Well screw it, lets get back to topic jeez...Yeah, I love classic rock Clapton, Beatles, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, Eagles, Kansas, and all of that when I say that to the normal 'guy' mostly wiggers down here in Florida and they ask me how am I suppose to dance the music and is not neccessarily to dance, I mean come on music is supposed to make you feel special in a way is not just for dancing, classic rock is the foundation of all rock and music, The Beatles and Elvis formed rock who ever thinks any other way well, classic rock will always be history.

Classic rock is not the foundation of all rock and music.
themightyquinn23
08-17-2004, 07:27 PM
Why is that?
"No dude, this guy has so much more emotion in his solos"
"No dude, you're way off, this guy has twenty millon times the emotion"
Who cares how much emotion is in a solo? The only emotion I care about in music is in the singing and lyrics.

That is a very true statement i've thought long, and hard about it

Do you play guitar?
Eric Clapton is the king of emotional playing of course. Also a very good emotional singer. The guy is emotional dangit.
I'm debating whether healey is an emotional player with myself. He certainly has emotonal lyrics but it seems like he doesn't feel it in guitar. He barely has any slow solos.

One of the best examples of this is Sublime's 40 oz to Freedom album.

I just meant that the beatles (and lennon) convey most emotion and melody in their singing rather than playing, and do it the best.

Boston Songs To Look Into:
Peace Of Mind
More Than A Feeling
Don't Look Back
ForePlay/Longtime
Smokin'
Walk On
Let Me Take You Home Tonight
Feelin Satisfied
Mostly all their stuff on the debut is great. Don't Look back was good but was lacking from the 1st album. 3rd Stage is a bit too corney for my liking but if you like it then cool. And Walk On only has one good song, and that's Walk On. And Corperate America is just garbage. Notice the decline on album goodness as they went on.

first of all classic rock is about all i listen to. there are new bands today that i like, metallica, red hot chilli peppers, 311, the darkness, and jet are about it though. lately too i have noticed alot of wasted talent in bands. take creed for instance. ok band but i have one thing wrong with them. they r a rock band tryin to be part of a rap world cliche, meaning they will never reach the height of there talent unless they drop there bull**** and just start rockin out.and untill bands like creed start rockin out, in my opinion in the classic rock style, 1. they will still be a mediocre band 2. rap music will remain popular 3. rock n roll will die. people wat we need is a musical revolution. get the **** out of our cd players and lets start rockin. who the hell is with me?? peace
I'm content with the current scene. The allmans, gov't mule, muse, Kenny wayne shepperd (sp?), Jeff Healey (coming out with newerm bluesier stuff), many classic rock bands are still going.
Music's doing just fine. I think we need t olet music evolve (sp?). Love the classics but accept the new music.

Riff to Smells Like Teen Spirit=Riff to More Than A Feeling
Just because Cobain said it in an interview doesn't mean it's true, it means more of it's false. If you listen, the strumming patterns are different and the intervals between the notes are different. God knows how many bands have used that similar chord progression before Boston and even after Nirvana.
As for Boston, I would agree that they are Good, not great and up there with the likes of Pink Floyd, The Who, Led Zeppelin and such. But for you guys, I highly suggest you take a listen to "Hitch A Ride", one of the best solos in Classic Rock.

I never read that in an interview, I just assumed.
I highly suggest you take a listen to "Hitch A Ride", one of the best solos in Classic Rock.
If I had a nickel for every time i've heard that, I could buy all of boston's albums and have more of an accurate opinon :)

I only really work from 3-6 pm.
And I have my own radio, and my collection of 200 CD's, and I've made it clear that I won't turn off my radio for anyone, and nobody fcuks with me. If I want to play Slayer when I have a born-again christian sitting behind me (which I do), then tough.

h'ok.
Black Sabbath - More 'classic metal'
Motley Crue - Hair Metal
Sex Pistols - Punk
Dead Kennedys - Punk
Ramones - Punk
Clash - Punk
Musically, although the four punk bands above are all 'classic punk', They CANNOT compare in terms of musicianship to CR. Seriouly, 1/2 that stuff is power chords. And the Ramones? Come on. DKs are semi-ok, but Jellos voice drives me crazy. The pistols are a great band for attitude and the clash are probably the best 'tr00 punk attitude' band on that list.

Ac/dc is the number one classic rock gateway band. Everybody's going to love them and get into classic rock. Maybe a little Zeppelin and a few other hard rockish bands but also have some light stuff and they're hooked. Then they get into lighter rock but not really light like The rolling stones and CSNY. Then onto stuff like the grateful dead and The Doors, then onto folkish stuff, prog and pure blues.
But it all starts with that hard rock ac/dc sound.

Because he does it all, and is just an enigmatic icon and a good person. He's the man behind The Grateful Dead, Jam Bands, Country Rock, Bluegrass Rock, ect...
He sung well, had a great musical sense, wrote great, played fabulous electric/acoustic guitar, pedal steel guitar, banjo, ect...
I don't know about rock god. But he is a music god (there are a bunch of music gods). Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton come to mind as other music gods. Dylan for his songwriting skills and clapton for being the greatest emotional guitarist.
Can anybody else think of more music gods?

Anybody like Hendrix. They just seem to glow when they are on stage.
Hendrix rocks as we all know. One of (not the greatest) guitarists of all time. My favorite album is electric ladyland. Everybody always says that Are you experienced is his best because of purple haze. I think that the music is just generally better on electric ladyland.
Anyone else agree?
