They are good, but they aren't well known enough, unfortunately.
On a completely unrelated note, I just realized the Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel is one of my favorite songs ever.

I wonder which Who I should recommend...try these
My Generation, Pinball Wizard, Amazing Journey, The Seeker, We Don't Get Fooled Again, Substitute, Baba O'riley, Slip Kid...
Personally I prefer the earlier Who stuff, but most people like the stuff I just suggested.

For some songs for The Doors, i'd suggest:
Back Door Man*
Break on Through
Hello, I Love you
Light my fire
Love street*
Peace frog
Riders on the storm*
Roadhouse blues*
People are strange
The soft parade*
* = personal favorites.
For the doors maybe, Light My Fire, The End, LA Women, Roadhouse Blues, Strange days, People Are Strange, When the music's over...
All of that good stuff.

ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?
o and for u classic rock fans, the crime of the new century was that the Yardbirds new CD, Birdland, recieved no attention at all. that deserved a grammy, or 6.
so are there any other classic rock fans out there, and even if ur not, have u been noticing somewhat of a revival in interest for that sort of music?
i think it is because the people who used to love classic rock when it was new are now parents and maybe showed it to there kids

this is a little off on a tangent, but I don't know if the Doors could have gone on and still been so revolutionary. they would have either turned into crap (aerosmith), or (stay with me) they wouldn't have made the same music if they hadn't done drugs and stuff. For example: Syd barrett would not have gone crazy if he didn't drop so much acid, but Pink floyd would not have been the same. It's a similar situation with Nirvana.

How many times have i heard a kid at school play the intro to sweet home alabama. I then try and proceed by playing the intro to sweet home chicago by Robert Johnson, I am not good enough though.
To sum it up for anyone who doesn't know their ****... Neil Young insults Alabama in his song "Alabama",http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/ALABAMA-lyrics-Neil-Young/D42785DD66B241814825690D002BA002
Skynard get's pissed because of course that's where they're from, and it's sort of like a little war between them. This is show in the lyrics to "sweet home alabama".
"Well i heard mister young sing about her. Well, I heard ole neil put her down. Well, I hope neil young will remember. A southern man don't need him around anyhow".
I think Neil has more wordpower than skynard :p. Also I think his music's better but i'm not one to pick sides.

^^ Andy Warhol produced the VU's first album The Velvet Underground & Nico, but besides that and adding Nico he did nothing but tack his name on to their album and shows for a while to help them gain fame. He was a modern artist and filmmaker. He actually drew the lips logo for the rolling stones as well as the banana cover for The VU.

My Opinion On It: Stairway is the Best Zeppelin song. This is comming from a guy who has heard all of their songs. It is literally miles in front of the rest. I main judgement on the reason why you guys are bashing it is because it is popular.
Popular songs will be called overated. Maybe it is the most n00b Led Zeppelin song but it is still by far the best. Wouldn't we all love to say "Stairway is ****ing overated, Rain Song and No Quarter owns it hardcore, **** noobs and their stairway obsession".
Maybe the fact that it is overplayed to the max puts a bias on the whole view of Stairway, people can call it boring. But looking impartially, at lyric, musical composition and just the whole piece in general, I believe it is their finest work. Stop bashing it just to be different.
btw: Who ever says you have to wait 6 minutes of boredom for the last 2 minutes of good stuff is retarded.
i know this was many pages ago but id just like to say i wasnt bashing it. i never said it was a bad song i just it wasnt their best. also im not saying that just so i can be different i truly believe it was not their best song, the rain song and no quarter most definitely own it.

Don't worry, you were right in the first place.
It has nothing to do with being different, the first 6 minutes of stairway are boring, regardless of the fact that it gets played on the radio.
that's because i'm not in it yet.

Truth is kids, im 13 and i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, van halen, black sabbath, the doors, and bands like them. Listening to the solo in "let it be" gave me chills. Anyway, not all young kids listen to crap. Well.. lots of them do, you just have to look for the ones not being total idiots.

Yesh Im also a teen in High School and I am listen to classic (good) music. Don't get me wrong, there are some great bands today but they are few and far apart. I blame the lack of new Rock bands on rap, but thats another topic for another day. Bands I listen to:
Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Jimi Hendrix
Eric Clapton
Kansas
Lynard Skynard
U2
Pink Floyd
Rolling Stones
Creedance Clearwater Revial
The Who
The list goes on and on, and this list is in no particular order, its just whatever came to my head. Not bad for a Senior in High School. Rock On and Semper Fi!
Nice :thumb:. You don't see many teenage CCR fans anymore. You're alright in my book :)

well i think ive been on these forums for a half a year now, i think thats a good head start.
I used to be in the Drums and Percussion forums, but that place sucked. The same questions are asked over and over again. At least ill learn something useful here.
And to get on topic of something at all...Who here has the album Quadrophenia by The Who? Ive been listening to it alot lately and think its one of the most underated albums around. Lost alot of recognition since Tommy was the first Rock Opera around, but i think this one is better. The last three songs to the album are such a great outro I want to listen to the whole thing again...but dont have time. Im probably gonna do a CD review on it in those forums, after im 100% on what every song means, more specifically the last ones.
I think this is the last album Keith Moon made before he died too. That sucks. I love that guy, he was frikkin insane.
