last night i watched Listed's top 40 albums of the last twenty years...i was kinda disappointed. right away i figured out some that would be top ten and i was right, although i didnt agree with the order they went in. Smells like Teen Spirit was number one..i was kinda mad, even though i figured it would be top ten.

It says "Classic Albums". I wanted to get the Pompeii DVD but they ran out of them :(

Don't get the Live at Pompeii DVD. It was edited so horribly. The director ruined it. Try to find the original version on VHS. I haven't found it yet, but I'm still looking.

Also how is the DSOTM one? I was thinking about getting that, but didn't know what it was about.

Yeah there definetly has been a revival in classic rock recently. Personaly I'm into just about everything that is rock and metal, from led Zepplin and The Beatles to Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mettalica (especialy their old stuff) and Dream Theatre but NOT Slipknot and Korn.I even like some jazz, reggae and blues stuff

Rock and metal music rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:) Thanks for saving me money.

The DVD, it goes into some detail about the songs, and how they were made. They also play some parts of the songs, Gilmour plays some of the solo for "Time" and a few other songs. Roger also plays some songs such as "Money". I really wish the DVD was a bit longer though :(

It was worth the $10 though :thumb:

Who or what do you think broke up the Beatles, Yoko or different ways?

It's a matter of fact, the Beatles broke up because they were going different places. Even if Yoko wasn't there, they were bound to break up. George had left the group before, he was tired of the McCartney and Lennon (but mostly McCartney at this point) dominance in the group. He had an incredible amount of song, and one or two in an album wasn't enough for him. He only came back to finish 'Let It Be' and 'Abbey Road' was made to make up for the not-so-good album that was 'Let It Be'

It's sad. Without the Beatles there was no way to stop disco.

i had a song on my old computer that was called swan song...it was just like a live cut of page kinda jamming on an acoustic. i dont know if swan song was actually the title or if someone just called it that because it didnt have a name though. it was a good song but i can't find it anymore.

edit- im surprised at how many bands actually signed to swan song records.

I can kinda see the revival happening, but me, my family, and most of my friends have always loved classic rock.

I was raised on the beatles and the doors.

Nobody REALLY gets into classic rock. The whole "revival" is kind of a fad.

The revival, if there is any, is the creation of the annoying Stairway to Heaven kids that go out and buy Zeppelin t-shirts.

I loved it when I wore my Doors shirt and a kid goes up to me and says

Who the hell are the doors?

Edit:

Do you know what I love?

When a certain type of music is popular, all of a sudden it's the best thing to happen since sliced bread.

Some guy told me that the guitarist for Korn is better than Eric Clapton.

Kids have NEVER heard of Eric Clapton :amaze:

Because things like that put Stairway to Heaven instead of Achilles Last Stand. Often times I will find that some of the best songs aren't on the compilations. Also a new thing with me is that I like having the actual CD and I like to listen to the album in its orginal order.

Plus with bands like Pink Floyd, its sometimes hard to have some songs and not others. For exmaple taking Another Brick In the Wall Part 2 but not the songs around it does not work.

I actually think Stairway is the best rock song ever, or it's up there. It's just kind of embarassing for a true classic rock fan to enjoy the song, becuase so many of those kinds of kids just kill it. It's a shame. And it's not like some little thing. My Opinion On It: Stairway is the Best Zeppelin song. This is comming from a guy who has heard all of their songs. It is literally miles in front of the rest. I main judgement on the reason why you guys are bashing it is because it is popular.

Popular songs will be called overated. Maybe it is the most n00b Led Zeppelin song but it is still by far the best. Wouldn't we all love to say "Stairway is ****ing overated, Rain Song and No Quarter owns it hardcore, **** noobs and their stairway obsession".

Maybe the fact that it is overplayed to the max puts a bias on the whole view of Stairway, people can call it boring. But looking impartially, at lyric, musical composition and just the whole piece in general, I believe it is their finest work. Stop bashing it just to be different.

btw: Who ever says you have to wait 6 minutes of boredom for the last 2 minutes of good stuff is retarded.

Im 16 and i live in Adelaide, South AUstralia. No one, i have ever met, under 40 ever talks about classic rock. I started to download(sorry, but i did) some hendrix, and i was told by my dad to get all along the watchtower, which i mistakenly got the original by Bob Dylan, and developed a taste for Dylan, Clapton, and a bit differently though Zeppelin and Floyd.
