Electric Eye is incredible!!! Make sure you do "the helion" intro though, or it wont be complete. I am the law is cool, but then again im not a huge anthrax fan.
anthrax is cool,man..its like a thrashier pantera in my opinion.

Yes, awesome picks. I like both songs, esp Electric eye. But as frail said you need to play the hellion, too. \m/ awesome.

Past the 1000 mark! the Thrash Clan is going strong still. I third the playing of The Hellion before Electric Eye.....it builds up the greatness.
Anyway! Whilst I'm here I'll ask a question. Is No More Color by Coroner any good? I've got Punishment For Decadence and R.I.P. and I love 'em both. I've not heard any Coroner after that.....I heard they mellowed out a bit on the last 4 albums, so I don't know what to think.

You guys think these are good picks, or are me and my bandmates crazy?
If this is the nu-metal band that you were talking about joining earlier, then I think it is most definetly a great plan... of course, even if you were straight thrash those would still be great picks. Rock out man \m/

Is No More Color by Coroner any good?
yes! its pretty awesome. ive only got a few mp3's from it but from what ive heard its great. good luck finding it though!!!

Good thinking! No More Color is in there for the same price aswell. JB have a suprisingly good selection and most are dirt cheap aswell.
On another note! I noticed that Exodus pulled back a classic song for the new album. One that Kirk Hammett had a hand in writing. Easy to tell it's really early Thrash....sounds very Kill 'Em All like. The tracks called Impaler. Dunno if turned up in any of the EP's they brought out when Hammett was in the band, but it's a good track anyways.
i'm a go download impaler..hang on
ohh and are jason newstead's echobrain and voivod any good?

Bonded by Blood is by far the best album by Exodus.
I've got some good news. My buddies and I in my band decided on a couple of cover songs we're gonna play once in a while during our shows. We decided on I Am The Law by Anthrax, and Electric Eye by Judas Priest. You guys think these are good picks, or are me and my bandmates crazy?
Well I don't know how talented you guys are, but if I was you I would just rip the pansy-assed crowd's heads off (this is a Mallcore crowd right?) with something like Under the Guillotine or Raining Blood. Last 30 seconds kills me every time.

The only thing about us now that sounds remotely nu-metal is the slower songs that I've written. Everything else is thrash. We're like a mixture of Slayer, Anthrax, and a little bit of Cold thrown in there, but not much. We will play the Hellion into Electric Eye though. We open our shows with a instrumental that we wrote called "Scream of the Martyred".

Does it really? I hope so, cause I thought it fitted well. I'm the lead singer, if I haven't mentioned it before. Our first show went off without a hitch, and we recorded it, so I'll have to start us a homepage, and put that video available for streaming. I've written some stuff that's socially conscious, like a song I wrote about abortion called Dealing in Death, and then there is more introverted stuff like the acoustic song called Insomnia that I wrote. As a band, we have good range, and we get people who listen to nu-metal to realize how great thrash is. I love it!
If you guys want, I could post some of my lyrics if you like. Give me some feedback!

well, morbid visions and bestial devestation were more deathy and they 'paved the way' so to speak for death, although they aren't really manic thrashers to the degree that schizophenia and beneath the remains were. Meh, all early sep albums are worth picking up. :D

According to IRON MAIDEN's official web site, EMI Records will release a "Dance of Death" DVDA on March 22 with 5.1 surround sound specially mixed by producer Kevin Shirley and bassist Steve Harris. For the audio buffs, the DVDA portion contains the album in full crystal-clear hi-definition 24-bit/96-khz glory while fans who own DVD 5.1 home cinema set-ups will be able to enjoy the album in surround-sound in Dolby Digital or DTS. Listening to the album in this format takes it to a whole new experience level especially with tracks such as "Paschendale" taking on epic proportions. Also included on the DVDA as a bonus are two full-length videos of the singles "Wildest Dreams" and "Rainmaker", both directed by Howard Greenhalgh and which can also be viewed accompanied by full 5.1 audio.

I won't tell you whats gonna be on it, it'll be a surprise, but I can tell you one thing - it will be an animated .gif. Now I have a .gif maker but it's unregistered, and it leaves a big ugly symbol in the corner of any .gif I make with it. So this is why I need you. I need someone with a working .gif maker to take the images I will provide them with (i'll host them on my geocities site) and assemble them into a .gif for our clan.

No, it's Anthrax playing over Public Enemys music. I like it yeah.....especially when they play it live and John has to rap it. haha, he does a good job though.
Oh yeah, we do talk about Kreator quite a bit don't we? I thought we did anyway. Love the vocals, even though it sounds like they are saying something different most of the time. Ok, Keator's first five albums are ESSENTIAL thrash! Destruction has put out a bit more than 5 albums of classic thrash, including three in the '00. Not to mention both bands EPs and assorted demos! Oh yeah! But seriously, Sodom is probably THE most underated band in the exsistance of the universe. They played blackened speed metal, and perfected it. Most say bathory started true black metal, but it wasn't Quorthon, it was Angelripper. They played thrash and perfected it. They released 10 full length albums and 5 EPs, and not a single one of them were bad. Perhaps the didn't quite reach the Pleasure to Kill/The Antichrist levels, but they are the most consistent band in metal, first even to the likes of Overkill. Yes sir, Sodom are probably the greatest.
Having said that, my opinion on this topic always changes, most of the time between Sodom and Kreator.
And yes, Endorama was a shame. Veterlli could have done amazing things with Mille given the chance. You can just imagin if it was released in 1989. The pure force of Kreator's riffs with Coroner's leads. OOO MUMMA!

Anthrax - Among the Living

Megadeth - Rust in Peace

Oh, Girl-Playing-Bass, Darkness Descends would probobly be #7 on my list.

The following update was posted at KREATOR's official web site:
"The songwriting process of the new KREATOR album is slowly but surely taking form! Those who've already heard some material describe it as complex, intense, fast, violent and melodic."
Commented KREATOR guitarist/vocalist Mille Petrozza: "Dear friends. Writing and arranging a new record is always exciting, interesting, painful and sometimes frustrating. Right now, we are producing demos, collecting ideas, [arranging] and [rearranging] stuff, listen[ing] to riffs, get[ting] excited about stuff and throw[ing] **** away. It's like doing a puzzle! We've got the rough versions of seven songs so far and the **** sounds ****in' brutal! Be patient, as soon as there's more details, you'll read 'em here first!"
"If things work out, the cover artwork of the new record will be the realization of a long-planned project finally coming true!" continues the post on the band's web site.
"KREATOR's agents are currently booking selected venues around the globe, where the band will present their newly designed light and stage set in the end of the year. Details soon..."

Yeah, the reaosn why I've laid off this site is because of the slowdown, and because I got so frustrated that I can't seem to start this new thread I've been wanting to start for the last 2 weeks. I resorted to chilling out at the CHristina Aguilera forums while I waited for the problems to fix up but they still haven't so I decided to see how my clan is going and check if someone wanted to post this thread up for me. Lately though, I've been in a mood to pick up more Thrash stuff than Heavy Metal but I have no money since uni sucks so bad. What I ned is some sort of Thrash compilation.
Yeah, the new subject I want to talk about is this - Listening to the wrong music in the wrong place/time.

umm its not one month..its 20 days.
i am insomniac and can't sleep so i get online at 4 in the morning and am on till 10 when i work part time at the bookstore.
i used to be 13wayz and used to be a normal guy who had 600 posts.
but i got banned and i'm pissed,so i decided i'm going to make it to 1000 in a month. also,my girl's dad has alzheimers and since she's spending most of her time with him,i don't have much to do.
ps: i might get signed by universal records australia in june.
expect some awesome thrash and prog metal and acoustic stuff.
also,i admire captain jack sparrow who became a veteran in a month by continuously spamming. so i'm taking a leaf out of his book.
do you reckon big labels would like band like ours to focus more on our acoustic stuff or our metal stuff?
LordDargon
03-16-2004, 02:45 PM
**** the label. **** it and **** it again. don't do what the label wants. do what I (the loyal fan) wants - THRASH BABY!
that's the thing...i play two totally different styles of music.
i make anathema style acoustics and megadeth style metal.
and the label likes them both. now i have to figure what it is would be the best to focus on. ohh don't you fear, our first album will have enough thrash to satisfy you.

Don't do the music for them... do the music for you. Focus on what you like best...
that's the problem,man..i like both.
i'm not sure what i want or what the public wants at this time.
it will have 13 songs..6 soft and 6 metal and one instrumental is what i think i'm going to go with. i'm trying to balance both styles. i don't know if that's a good idea though.
LordDargon
03-16-2004, 03:33 PM
Bad idea! Do 11 metals, 1 intrumental, and one or 2 softies. Don't make it like The New Order, with totally mind-blowing thrashers, but too many soft piss breaks.
philiop
03-16-2004, 03:38 PM
you could do like a song with a slow start and gets thrashy about half way through like One
or i'll just wait until the record company whittles down the 15 metal,15 soft,2 instrumental list i plan to send them.
it's such a hard decision,man..cos i like both styles.
my influences range from everything from radiohead, tori amos, coldplay, opeth to megadeth, pantera, kreator, metallica and slayer.
it's not a bridgeable gap.
this thread should be stickied.

Bloody site! not been able to post for a while, plus loads of my ****ing posts have been deleted for some strange reason!
Anyway, I was going to post this the other day. Can you make a half decent Thrash band from dead members of bands? so far I have...
Vocals - Paul Baloff (Exodus)
Bass - Cliff Burton (Metallica)
Drums - Gar Samuleson (Megadeth)
I heard the Guitarist from Iron Angel is dead aswell, but I don't really like them! anyway I'm to lazy to research into it, but feel free to add anymore dead people to the list.
Oh yeah and I listen to Thrash mainly but I can be seen listening to a lot of genres such as.....Power, Death, (old) Punk and of course all of the classic NWOBHM bands!

I got a good thrash album a few days ago.
Wehrmacht - Biermacht
A very... fun album. Strong punk influence(Crossover), but it's still good aggressive thrash, with some great solos... and all the songs are about things like drinking beer, horror movies and things like that.

It's too hard for me to choose my top 5 non-thrash albums..but I like lots of different styles; melodic death, prog-metal, classic rock, hair metal, grunge, indie, punk, a bit of hip hop (Jurassic 5, Trible Called Quest, Public Enemy), blues, jazz, reggae. Everything that pleases the ears...
Girl-Playing-Bass
03-18-2004, 05:24 AM
^ same here. I can make a top 5 thrash, a top 5 classic rock, a top 5 power metal or whatever, but i can't choose 5 non thrash.
I like a wide range of music and it's pretty hard comparing, let's say; CCR with Los Calzones
