Can anyone recommend me some Anthrax songs? I've heard a lot about them and how good they are but i dunno what songs to get? BTW im a big fan of opeth to, just heard in the mist she was standing. What a song. Opeth must be one of the few non-thrash bands that i really enjoy listening to.
The enemy
fueled
ssc/ stand or fall (great eastern intro)
deathrider (their fastest intro i think)
killing box (has phil anselmo on vocals, if i remember correctly)

Members of the Swedish METALLICA forum Metallica.nu have joined forces in launching a project that they hope will result in a stone being erected in the memory of former bass player of METALLICA, Cliff Burton, who died in a bus accident just outside Ljungby, Sweden in 1986.
"Everyone that we have spoken to [is] positive to this project and wants to support us as much as they can," reads a post on the project's web site. "For example Aftonbladet (the leading newspaper in Sweden). "After some research that we have done we've heard that this project has been 'up on the carpet' before, but for some reason have not come to a conclusion."

Shady Ultima
03-30-2004, 02:15 PM
So according to the 61 rules, Im guessing Im a sellout since I was born in 87...
shady,on the cosmic scale of the universe, your birth does not necessarily topple the greater heirarchial system of thrash metal. though your body may have sold out, your spirit hasnt.
yes,i did read the rhcp album booklet and i saw an interview with them.

03-30-2004, 10:25 PM
Well, reading Ve Das' post has inspired me to post my '61 rules of thrash' that i wrote up a few months back, which, i hope, would fit in with the rules at http://www.live4metal.com/cradleoffun.htm . what are your comments in the list?
1. If it is not from 86, it’s not good.
2. If you wear anything but your jeans and denim jacket from 1986, you’ve sold out.
3. Refer to all women as ‘bitches’
4. Bitches serve no other purpose other than to be impregnated
5. Impregnate as many bitches as possible
6. Metallica suck
7. Never admit you like Metallica, even though you love their first three albums
8. Never talk about Metallica to other thrashers, that is a sure sign of a sellout
9. If you no longer have your original vinyl pressing of reign in blood, you have sold out
10. Cut your hair short and you will be considered a sellout
11. Never had hair past your shoulders? You are not a thrasher
12. True thrashers have long hair
13. It is compulsory for you to head bang at all thrash concerts
14. You aren’t at a thrash concert? You’re either not a thrasher or have sold out.
15. Drink tremendous amounts of beer
16. You must be from San Francisco.
17. If you have not been living in San Francisco since 1986, you are not a thrasher, not underground and have more than likely sold out
18. Go back to 1986 and create a thrash band
19. If you were in a thrash band in 1986, reform 15 years later
20. Slayer sold out in 1986, all true thrashers know this fact.
21. Link band names with the word ‘****ing!’ Eg: Dark ****ing Angel, Vio-****ing-Lence, Slay ****ing Er
22. Complain about the present state of the music scene
23. Reminisce about 1986
24. Create a thrash band
25. Repeat rules 22, 23, 24 and 21
26. Pile dirt on Metallica so your newly found band will gain status in the underground, keeping in mind rule #7
27. Die of a heart attack/stroke/other diseases that normal people (sellouts) die at 80 from at the age of 37.
28. If you are 36 you have a year of thrashing left, take not of rules #5 and #15
29. Thrashers are so ****ing underground, if you are not underground, you are not a thrasher
30. Never smile
31. Make sure you always have an evil grin on your face like you are trying to chew through 10 leather jackets at the same time. Incorporating this with rules #5 and #15 will make you more of a thrasher
32. The Haunted suck more than Metallica
33. Thank every single thrash band in existence in the liner notes of your next album.
34. If you are Metallica, disregard rule #33 and thank bob rock instead
35. When referring to intercourse, use the terminology: “sticking my **** in her cunt
36. Wow, impregnating bitches is more tiring than head banging; go drink more beer
37. Your musical tastes are superior to any one else’s, when anyone doubts this, remind them thrash was the basis for most metal beyond 86.
38. Having the word satan in songs beyond 86 is a sure sign of a sellout.
39. During the 90’s when your thrash band was split up, you owned an underground music shop; it is your duty to mention this in any interview you have now that your band is reformed.
40. Vinyl was so much better than Compact Disk’s. Blindly reaffirm this fact to yourself on a regular basis.
41. Death metal sucks; Beer tastes better than virgins entrails
42. Black metal sucks; Beer tastes better than goat blood
43. Power metal sucks; Beer tastes better than sem….
44. Doom metal sucks; you could drink more beers in a minute than a doom band could play notes.
45. If you can still see traces of black on your faded band t-shirt, you obviously weren’t around in 86, and are therefore not a thrasher.
46. Take the Metallica patch of your jacket; they’ve sold out
47. You are so ****ing underground! Any more underground and you’d be hitting magma.
48. ‘86 is your favorite number.
49. Don’t talk to anyone who isn’t underground until you have sold a million albums.
50. If you could record an album before 86, only spend $100 on it’s production, anything more would not be underground
51. Spend the other $9000 on drugs
52. If you ever get kicked out of a band, it is imperative that you make another one to spite your former band mates.
53. Disband when you realize your band isn’t as fast as reign in blood, not disbanding would bring shame upon you, and you will probably be branded a sellout
54. Join your friend’s band who is as fast reign in blood
55. Throw out all your Metallica posters you got when you were 12
56. “**** yeah! is used instead of the words “Hello, “yes and “Metallica suck
57. If your songs have less than 92 riffs, 16 time changes and fewer than 364 beats per minute, it is not thrash.
58. It is alright to turn to Christianity and leave your thrash band, provided it is after 86.
59. When ever
60. Anyone who does not know the difference between speed and thrash. Is not a thrasher and therefore deserved to be
61. Never be a Pretentious, poseur fag around other thrashers, 14 steal-capped boots in the balls doesn’t tickle.
i like thrash and everything but you guys need to get a ****in life seriously

Yesterday, I got my late birthday gift... A ****ING MARSHALL!!!! Finally I have the crunch, growl, and volume to tear apart everybody in town... it's a MG250, which is the cheapest big amp Marshall sells, but it kicks an extreme amount of ***... much more than the Randall I would've had instead. First thing I did with the Marshall? Took it to my garage, turned the master up to 5 (gig volume, amazing), and busted out Raining Blood beginning to end... the sound was perfect. The crunch and grind was just as amazing as Kerry and Jeff's is... oh how I love the world!! Marshall!! Yes!!! Epiphone Les Paul > Dunlop Original Crybaby Wah > Boss SUPEROverdrive > Marshall.... perfect, perfect perfect. This shall tide me over for many years, until I can afford the JCM800 stack... God of Rock, I salute you.

he may of played a six string in sepultura i am not too sure about that but in soulfly he has always used only 4 strings and he is only a rhthym guitarist anyways i may look into buying the new soulfly album it doesnt compare to old sepultura but i have heard one song "prohecy" which i thougth was alright plus dave elleson plays bass on the album :thumb:

yeh i thought he would have. its just i got metal hammer [a british metal mag] and in it is an interview with max and one of the questions was "do you still use only four strings on a guitar" answer was simply "yes". so that could be from the start of soulfly or from sepultura days that i am not sure about tho

He took the other two strings off after Chaos AD. He never did leads or anything other than rhythm parts. Andreas did all leads, acoustic passages etc. And he wrote all their decent lyrics. I actually cheered when Max left cos it was his stupid obsession with Korn etc that made Seps turn quite so sh1t. This doesn't explain why they remain sh1t though.

Ozzy Osbourne has confirmed in a radio interview that talks are underway for BLACK SABBATH to perform at this year's Ozzfest. Asked during an appearance on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" Wednesday night (March 31) if there is any truth to the reports that SABBATH are in negotiations to reunite for a headlining performance at the next installment of the traveling music festival, Osbourne replied, "I believe so." Ozzy did not confirm or deny the rumor that Geezer Butler was once again a member of his solo band (as reported exclusively by BLABBERMOUTH.NET on March 30), explaining that he didn't want to say anything because he wanted to avoid getting yelled at by his wife/manager Sharon.
It is not presently clear whether SABBATH would actually replace Ozzy as the headliner of this year's Ozzfest, or if the show would be split between an Ozzy solo set and a SABBATH set.

Celtic Frost, good times.
I picked up Testament -'The Ritual' and Iron Maiden '7th Son...'
I haven't gone through teh Testament cd, but to those who have it, what are your opinions on it? It doesn't seem as thrash or heavy as The New Order or Legacy, but has some pretty good riffs and leads by Alex.

my opinion practise what you preach was the best album by testament but alot of people think new order and legacy. the ritual is a good album but doesnt compare to the older stuff with alex on :thumb: stuff like demonic and the gathering is death metal and no longer thrash really i do prefer the thrash to the death metal but it all depends on wat u prefer
on another note i finally got my bonded by blood on thursday :thumb: it is brillaint and then there were none is one of my fav's

The makers of "Get Thrashed", the upcoming documentary profiling the thrash metal scene of the early Eighties and its impact on the music scene, have posted a third preview clip via the project's official web site.
The third clip features guitarist Scott Ian (ANTHRAX, ex-S.O.D.) sharing an interesting story about the first time ANTHRAX played Los Angeles. It was a "triple threat" bill with headliners RAVEN, ANTHRAX and a "special guest" opener, STRYPER. Also included is a special "bonus" clip featuring EXODUS members Zetro Souza (vocals), Gary Holt (guitar) and Tom Hunting (drums) discussing the "thrash metal attitude" and how the shows provided a release to the fans (and the bands as well!). Check it out here www.getthrashed.com (go to the "Media" section).
As previously reported, filming for "Get Thrashed" was recently completed and the show is currently being edited. Post-production should be completed in late spring/early summer with an air date and location to follow soon after.
"Get Thrashed", the brainchild of director Rick Ernst, a longtime freelance producer for MTV, will include interviews with METALLICA, SLAYER, ANTHRAX, EXODUS, GODSMACK, DISTURBED, SEVENDUST, TESTAMENT, OVERKILL, DEATH ANGEL, SHADOWS FALL, MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, STONE SOUR, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, LAMB OF GOD, VIO-LENCE, KREATOR, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, VOIVOD, CHIMAIRA, BIOHAZARD, FOZZY singer/WWE superstar Chris Jericho, SEPULTURA, KITTIE, THE HAUNTED, D.R.I., SOILWORK, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, HEATHEN, Brian Slagel, Jon & Marsha Zazula, authors Ian Christe ("Sound of the Beast") and Steven Blush ("American Hardcore"), NY metal radio DJ Eddie Trunk, "Radio Rampage"'s Ron Quintana, as well as unsigned thrash bands OSMIUM, CONCRETE COFFIN and VISCID.

yeh it sounded kool it sounded ****in excellent
anyways some megadeth news :)
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has revealed the track listing for the group's new CD, tentatively due later in the year through Sanctuary Records. It is as follows:
01. Blackmail The Universe
02. Shadow Of Death
03. My Kingdom
04. Of Mice And Men
05. Truth Be Told
06. The Scorpion
07. Kick The Chair
08. Something That I’m Not
09. Tears In A Vial
10. Die Dead Enough
11. Back In The Day
Mustaine has also posted the following message in the band's official forum:
"Droogies!
"Well, the day has come and I am packing it in.
"Yesterday was the last day in the studio, I finished the last solo and the last sentence of the last song, and the week before all of the remixes were done, so . . . it is time now to prepare all of the goofy administrative stuff that goes into an album.
"I was listening down to all of the songs until after 11:30 PM last night when I finally told Jeff Balding that I had to go. I had a meeting to be at, at 7:00 AM this morning, but as you can see I didn't make it because I got really ill again.
"The songs to me are fantastic. There is a lot going on, there are amazing solos by both 'Polie' and myself, loads of double bass, fast parts, slow parts, beautiful singing, Mustaine snarls, yelling, gang vocals, voice-overs, special effects, and layers of intricate sounds in the background that Jeff and I are deciding on what will help the song and what will not.
"For example, last night we were working for almost half an hour on whether or not to put the sound of a jail cell door clanging shut (kinda like in 'Captive Honour') in a song called 'Kick the Chair'. We ended up muting it for now, but it was a tough decision because there is a lot going on right there already (you'll see soon).
"This incredible amount of layering, I believe, will be 100% acceptable and expected when I start on my solo work, but for the MEGADETH music that we have all grown to love and enjoy, I have to be cautious.
"Don't want to get slagged here at my own boards now, do I?
"I am excited as hell to know that I am going to see the old guard today. Jeff Young got in last night, and Chuck Behler and Nick Menza come in today. I have told them all that I am not going to be there, because I wanted to surprise them, and pop in to see the looks on their faces after they hear what we all did to make them shine!
"I also just want to see them and tell them thanks and that I love them and I wouldn't be where I am today without what they did with me.

This list is gonna blow major balls, but I suck at thinking of 'favorite' anything:
Slayer - Raining Blood
Metallica - One/Fade to Black
Exodus - Strike of the Beast (that little mini-solo is super awesome)
Dark Angel - Burning of Sodom (a mass of noise)
Megadeth - 5 Magics (bunches of great ones)
deftoned
04-14-2004, 07:00 AM
Metallica - Sanitarium (3rd solo)
Slayer - Angel of Death (hahaha 50 seconds of primal carnage!!)
Metallica - Hit the Lights (that run up the neck is so fast, right till the end!) \m/
Testament - The New Order (around the 2:45 mark)
Slayer - Raining Blood (hahah the divebombing!)
Meh favourite lists always suck, as you tend to forget your favourite stuff. I'll edit with some more later. I'm tired.

I saw Sepultura live four times (all but one with Max - Donington 96 he wasn't there and Andreas did vox) and they were good but never great (certainly not up to Slayer standards). And I've seen some thrash bands who are atrocious live (cough NuclearAssault cough). Thrash suits the live scenario (even when you're listening in your room you feel the need to mosh and stagedive!) but it also requires a certain level of sobriety! (Are you listening John Connelly?!!!)
