I rocked out to a lot of songs, a few Slayer songs, then some Destruction (thrash till death), Overkill, tried my hand at some Testament, some old Metallica stuff, then some Kreator and then tried to see if i could play some of Suicide Command from Coroner.
I jammed for a pretty long time though than what I normally do.

I wouldn't consider The Haunted as thrash. It's like...too angsty for my tastes. However, a majority of us Titans of Thrash will disagree with The Haunted being thrash.
They might incorporate thrash elements into the music, but I still think of them as "Gothenburg".

no i definetly would consider them power metal, and so would many people
Heh, what's the best Exodus album?
I read they were similar to Ride The Lightning era Metallica? Well if possible, I would like the album which is closest to this, does that make sense? Anyway, yeah suggestions please. :)

the reason I guess they were "similar" is because Metallica stole a bunch of Exodus's riffs and put them in songs on Ride the Lightning, such as Creeping Death, and Trapped Under Ice
I got in touch with some people affiliated with the scene in Europe, and a bunch of demos are being sent to my house as we speak.

Yeah, I get that kind of stuff too. Friends like "Check out this band," I listen, say I don't like it much (usually its some post-hardcore screamo crap), and they go "Well of course you don't its not 80s metal." Or some girl like "Why don't you like emo?" I say something about its childish lyrics, annoying vocals, and boring riffs, and she goes "Its way better than some 40 year old trying to write music."
Actually, funniest story was when our school's girls track team won this big competition thing and all day they were talking about it so much I just go "Jesus ****ing Christ we get it, you won, shut the hell up about it" and this girl goes (I was wearing a Megadeth shirt at the time) "I don't see Megadeth winning any ****ing trophies."

Well, since I'm gonna end up having to play lead guitar in my band, im taking it on... ive been working on those solos from Hangar 18... man, i really should've learned how to play lead a while ago, it would've been easier. The first four are pretty easy... except the second one, because i have no sweep technique yet. I guess this week is a good time to ****ing practice it huh? Those solos ****ing rip tho.. Friedman is a god!
I'm listening to Sodom's M-16 on my guitar break... this and Enemy of God are probably my most played new albums ever. I actually like this Sodom cd more than Agent Orange... more of a fuzzy guitar tone and more to the riffs i think. I'm into those real buzzy, more midrange oriented tones, Agent Orange's guitar sound wasn't the kind i like. Those were some great songs tho.

Kids at my school used to hassle me as well. Then I brought my guitar to school one day and played about two minutes of a Coroner song (D.O.A.), and everyone was like, "Man, that sounded wicekd!" I chuckled and told them that that was a bit of the thrash metal that I normally listen to, and the stuff you look down on. They kinda took that as a slap in the face I guess, and didn't talk smack ever again.
I checked out that new Destruction song. It sounds solid, and I like the subtle use of blastbeats. This looks like a promising upcoming album from Schmier & Pals.

Aye, I've always worshipped people like Dave Mustaine, and I've always been a riff kinda guy. My first guitar had the most horrible action above the 12th fret that you could imagine (warped beyond repair), so playing riffs became habit. Still, now that I'm actually playing some leads, i dig it. I'm doing the sound engineering for the school play all week, so when im in that sound booth im going to be getting a couple hours of it in every night, not to mention the playing i do while home.

I read something about that, I think it said something like He and D.D. Verni were fighting and D.D. wanted to leave the band, but somehow he ended up leaving and I doubt he would get back with them because they got in fights because he wasn't getting royalties for the songs he wrote after he left band

Wasn't Bonded by Blood written in 83? I read somewhere that if it was released when it was written, Exodus could've been given credit for the first thrash album.
The writing process was completed in '84.
If Overkill had actually gotten signed, the first thrash album would've been released in 1980 or early '81.

I also bumped into dittohead from the Exodus board more than a few times, last i saw he was on his 5th beer of the evening :p We just screamed "Testament!" at each other for a while. Chuck looked right at me quite a few times, i just shouted to him and thrashed. Alex was actually headbanging too! It was amazing and i cant really pick all of the great moments out. It was filmed too, so i should be on it. Pics should be up soon, the setlist was(in no order, they opened with Preacher then went straight into New Order!!):
The Preacher
The Haunting
Electric Crown
The New Order
Sins of Omission
In to the Pit
Souls of Black
Let Go of my World
Practise What you Preach
Trial by Fire
Over the Wall
The Legacy
Raging Waters
Disciples of the Watch
They screwed up during Disciples :p

Their all good really, but i guess i'd say Darkness Descends and/or Leave Scars for the more brutal and fast stuff. We Have Arrived is in the same vein of Kill 'Em All kinda thrash, and Time Does Not Heal is just heavy as hell

With Belladonna or Bush?
If it's with Belladonna, I want a setlist from the Joey days. If it's with Bush I want a Bush setlist; I don't want Joey butchering Bush songs.

This has been another dreadfully difficult time here in the exodus world…this is one of the most depressing moments of my musical career…I‘m saddened to announce that Tom Hunting has fallen very ill, he’s been hospitalized several times over the course of the last two months. First things first! I need to be very clear about this before any rumors arise….this is in NO WAY associated to drugs…Tom had conquered his drug addiction well over a year ago and we are all very very proud of him for the unbelievable amount of strength and desire that it took to get and stay clean.. Our unfortunate reality at the moment is, the recording of the new album has been delayed due to Tom’s illness and recently it became evident that he would be unable to resume his duties behind the kit for us. …. Tom and the band both know he cannot continue as our drummer and his health must come before any obligations to the band. We have and will continue to support Tom in any way we can so he can regain his health. We all love and care for Tom dearly and will continue to help him in every way that we can….by no means was Tom fired or nor did Tom quit the band …the sad fact is that Tom is not able to play drums at this time….and we (Exodus) have got to carry on without him…. On a brighter note I'd like to take this time to welcome to our ranks as the newest member of Exodus,” Paul Bostaph” (Slayer, Forbidden) We could not be any luckier than to have as awesome a drummer as Paul available and living in our own backyard. I am stoked about working with Paul as he is, bar none, one of the best drummers in the world, and we are fired up to have someone with his ability coming aboard. Obviously, the tracking of the new record will be delayed, but we are committed to hitting the studio ASAP. The songs are ****in' savage and a perfect fit for Paul's style of drumming. As soon as we get into the studio and start tracking I will keep everyone updated on how things are going via the exodus message board…..my goal will be to give a daily studio report…..and before you know it maybe a few sound clips will be made available to hold you over until the September release… -Gary Holt
wow, this came right out of the blue.

Chuck either starting singing the wrong lines or came in at the wrong point, cant remember which :p
My second favorite drummer has fallen ill. This ****ing sucks! Although Bostaph is a great drummer, Exodus needs Tom. They just aren't Exodus without him. :upset:

I wouldn't care if Joey butchered a Bush song, as I don't like very many of them. If I'm going to see Anthrax though, I want alot of Fistful of Metal to Sound of White Noise stuff.
I recently developed a bad addiction to the new Heathen song. :D

You never got into Metal Church? You're missing out man!
Tom not coming back shouldn't push you forward to a decision of not listening to Exodus anymore. Especially if he has no choice but to stop playing, that's just retarded. Now what CAN stop you from listening to Exodus is their new singer. He better not blow goat balls.

Alright, so I finally have a Razor update of some sort. The new CD should be released with the DVD this year... Dave has finally gone to get surgery on his hand. So he'll once again be able to play guitar, and finish that new CD!
It better be out by the end of this year, OR ELSE!!!

He wasn't forced to quit, he's taken time off to re-coup. I also HIGHLY doubt thrash will leave his heart, as he was there when the Bay Area scene first started. Thrash is as big a part of him, as much as he is a big part of thrash.

Lets hope both of these come to us thrashers as good news. I've been waiting some time for a new Razor update.
I read on Metal Archives there's supposed to be a lot of extra features to the DVD.
Hell, I'll save my money for that, the Eternal Nightmare Re-Release, the new Destruction album, and this stuff.
Can't pass up good stuff. Especially if it's Razor

Is that the Sydney or Melbourne show? I was thinking of going to go to that, but none of my friends want to go, and I'm not a big enough Anthrax fan to warrant going myself.
Since I've been hearing they're covering their old stuff quite nicely, you should rob the nearest bank as soon as possible.
Especially if they play Gung-Ho as an encore like they did last month.

I enjoy Anthrax to be sure and Dave Mustaine last month proved to me that 40 year olds who've been doing it for about 20 years can still thrash out well, but nothing draws me to the show in the same way Megadeth did. And plus they announced a Motorhead/Motley Crue show in December which I'm keen to get a good ticket to see because I haven't seen Lemmy live before.
Obviosuly you guys shouldn't really have to care :P It's a bit slow this thread at the moment.
Been listening to Horde of Torment, Hirax and Holy Terror lately because today was brought to you by the number 666 and the letter H. I really love the Hate Fear and Power record by Hirax. It;s a nice short listen and the vocals 'speak' to me. Anyone else a fan?
