Seeing as this is given as the answer in lots of threads I thought it could probably go in here. It's speed building/exercises btw.

I wanna ask something, but I dunno if I'm asking it in the wrong thread. Here goes... Well, I'm beginner on the guitar, so I do beginner stuff. But from time to time I attempt stuff that is waaay out of my league. Am I doing something wrong by doing that?

But no, that's a fine thing to do, just don't get downhearted when you can't manage stuff.

A really cool site for the beginner. It has a "virtual guitar" that shows you all the chords, plays them for you, allows you to make up your own chords, hear what chords would sound like on different frets, what they'd sound like with a capo, electric/acoustic. Really useful site.

Hi all,

I need your advice about sheet music for guitar that would be for beginners and would have a taste of spanish music. I bumped into the sheet music of spanish nights (I guess a simplified version) and would like more of the same.

Thanks.

Yeah... you'll have to make a thread in the beginners section. Looking at your post count, I'd say you wern't able to when you tried. These forums only allow users to make threads 24hrs after signup. This is for answers to F.A.Q.s not for questions themselves:chug:

I was looking through the various links and I couldn't find any that would point to my particular question.

I have basically hit a wall in my playing. I can play pretty much as I wish in terms of scales, modes, arpeggios, etc. My issues are coming from picking now. I spent about 3 months building up my scales, modes, and other lick vocabulary but I am having a tough time getting alternate picking on chords and palm muting chords. I can build the chords, but when it comes to switching up the picking or even straight down and up picking as the case with the song I am working on, I tend to lose a ton of time and I can't even get it close to how the song sounds.

Is there a proper guide to give me some advice on improving this? I'm really frustrated because I can finally tab songs by ear and learn songs by ear, but I can't play them because once I get to anything involving alternately picked chords or palm muting, I am screwed.

Requiem

:confused:your problem is alternate picking in general, or alternate picking chords (arpeggios) with palm muting (ex . like steve morse usually does)?
