DragonForce are reasnobly new in the Power Metal Scene, not only that, but they are an brilliant contribution to it and what more, they're an English Power Metal Band.

Valley of the Dammed is thier first album released on Noise Records and boy is it an Album! After a short intro the title track comes in filled with catchy hooks, soaring vocals and superb drumming, this song will instantly become stuck in your head, only to leave when you listen to one of the other tracks which are just as good as the first.

The solos performed by Herman Lee and Sam Totman never cease to amaze, which is definatley saying something as they are found so often through the songs. In the first track alone they manage to total of 6 different solos!

As seems compulsary with the genre there is to be found, a ballad on the album. But, as is sometimes found, it does not make the album worse off. In fact the ballad, titled Starfire, is one of the better tracks on the album starting off with a lovely piano piece by DragonForce's keyboardist, Vadim.

Valley of the Dammed is a must have CD for all Power Metal fanatics and I cannot emphasise enough how good this band really is. I'm happy to reward it 5 out of 5 stars!

I've been trying to find samples of the entire album, not just the one free MP3 Noise Records offers. Any ideas? I like to sample the entire disc before making a purchase so I don't get burned like I did with Manowar's last disc.

If you want to download tracks, all i can suggest is using peer-to-peer networking like Kazaa. But if you use Kazaa make sure you download the Kazaa-Lite, the other version is full of spyware.

dragon force is awesome, reminds me of iron maiden on speed(or at least on the guitar work).

Some things about the album arent very good though, some tracks have poorer mixing in them than the demos, and they aren't english, they are from all over the world and based in london

They are generally seen as English Power Metal, even though Herman lee, for example is Japanese

What do these guys vocals sound like?

Typical power metal vocals. But with faster music. The band call it 'Extreme Power Metal' but Thrash/power metal suits it fine.

Check out Rhapsody's Symphony of Enchanted Lands, for the full cheese effect. It even has narrative about a dragon in it!

Inequalities > getting annoying

I don't generally like power metal, but I've heard some tracks from these guys, can't remember which, but they weren't bad. The guitar work was definitely very good. I just love their name for some reason...

I have Sonic Firestorm, great album. That one gets a 4.5/5 just for being so **** much fun... let alone Li's axemanship... *dies*

I also have a couple of tracks off this, they're good but it sounds to me like SF was an improvement.

EDIT: Oh yeah, for one thing, there are no blasts on this (at least on the tracks I got.) SF has plenty of blastbeats... Blasts + Power Metal = How cool is that?

The recording quality of the album is very poor, its like someone turned up all the treble and turned off bass. The demo version quality is about 10 times better. Odd eh?

I agree that the demo is better, but I can hear the bass fine on the album?
