Scratch that, it wasn't Bungle in the Jungle. I just listened to it, and it was another song that was played before the one song I'm trying to figure out. Good song nevertheless.
I remember one of the lines in like the chorus of this mystery song was "Hey Man, what's your plan?" or something along those lines.

yikes, so behind...1. in moby dick, bonham just does the bass, floor, tom triplets for a couple minutes...it just gets louder and louder and faster..insane..Moon's bass drums were awesome..he had the double bass, but he hardly ever did any real patterns..he just hit them both at the same time =p
2. the greatest driving song EVER is green onions by booker t and the mg's. it's just so cool...

You would be surprised at just what CDs records etc. your parents have, thanks to my dad I have never bought any led zep or mark Knopfler.
Do you classify Knopfler as classic, either way I like him, he is coming to Australia but only doing one show so iits real expensive, hopefully I will somehow end up going.

i really like Pink Floyd, I think their album Dark Side of the Moon is excellent. Also Led Zep are really great, jimi hendrix, the doors, the eagles, bachman/turner overdrive, zztop, some of queen, metallica, neil young and crosby/stills/nash/young, eric clapton...can't beat the old music man. I mean most of today's rock (unless it's old bands that are stil going like The Cure) are just really annoying. They all have the same chord progressions, same adolescent guy singers with screechy whiny voices complaining about something, and all you hear are distorted guitars and punk drumbeats. The Darkness are all right..can't think of any other new bands that have any great talent or sound.

I saw the Australian Pink Floyd Show, for anybody interested, and they really know how to put on a concert.
Even though there internacional and tour in mostly arenas, they got some crappy theatre here in Philadelphia that ive never heard of before, but still was very impressive. They covered the entire DSOTM album, Played Shine On (parts I-V), Welcome to the machine, WYWH, a few songs from the wall, and about one from every other album, except a few. They had some of Floyds material nailed in songs like Us and Them, Breathe, ANother Brick, and Run Like Hell, and the last song was COmfortably numb, which they played an incredible guitar solo for about 10 minutes. The vocalist for the Great Gig was outragous, beyond belief, and since the room was so small, everything together was frikkin loud as hell. They tied the Pink Kangaroo into alot of their visual effects, like the cover to WYWH, those random hyrogliphic symbols, and inflated a huge Kangaroo during one of their songs.
My only issues were that their wasnt much action going on, aside from the lasers and stuff, since the members just stood their the whole time and did their thing...and the audience loved it, but you could barely tell since they just sat quietly in their seats most the time, except for some crazy dude acroos the row frikkin headbanging to every song, from money to Welcome to the machine. They didnt play any songs from animals, which i sort of wanted to hear.
but overall, id say their worth watching. Tix were only 37 bucks for a really good view, and theyre probably the best thing to see sincet he real floyd wont be reuniting anytime soon (dont give me any of that Q magazine crap)

Hmm...I can't think of anything :upset:

What does everyone think of odd instuments being used in rock? Like Tull's flute or The Grateful dead's banjo playing. Or even the bagpipes in ac/dc's "it's a long way to the top (if you want to rock n roll)".
I personally think that the reason why today's rock music is slipping is because of lack of addition instruments. It's just guitar, bass drums now.
Discuss the advantages in Rock music of uncommon instruments to it.
I think Tull's flute adds a lot to their music. I honestly don't think Thick As a Brick would be nearly as good without it.

I don't even think it's catchy though, as I'd be prepared to listen to it otherwise...seriously, stuff like The Darkness, out of newer bands, and Queen, out of older ones, fill that role so much better that I don't see any need for Jet. And they are just so shamelessly unoriginal that I'd rather listen to the song they ripped off.
ya thats true. the darkness arent exactly original, they havent done anything new in their music...but at least they have talent and arent afraid of showing it, unlike most bands around now who even if they have talent, they dont really show it.

anyone here read poetry just because you know it inspired a musician you like?
i have read a lot of Arthur Rimbauds poems because Jim Morrison was a big fan of his. and today i went and got out a collection of Dylan Thomas poems because thats where bob dylan took his last name from.
any other poets/artists you guys know who have inspired someone you like?
edit- may sound lame, but if it worked for them, it might work for me.

slowhand
10-26-2004, 05:13 PM
Well, the Naked version is a cleaner recording. The only real difference comes in the solo. It changes a little from both versions, and the Naked version's guitar in the solo has a cleaner sound, more like what they would have done if they actually didn't want the album Let It Be to be as much as ubdubbed as it could be.
The 'for though they may be parted' part is where the bass comes in. Maybe what you're hearing is some sounds overlapping each other.
