I downloaded Cannibal Corpse's 1989 demo, because I heard it was thrash and well..... it's hardly death metal. Raw Thrash all the way. Barnes sounds like Don Doty most of the time

oh yes, I also found Razors's Shotgun Justice it's pretty great

I havent heard it but I do have their 1990 album Eaten Back to Life which has I think 4 of the same songs as the demo. I agree that it isn't death metal. I definetly recommend Eaten Back to Life to anyone who wants some good raw thrash.

Eaten Back to Life is actually some pretty good Death/Thrash, too bad Barnes's vocals blow a goat and he isn't like he was on the demo

We can all sent it back and forth, working on it bit by bit.

It wouldn't be all that difficult. The hard part would be that as we wrote it we'd need to tab it out.

I'm in a thrash band and I love making long thrash epics. Right now my band has two, ones like 10 mins and the others about 15 mins. But all together we have like 15 original songs and we are playing a show in early December to debut the 15 min epic.

Where'd you hear it? Glad to hear Jeff Waters is still a poseur.

EDIT: I just heard it, and if they had a snare hit on beats 2 and 4 throughout the whole song and not just the last few seconds, it would be 100x more thrashy. Having just one snare per measure ruins that song. Oh, and whoever wrote that breakdown needs to be shot.

I saw Exodus Sunday night(along with Watch Them Die,3 Inches Of Blood, and Crisis) and it was awesome. The place I seen them at was this tiny little bar. I got hit in the head twice by Gary Holt's guitar so he gave me a pic and me and my friend even got to make small talk with the bands afterwards. Exodus put on a helluva show. Really long too. Mostly stuff from Tempo and Shovel except for "Bonded By Blood" and a couple songs off of Fabulous Disaster. But no "Toxic Waltz" It's kind of surprising that one of the biggest American metal bands of all time is still playing bars like this but it was super cool.

Go 10-46, 10-52, or 10-60 guage. I like D'Addario but there's not much difference between those and Ernie Balls. I think GHS suck, they get dirty really fast. DR I've never tried though I hear they're excellent.

I encourage everyone else to do the same because surely people like KittensInMicrowaves and others will come in there raving about how The Haunted are the best thrash band ever.

I'll check in the thread, in case any of that happens
I might enter but i wouldnt have a way to upload any of my songs, atleast not until i can be bothered to buy a USB cable :P

Yeah, goddamn.

I'm thinking of recording one of my band's songs on a 10-track and submitting it...would we be allowed to send in original songs from our bands, or does it just have to be an individual thing? Because I wrote the whole song anyways....if not, I'll just write an original, I've got ideas comin' out the wazoo.

songs with half-thrash riffs winning a prize.

pfft, "half-thrash". It's either thrash or not thrash at all. With this era's music, it's the latter posing as the former...not saying it's bad music, but you get my point.

Sign up for the mailing list.

Get on soulseek and go to the thrash room and download stuffs that are talked about in here. For starters...

Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Sodom - Agent Orange or Persecution Mania
Nuclear Assault - Game Over
Coroner - Punishment for Decadence

If you don't have soulseek or can't get on for whatever reason, you can also check amazon and band websites for samples and whatnot.

And http://heathenmetal.com for Heathen's first two albums, in full.

Yeah sure. But I got RIB from a friend, and the CD wasn't in good quality. Criminally Insane (Remix) has very very slight ticking from when the computer read over the scratches, but it only lasts like 8-10 seconds. If you think people could deal with that I'd be glad to send this album.

So why isn't Horrorscope on that list?

Add Watchtower - Energetic Disassembly to that list, and I'll do it.

Because The Years of Decay stomps all over Horrorscope :p

Although, I think Soulitude is the best ballad ever written

Did you get that Dark Angel vid? If not it's a page or two back

I don't know about "stomps all over", but it does edge it out just a little bit. :p

Ah, I missed that! Thanks man. *goes back and gets it*

Have any of you heard of the Norwegian Thrash band Battered?? They formed after Einherjer broke up, and their first album is scheduled to be released in '06 around Spring.

So for some time now, I've been listening to the two re-released Holy Moses albums (The New Machne of Liechtstein and Finished With The Dogs) and they both beat the **** out of Strength, Will, Power, Passion.

However, FWTD > TNMOL hands down. Dogs has more thrashiness to it and it's a lot more unique, and I think Liechstein sounds like a fest of the same riffs...but overall they're both good albms. At least compared to SWPP.

That album is good too but it sounds a little repetative. Sabrina's voice is really good there than compared to the live tracks on FWTD.

I just brought this up because I remember earlier in the year, Dargon brought "Current of Death" into the prespective here in the thread. Personally, I liked the song so I decided to do some research on them.

Weeeeeee. I also am a little too much in a good mood...that's not supposed to happen.

Just wondering, bands like Vio-lence, and Municipal Waste for example. They have real punky feeling to them. Are they still considered just straight thrash, or has their style of thrash been dubbed a different name?

I recommend you log out, and sign back up under a different name. If you stay here for any amount of time you'll regret having a name like that.

Not trying to be an ***, just trying to help out.

For Exodus songs try anything off of Bonded by Blood.

I'm assuming they're Australian if you're calling on Jon.

I'll ask the guy in JB Hi-Fi next time I go if they're worth checking out. He's been in the Aussie metal scene for quite a while and knows his stuff.

To All Mailing List Contributers: I would like your links in the next 24 hours. It is Tuesday 11:54pm in GMT+10 here. Remember I said I would like them sometime Wednesday (Thurs at the latest), ready to be sent on Thursday.

Also remember I said I would prefer 3 YSI links and one Megaupload. (If you are really short on time you can just do a megaupload, though I would prefer not since so many don't seem to like Megaupload)

I'm sure he got used to it after time...I saw this blind kid who was in the fifth grade play drums the other day, and he was pretty good...held a steady beat, knew what he was doing. When he grows up I'm thinking he'll be ungodly at drums...
