This isn't the official artwork for the album, but there's a chance it could be. The ship-like thing in the picture is most likely the Shovel Headed Killing Machine. Overall, the cover looks like an Iced Earth album cover.

Totally non-thrash, but what I mean is that I just didn't like being a teenager that much. High school sucks, the last two girls I dated were sluts (especially the last one), and overall, I've had to put up with a lot of my friends bitching.

Luckily, I had a lot of angry thrash to cure it all, except I'll get bitched at tonight. No problem.

I have family in SF, sadly I haven't been anywhere historically thrash other than Oakland, and maybe the other areas surrounding it that aren't really thrash but towns like Pleasanton (Greg Christian's hometown according to Zetro) and some other random towns around there.

I might be going there this summer in August. Hopefully I have enough money to see if I can do some thrash album hunting :)

Gary says that this material will be thrashier than TOTD, and the title track for the album is probably "the fastest Exodus song ever recorded."

Powell is like the Skid Row of SF. Homeless people are even down in the subway.

As for Exodus, We must have faith in what's left of them. Hopefully one day I'll get in a band that would be grand enough to play the old stuff and hopefully create a modern but true form of thrash.

I personally like PWYP, although no one else does and everyone says it's weak. I can see why. The album after PWYP is "Souls of Black" and isn't too much different then PWYP. The album after Souls of Black is "The Ritual" and they tried to go for a more commercial so the thrash is pretty much gone, but I like it as a metal album. It's not a musical abortion like Metallica's Black album. After that "Low" came out and just tried to be down-tuned 90's thrash, but is kind of lame. "Demonic" came out in '97 and is by far the shittiest album. It's all death vocals, no solos and groove monkey homo riffs. "The Gathering" came out in '99 and is a mixture of "Low" and "Demonic", except with cool drumming, because Lombardo plays on it, but other than that, it blows

PWYP is a fine record now, I'm liking it more and more. Espescially since I got a sealed LP of it a few months back and had a good close listen to it. There's not much to fault, even if the drumming still irks me making everything seems samey.

Took me 4 months to go from L plates to P plates here in Australia, although I had my Ls for just over 6 months.

Where I'm from, you've gotta be 16 to start to learn, then pass a test to get a provisional licence which just means showing annoying plates all the time, not going over 80km/h and not being able to drive supercharged or turbocharged cars. I think V8 and over.

eBay has had alot of cool metal shirts as of late, check there for something. JSRDirect (http://www.jsrdirect.com) is also good.

Buy the LG shirt, as the shirts are 100% cotton. Run it through a wash cycle and it'll shrink to the next size down. That's what I have to do to all my shirts; Buy them one size larger, and then shrink them. :thumb:

They influenced pretty much every nu-metal band, and IMO if you take the solos out many Pantera songs are very nu-metal-ish.

Enough about Pantera, they aren't even thrash.

NONE of BLS' material fits under thrash. The song "Battering Ram" off of 1919 Eternal could be considered speed metal, but not thrash.

we might have different views of what thrash is, if you can, define thrash metal

A faster, choppier, more aggressive form of heavy metal derived from the late 70's/early 80's hardcore punk scene. The genre combines the quickness of speed metal, and that hard-nosed punk attitude. Thrash can be identified most easily by the "chugga-chugging" on the low E string of the guitar.

Thrash ultimately evolved into black metal and death metal, and the genre (thrash) itself is (arguably) now dead. One could say that the genre was a stepping stone from Stained Class to *insert black/death metal classic here*.

Thrash is also one of the most narrow genres.

joe_fresh

I am not going to define thrash, because i doubt i can do it satisfactorily. But i listen to quite a large amount of thrash and i am fairly certain BLS isnt thrash.

Metallica isn't the be-all end-all of thrash metal. :p

Newer traditional metal bands are out there. Most of them mix influences from power metal though, which isn't at all a bad thing. Plus, older bands are still going strong (see Judas Priest, Manilla Road, Brocas Helm, Angel Witch, etc.)

what?!!!!!!
rubbish! your more than ready!
i havent hit my second year yet ( this september itl be 2 )

just work on your picking chops,
cuz if i can write thrash riffs at ridiculous speeds, so can you cuz you have more experience,

a trick to improve your picking chops, play along with Mater of Puppets, then move on to harder stuff

pick one note as fast as you can for one solid minute without stopping, when you feel burning, thats lactic acid, push through it dont be a *****, do this for 1 or 2 weeks, you'l be alot faster, ive done it and its helped alot :thumb:

I have.

It's better than Back From The Dead, I'll tell you that. It seems like a mix of The End Complete and World Demise, with a little hint of that Slowly We Rot frenzy. The slower bludgeoning riffs are in command of this album.

ThrashMaster27
07-25-2005, 08:52 PM
Hmmm interesting. I heard Insane and it instantly reminded me of The End Complete. I'll probably end up buying it, I always do.

I've been listening to M-16 and it reminds me of Exodus' Tempo of the ****ed in respect to it being very midpaced and far off the artists earlier work. Both still entertain me though, aside from songs that you want to speed up. Genocide comes to mind on this one. I was listening to the intro and shouting "Go faster! for **** sakes, go faster!"

Anyway.

You question a thier taste a little? Dude, ****ing Will Smith is playing Ozzfest. It is the just about the lamest tour ever. Gay Nu-metal, and even gayer hardcore emo is all that is there. Metalcore I choose not to even acknowledge, because I find it to be the dumbest thing......be metal or don't be metal, don't be halfass metal. Black Sabbath is just about retarded, because they played the same setlist for the past 8 years and Ozzy can't sing anymore. The only thing that saves the tour from being 100% crap is Maiden

I guess you could say that. The only 2 bands on the Second Stage that really impressed me were Lamb of God and Lacuna Coil. Everyone else made me feel like just lying down and taking a nap XD

Flame me for my comments, but I guess it's probably that weird musical taste of mine.

Priest really were good though. I enjoyed their set. My cousin was all crazy for them because he saw them when he was my age at the time way back in the 80s. This was like a dream for him because of the Reunion.
