It's excellent. It is best if you listen to it in one sitting, though. Everthing just goes together as a whole piece of music. Though your parents and grandparents may like it, it truly is worth a listen to by anyone with an appreciation for music. Whether it was worth the decades of waiting is an issue better examined by someone who has actually been alive long enough to go through the wait but it certainly a wonderful album. It has my recommendation.

Normally I wouldn't bother posting this here, but they're actually indie-related. Some of them, anyway.
Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals - Live From Mars - spurred on by the Like a King/I'll Rise finale, and the fact that it was on sale. Very good album.
Miles Davis - Birth of the Cool - also very good. He hasn't disappointed me yet (in all of my two purchases).
Big Black - Songs About ****ing - I've had about half of this downloaded for years, and I finally got around to getting it in physical form. Great album, and The Power of Independent Trucking is actually one of my favourite songs.
Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger - okay, slightly less Alt/Indie material. Good, though.
Bjork - Medulla - well, I liked Vespertine, and this sounded interesting. It has it's moments, definately, and sometimes it's really good. Not amazing though. I don't regret buying it, it's still something I want to have, I just wish I'd waited to find it in a bargain bin or something.
Ta da.

No arguing with that. Bitches Brew is the most expensive Miles album round these parts though. :upset:

That's why it's such a score, I didn't have to pay for it.
It's around 25 bucks here, anywhere you go.
It's something like £16 here. As a comparison, Kind of Blue is £7, Sketches Of Spain £8, and In A Silent Way £7. Miles Smiles and Miles Ahead are even cheaper than that (both £5, I think).
There's an HMV sale on?
*sprints up to London*. My list of albums to buy is growing again. :upset:
Yes, an awesome one. I'll be heading back soon to get TLC's CrazySexyCool (finally on CD instead of tape!!!) and probably Aquemini, and The Best of Richard Wagner.
The best of Django Reinhardt is £1.99, and Lou Reed's Transformer is £2.99. Silly prices.

Is that the four disc one?
That's a goody.
Is that the four disc one?
That's a goody.
No, I think it's two disc. I know the one you're talking about, and this one isn't quite as comprehensive, but for £1.99 there's no complaints at all. Your average sandwich costs about that much here.

That HMV sale will make me a poor man/poorer student. Also, if you can find a Jumbo Records store (really pretentious indie store), they've got a great jazz selection, for mostly 6.99 per CD. In fact, the only I remember being more than that was In A Silent Way, which was rather annoyingly the one I was looking for. Settled for Birth of the Cool instead.

Amusing, as of that post, you had exactly 4 times as many posts as me.
Jumbo Records don't exist around here, and thank god. They attract ugly, obnoxious NME fashionistas who 'just adore The Libertines, darling'.

I'm jealous. All the crappy record stores around here haven't gotten it yet, it's killing me. How is it?
It's good. Ted Leo's pretty constant with his quality and the new one is no different. I'm still undecided as to whether or not it's better than Hearts of Oak but if you liked his last album, you won't be let down. Just order it off of Amazon or put in a special order at the local record store. :)

Talkie Walkie is worthy of most of the praise it receives. I find it relaxing. If you're spanning all genres, it's one of the year's best releases, in the top 25 at least. The last track on the cd is also on the Lost In Translation soundtrack as one of the more atmospheric pieces so if you liked the movie and the soundtrack, definitely get the cd. I know you have one of the more open tastes of the "Titans" so I'd suggest maybe listening to some streams from Amazon before commiting to purchase but if you've been meaning to buy it, I'd say to go for it. I'm content with my purchase.
I hope that helps. :)

Shatner's cd is nice. It's like having your father read a romanticized memoir to you set to music by your aunts and uncles. As far as "novelty" albums go, it's a mighty fine one. I don't regret buying it.
Any chance you fancy doing a review? Pretty please?

The bartender whom I work with (not the mod Bartender) is borrowing the cd at the moment and I won't have it back until Saturday or so (if he remembers; he's been a pothead for more than half of his life). If I have the time to, I'll write a review. I have to figure 2 jobs, my own music, and full-time college and all that entails along with this forum!
Seriously, I'll try to get one up when I get the time.

What are the bonus tracks? Because if one of them was "Catacombs," then I don't mind. Looking back at the review thread for RoC, I mentioned that song as one of the ones I downloaded, then deleted because it wasn't good enough. Gasp!
