Tomorrow is the Aim album-trade so we should try it another time.

I can't, I've been avoiding my homework as usual. It's almost 10 on the east coast too, so I should go do that.
If anyone wants to talk to me on Aim, my screen name is lunch998.

Augh, everybody I know holds off their homework.
I do it first thing :thumb:.
Then again, my parents force me too....
So have I made my point? Or are we still going to debate a pointless arguement?
Why not debate which one had more influence or more talent? Not which one is better?

MalcolmYoungRock

I think what we should do is we should do one of those band vs band things.
Once we go to the point where we can't debate any longer about a band we pick a winner then get a new band.
Something like that..
Edit: Or we can also do it like that
Debate on 2 bands and which had the most influence and then we move on to another band to debate with the band that won or had the "most influence"

The point of debating it with members of this forum is to get intelligent responses about influence and talent, not have people say "Zeppelin is better because Jimmy Page Rules!"

Yea me too. Anyways, I'm out, peace guys.
I'm just saying that debating which band is better is stupid. No good could come of it. Everyone has their own opinons and neither side could ever be right. So why not debate something worthwhile?
edit: see ya.
RockAndRoll
09-16-2004, 08:58 PM
We could always set something up like they have in the Politics forum...
Pick teams for a debate, first a member from one team posts then the other.. And there could be 3 rounds or something, each member posting once per round. And we could do that right here in the forum.
Why not debate which one had more influence or more talent? Not which one is better?
Well i suppose the 'whos better' sorta encompases influence and talent.
DVG.
MalcolmYoungRock
09-16-2004, 08:58 PM
Then again, on the "Which band had more influence" debate, people can just argue that "Led Zeppelin had the most influence because they had Jimmy Page and he R0x0rs" Then again a debate is all opinionated.
Badmoon
09-16-2004, 08:59 PM
Okay, I'm here now.
We're not debating to see who's better. We're debating just for the sake of arguing against one of your peirs about a topic that is serious to both of you. So, some great opinions can arise.
We can debate several bands in one session.
We need to pick teams, but I'm not sure who's in.
No it doesn't, who's better is who makes the better music. And music is subjective, everyone has their own tastes, so nobody would ever be correct.

Whiteroom, I love the sound of his bassdrum on this I wish I could reproduce it
Magic Bus, Original, the song just isn't the same without it
Mississipi Queen, I love this song, I think it's use of cowbell is overshadowed by BOC
Traintime, the drums and harmonica make this song
I shot the Sheriff, in covers of this song the drums help keep the original feel
Good times bad times, great bass drum use
How many more times, just a really great part
Ah i'll probably add more later but I think this is a good list to start with.

ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?
o and for u classic rock fans, the crime of the new century was that the Yardbirds new CD, Birdland, recieved no attention at all. that deserved a grammy, or 6.
so are there any other classic rock fans out there, and even if ur not, have u been noticing somewhat of a revival in interest for that sort of music?
The "revival" is great, don't get me wrong, but, there are alot of fakes out there. I saw a kid at school with a Led Zeppelin shirt on. I asked him if he was a fan. He replied "I love that guy." Thats the kind of stuff that pisses me off.

Fire, doesn't everybody love this one?
Dazed and Confused, Especially the end of the solo
Aja, the end just amazing
Come together, everybody knows this part
Good lovin, just has a cool beat that goes with the music

Mississipi Queen, I love this song, I think it's use of cowbell is overshadowed by BOC

Hey guys! So a couple of friends and I are planning to cover a Classic Rock song at a school event. Which of these do you guys think will really play on our older teachers' bias(they're the judges): "One of These Nights" The Eagles, "Hotel California" The Eagles, "Behind Blue Eyes" The Who, "Rock n' Roll" Led Zeppelin, or "Layla" (original) Cream?
Broken Arrow
09-18-2004, 08:17 PM
Layla was done by Derek and the Dominoes anyways.......Do Hotel California or Rock and Roll thats what mainstream teachers like.
Against Miik!
09-18-2004, 08:18 PM
My favorite of those is Hotel California, but I don't know if you could pull that off well. I really don't know how good you are, but it's a tough song to do live, especially with the vocals. I'd say Layla or the Who would be the easiest to do based on diffculty of vocals, but if you could do one of the Eagles songs, that would be awesome.
