Well this is my first review, hope you enjoy...
When i first got this cd from my friend, I had never heard of Soilwork or even melodic death metal. I put it in my cd player, and it hasn't left yet. This cd has quickly become one of my favorite cds ever.
Steelbath Suicide is Swedish-born metal band Soilwork's debut cd. From its progressive guitars and the singers, um, screams, this cd should make any metalhead happy.
TRACK LISTING
1. Entering the Angel Diabolique
2. Sadistic Lullabye
3. My Need
4. Skin After Skin
5. Wings of Domain
6. Steelbath Suicide
7. In a Close Encounter
8. Centro de Predominio
9. Roazer Lives
10. Demon in the Veins
11. The Aardvark Trail
12. Sadistic Lullabye (live)
The cd begins with an instrumental song. Very nice guitar work, a nice solo, and double bass. What more do you want? The next song starts with a drum intro into a fast paced thrashy song. Good song, cool solo. Number 3 is one of my favorite songs on the album. Intro is kinda fast, pinch harmonics, and double bass. Interesting lyrics, into (I think) a tapping solo. Skin after Skin, to me, seems more like a filler. Wings of Domain is pretty good, cool riffs. The title track is also a good song. Lots of double bass, keyboard. In A Close Encounter has a very cool intro with double bass and a heavy guitar riff. Keyboard does a good job. This song is about aliens. Kinda wierd, but has a cool solo. The next song is kinda interesting. Its another instrumental, and is almost a solo in itself. Roazer Lives, to me, is just another filler, but good still. This leads to my favorite song: Demon in the Veins. If you read or can understand the lyrics, its about drugs. Fast beat, really cool solo. I think the Aardvark trail is mostly a filler, but a good song nonetheless. The final song is a live version of Sadistic Lullabye, and man these guys rock live! Very good.
I give this cd a 4.5/5. Almost a 5, but a few of the songs seem repetetive and almost boring. The cd is very good, though, and I definetely reccomend it to any metalhead. Its nice to see a good metal band these days with real solos.
