him and his friend would also go to this club to watch the sexy go go dancers, and there was always this black guitarist there. he said he saw the guitarist there like about ten times, but he was always just watching the dancers, instead of the band.

he found out after, that the guitarist was hendrix...and he had no clue.

the other night i started giving this guy guitar lessons. he was fairly old, but i didnt make any comments, even though most of my students are under sixteen.

he said when he was young, him and his friend would also go to this club to watch the sexy go go dancers, and there was always this black guitarist there. he said he saw the guitarist there like about ten times, but he was always just watching the dancers, instead of the band.

he found out after, that the guitarist was hendrix...and he had no clue.

what a waste of being born in the sixties.

besides 3MTA3, was anyone else here old enough to see all the old rockstars in their prime?

....sexy go go dancers, poor poor Hendrix.
and the answer is no. (for me anyways...how sad :upset: )

.....my birth>the death of good rock :upset:
