First Strike Still Deadly finally came yesterday, it kicks major amounts of *** imo. I find the songs slightly heavier than the origional recordings. Anyway, if you don't have this album, you should definitely add it to your collection :D

I downloaded this, it is pretty good, but they seem to have slowed down some of the songs to around 85% speed, which sucks.
Venom wallet \m/(>_<)\m/
Yeah, I make vulgar remarks about the speed of FSSD every time I hear it. I may not like Testament a whole lot, but the songs I do like are reproduced poorly on that release. Except for Reign of Zetro's Terror and The Preacher; those remakes are better than the originals.

Mind you, I haven't learnt all of Garys solo yet.
I know the first solo in that song, though I can't remember who plays it (Gary I think, but I saw Rick play it when I saw them).
Yeah, if we're going to do a song let's do Bonded By Blood.
ThrashMaster27
05-30-2005, 07:18 PM
Yeah, Gary's is the first solo. You can usually tell between the two. Rick doesn't have much imagination when it comes to solos.
I think it's probably the best song to do. Pretty much sums up Thrash for me.
Gary it is then!
So, how are we going to do this?

I'm not sure if you're allowed to play in more than one song, but if it's allowed, I'll play a solo or something (guitar).

Ah, well if you can only play in one, I may have to go with the death heads one. If that thread does one though, I'm not sure.
My guitar sound isn't that bad, if I work on it a while I could probably get it pretty good.
Also, somebody needs to mix it, and put it all together.

Probably my favorite part of it is the noise removal. It really helps since my amp models in garage band suck and produce lots of white noise.

Well, here I am, all happy, 12 bucks too. Tower wants 18, everyone else wants to be a bitch and charge more. So when I go to pay, the lady asks me for my California ID...
I'm there, thinking...wtf?
Turns out at all the major stores now they want to see proof when you're buying PARENTAL ADVISORITY labelled CDs...f*cking Arnold and Bush...
Luckily, the lady let me still buy it since the computer didn't prompt her to ask for it. I managed to walk away without a problem, but that's the last time I'm ever buying a CD there at Circuit City.

I say we get BbB done for sure, then try something completely over the top technical or fast, something like a Coroner or Dark Angel song. It would be awesome if we could pull it off. First we should get Bonded by Blood finished though.

There is no GP or PT for it anyway, so it dosen't really matter anyway and the only tabs I've seen of it don't include solos, so it would probably be better for you to pick a different song

DESTRUCTION: 'Inventor Of Evil' Cover Artwork Posted Online, More Guest Appearances Revealed
German thrashers DESTRUCTION have uploaded the cover artwork for their upcoming album, "Inventor of Evil", [which loooks ****ing killer!]
In other news, DESTRUCTION have confirmed that they have tapped nne diferent world-renowned metal singers from all different heavy metal styles to make a guest appearance in their track "The Alliance of Hellhoundz", to be included on "Inventor of Evil", due on August 15 via AFM Records. The confirmed guest musicians are as follows:
Biff Byford (SAXON)
Doro Pesch
Shagrath (DIMMU BORGIR)
Björn "Speed" Strid (SOILWORK)
Paul Di'Anno (ex-IRON MAIDEN, KILLERS)
Messiah Marcolin (CANDLEMASS)
Mark Osegueda (DEATH ANGEL)
Peter "Peavy" Wagner (RAGE)
Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN)
Commented DESTRUCTION bassist/vocalist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer, "The all-star song 'The Alliance of Hellhoundz' will make metal history: from Paul Di'Anno to Messiah, we'll have the best metal singers in ONE ****in' song!"
DESTRUCTION are currently recording "Inventor of Evil" with producer Peter Tätgtren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN), V.O. Pulver (GURD) and their live engineer Franky Winkelmann at studios in Germany and Switzerland. The mix will be done by Tätgtren at the Abyss Studios in Sweden. A "making of" studio clip, featuring an unmastered rough-mix recording of the song "Soulcollector", is available at this location.
DESTRUCTION's most recent album, "Metal Discharge", was released in September 2003 through Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2001's "The Antichrist" was the first DESTRUCTION album to feature drummer Marc Reign, who replaced Sven Vormann in 2001.
DESTRUCTION have been confirmed for Israel's annual Metalist Festival, set to take place on June 22 at the Hangar 11 club in Tel Aviv. Also scheduled to appear at the festival are headliners MEGADETH alongside homegrown metallers ETERNAL GRAY, CROSSFIRE, DISTORTED, LEHAVOTH and STELLA MARIS.

Ok, you guys are probably going to hate me for posting such a post like this, but I've been bored all morning with a stupid cold that I've had since Monday, and since finals are over, I decided to look into new music, considering last night I was trying to download Holy Moses' "Queen of Siam" and Overkill's "Horrorscope".
This morning, SoulSeek refused to work with me, but I still managed to get Overkill III (Under The Influence). I still have enough money on iTunes to download the 8 tracks from Under The Influence, so it's going all according to plan.
Well, I was looking at Destruction on Metal Archives, and found this band called Raise Hell. I know you guys will say they're not thrash, but from their biography, Destruction asked them to support them on a tour once. Now, I think if Schmier and the gang heard of these guys, then they must be good.
So far, I've been listening to a couple of their songs, and so far it's rather interesting. It's actually a hybrid between black metal and thrash, just like Destroyer 666 and Aura Noir, although I think some of the stuff from them (D666 and Aura Noir) could easily pwn these guys.
So, there's my post. Flame me :P

I didn't like Metal Discharge at first, but then I listened to it more with my IPod Mini. Then I became to understand it wasn't too terrible. So the songs were really odd constructed, and it wasn't full on thrash, not to mention the production sounded ech!

Early Destruction > Newer Destruction > Non-Schmier Destruction (minus Cracked Brain)
What hurts early Destruction is the production values of those albums. If they were produced like The Antichrist or Metal Discharge, then they would own much harder than they already do.

The tone needs some work and the second solo isn't in there yet (If somebody else wants to play it, you're welcome to it). I think I repeated one part one too many times or something, because it's longer than the original without the intro thing.
It's a start though.
The second ending to the main verse riff sounds off, and you kinda biffed the first solo. The overall speed of the song needs to be a bit faster too.
Keep these in mind when you go to re-record it. :thumb:

Yeah, I am going to re-record it tomorow, while playing along with the song. You don't sound mean at all, suggestions are needed and that is by no means the final recording.
I just got that solo up to speed, and I didn't spend a lot of time recording it, so I'll fix that too.

All you have to do is convert it to anything else in a different bit rate so that the size reduces. Search download.com for a wav converter.
Great job playing that song, by the way. One of those parts gives me major trouble and you played it really well. Pretty good job on the solos too. You should add the clean one if you can though.

It starts when Dave starts singing. That riff (or two), I just haven't bothered to get down all that well. When I've tried I haven't been motivated to work at it hard enough to get it right.
Also, I haven't taken the time to learn either of those solos, but I think I'm going to once I get BbB better.
The clean solo actually doesn't look very hard (I'm looking at the tab book), so you should be able to nail it pretty easily since you've got Marty's other solos in the song down.
I liked it, MAthiAS; needs some touching up, but good for the most part. :thumb:

I'm going to sing along to Bonded By Blood today to try and get my voice in gear again. The last time I practiced I couldn't really do the high-screech thing Baloff does as good as I used to be able to.
I figured if I purposely make my voice crack, I get close to Baloff's vocal style. It's weird, you'll have to hear it.

The funny thing is I play that part differently than Dave does. I learned the song by ear (really great ear training if any of you are into that) except for the solos, so some of the parts aren't exact, but played cleanly they sound pretty much the same. I never bothered to learn the real way, because I think it sounds so close.
When I learn the clean solo I'm going to have to take another look at Dave's solo, it sounded a little bit off to me on a couple phrases.

Yeah, and then they had another guy do vocals for them on that South American tour they did.
Gary says he complements their music well, and Rob says he tries to incorporate Zetro/Baloff's style whilst performing the classics. These are good words, but we'll just have to wait until the new album is released.

More suggestions, thanks. I know I hit a few dead notes in the solo, but I plan on re-recording a few times. I got the song structure right this time at least, and it's about the right length.
edit: Also, I think we should start putting a setlist together, and get some people not involved in BbB working on another song at the same time. If we have until August 1st I think we should try to get as many done as we can.

Yes, that solo is a bitch because I tend to hit lots of dead notes, or go too fast/slow. I'll get it tomorow.

From Blabbermouth.net:
"Guitarist Rick Hunolt has left long-running San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS, informed sources have told BLABBERMOUTH.NET.
Hunolt was apparently not involved in the recording process for the band's new album, which is currently being tracked at Trident studios in Pacheco, California.
EXODUS' as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2004's "Tempo of the ****ed" will mark the band's first release with new singer Rob Dukes. Mixing duties will be handled by Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, KREATOR). Among the tracks set to appear on the CD is "Shovel Headed Kill Machine" (working title), which guitarist Gary Holt has described as "one of the fastest EXODUS songs of all time."
EXODUS recently parted ways with longtime drummer Tom Hunting after Hunting was taken ill and had to be hospitalized several times, according to Holt. He has since been replaced in the group by ex-SLAYER/FORBIDDEN skinsman Paul Bostaph."
