Just had a thought. How many of us here have friends who are into Thrash, or even just metal in general?

I have a few friends who are into metal in some form.

One is into Metalcore and Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth and some Slayer.

One is/was a big metalhead (he actually got me into metal), he used to like the big thrash bands, some death metal but these days he seems to be listening to more and more hardcore/metalcore and less metal

One also used to be a big metalhead but now listens to heaps of alt rock. He is/was still a huge a fan of the Gothenburg scene.

One seems to go through phases. 18 months ago it was underground rap, 12 - 6 months ago it was Dimmu, Opeth and Emperor and Melo-death. Now i don't really know what he listens to.

One is into Power metal, Prog rock and Classic rock.
My band mates and a few other people I know listen to basically all metal, they actually know more bands then I do and are a great resource. Outside of them, uh I don't really know any metal heads, no.

Yeah, it is rather a good setlist. I was rather disappointed yesterday when they didn't play Hook In Mouth...that's one of my fave 'Deth tracks.

I'm not too up on Dew-Scented. They sound interesting enough though. What album would you recommend first?

I have Impact, which appears to be the best of their work so far. I found out about one of the songs through the Armaegedon Over Wacken DVD I have, and I thought Cities of the Dead was a **** good song. Most of the tracks are full out speed assault, and I have to admit the vocals and guitars can get a bit odd, but sometimes I notice some good, quality riffing going on.

If I get the chance, I might rip it on here and try to upload it so you anyone else interested can here.

Well I have a band with three friends - so they all enjoy metal (not all kinds though). They're into Symphony X, Children of Bodom, Dream Theater Megadeth, Slayer, Metallica, Testament, Opeth, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Atheist, etc...nothing too obscure or too extreme ala death/black metal. The bassist is also a big fan of prog-rock and shi.t. I have another friend who's at boarding school now and he's into thrash/heavy/power/progressive metal. I basically got all of my friends to listen to metal, and it all started with Iron
Maiden - Aces High.

Edit: New downloads include: Sodom - Persecution Mania and Ulysses Siren - Above the Ashes.

The Testament album? It's very repetitive, and all of the songs are structured in pretty much the same way. A die-hard Testament fan would enjoy it though. My "favorite" song from that album would have to be Legions of the Dead.

ATTN: I bought Mekong Delta's "The Music of Erich Zann" today, listened to it, and was amazed. It's great technical/progressive thrash; I highly recommend that everyone buys/downloads it.

Gah, I missed so much in just one night x_x

The real story behind why is because my crappy *** HP Desktop from about 4 1/2 years ago crapped out on me with a "Windows Protection Error", so I was pissed off like Schmier at Wacken when Mike's amps died, and then I was on my mom's Dell Dimension, but couldn't log in.

Although I got to listen to me metal tunes :)

Anyways, I managed to fix my computer today after about 2 hours and some math with dinner. Now that I've returned, I shall:

-Look into the bands RCA mentioned.
-In response to Vio-lence's post about me getting an M-16 Ammo belt, it's only 30 bucks from StudsandSpikes.com

I can check to see if they ship overseas...I don't know if they do but for sure I'm getting one. All I need are my camoflauge pants from the army store that I can get this Friday.
-I think Low is a very awesome Testament album. Souls of Black doesn't cut it for me x.x

If that is true, I'll definately be trying to nab a ticket!

I just finished listening to that second Morbid Saint album. While it isn't as relentless as SoD, I happen to like it. The songs work well; on their own or listened to one after the other. The highlight for me is Living Misery. The part that starts at 2:31 is just VICIOUS!

If the Corporal speaks the truth, count me in

I tried listening to the Morbid Saint album. For some reason the volume is rather weak. I started to get a bit fustrated, but I just had rebooted my entire computer and it tended to get ****ed up here and there.

I'll give it another shot tonight. As for the ammo belt, I wonder what'll happen if I wore mine out in public...hmm

Lol. I never really thought about that but now that you do mention it, I'm kind of unsure about what the cops will do >.>

Normally where I hang out, there's not many cops around. Now if I goto to this city called Monrovia, they'll definitely be on my *** about it. Plus, I saw some punk guy wearing an ammo belt like 2 weeks ago on Main Street. Hmm...I could always say "It holds my pants from falling...seriously".

Ahh...way off topic. I guess I could add another thrash CD to my collection sometime. I was thinking maybe Taking Over (if my Local Best Buy has it), and then if I have some money left over next month, I'll get another one. Right now I pretty much stocked up on the music, so now I'm trying to save up so I can get out of the box called my room XD

Everyone pretty much flamed him after they read it. I still think some of the commentors don't understand "In My Own Opinion".

Then I found about about this band called Occult. Supposedly, it's black/thrash, just like Aura Noir and Destroyer 666. I mean, not the same sound, but somewhat in the same ballpark. I only hard a partial clip, but I just wanted to see if anyone else here has heard of them.

Do you have Violent Restitution?

RCA
04-24-2005, 09:49 PM
Actually, buy both of them. Here's my breakdown of them both:

Violent Restitution: All of the songs are pretty short for the most part (three minutes and under). When listened to as a full album, it sounds like one really well-written, insanely aggressive thrash song, with a hell of alot of great breakdowns and thrashbreaks.

Open Hostility: Here, the songs can function well on their own. Listening to a song by itself neither adds nor takes away from the quality of the album, and listening to the album all the way from track one doesn't give you any better perspective of it. Each song has its share of aggression, great riffs, and monster thrash breaks, just like on VR. In fact, this album picks up basically were Shotgun Justice left off, and Shotgun Justice was basically another run at the sound Violent Restitution had. Call this a Violent Restitution Part Three (a good thing) if you wish. ***NOTE*** A drum machine was used on this album, therefore that isn't Rob Mills you're hearing behind the kit. Rob Mills can play these songs up to speed though, so just imagine it actually IS him behind the kit.

I was on earlier, but I was in a bit of rush to get on and off.

I haven't much to say but I gave my "Live Without Sense" CD a spin in my CD player. Great stuff. I'm glad I picked up last Friday.

If I ever get my friend to listen to more of my collection of music, this is a higly recommended CD she must listen to >.>

Edit: I was on Holy Moses' website earlier, sampling a few songs from their new album Strength Will Power Passion (I think that's what it's called).

I find it to be within my ballpark of musical taste, but then again, I need to sample the entire album when they have all the tracks up.

:( ****...I'm sorry to hear that. How short is it?

Mine is long, but somewhat like...semi long. It goes to about my ears, but the back reaches near the bottom of my neck. I might have to trim it again, but at least this will be the last time since summer is coming.

Then when I graduate, it's long hair heaven :D

Good luck with the job though. I get my letter from the local hospital in about a week regarding my interview for the volunteer position.

i havent heard destruction, what other bands do they sounds like ?

Well, it's pretty hard to describe their sound accurately. Their sound was a bit NWOBHM sounding thrash, somewhat like Venom. They later moved on to a Slayer like sound (Release From Agony), but to me, they sound like german thrash that shows that complex riffs, once and a while high pitched screams, talented drumming (especially on All Hell Breaks Loose and The Antichrist), can exist in thrash.

Their sound to me is incopyable. It's like a cross between Coroner's first album and Slayer's stuff to me.

However, it's really good \m/. Give some of their early work a shot, and then check out the Antichrist and All Hell Breaks Loose.

Wow, it's been a while since I've been on here!

Well, this weekend me and my heterolifemate John Coben took my Mithryl Mobile/Shaggin Wagon down to Anaheim, CA, where we saw Vader and Kreator at the House of Blues. That has to have been one of the coolest concerts I have ever seen! The opening band sucked, but who'd imagine otherwise? The second Vader came out, I was floored. The energy and music was ****ing awesome, and they put on a great show. Peter is a good frontman, he's a pretty funny guy. After a mere 40 minutes or so (ripoff!!!), Kreator came out and showed me what a true ****ing thrash concert is like! Man, from the second I heard "Choir of the ****ed" over the P.A. to the end of Flag of Hate (encore-ender), I was in heaven. That was the greatest concert ever! Plus, I left with this nifty Pleasure to Kill shirt... not bad for some metalhead who lives in the middle of nowhere.

To top it all off , Kerry King, of Slayer fame, just so happened to be standing outside the place, signing tickets and shootin the ****. I got my ticket signed, and I am a happy man.

Peace.

I have a project due in English tommorow. My friend Carl is going to read a poem we researched, while I play guitar under what he's reading. The first three stanzas are going to have mellow sounding phrases under them, but after that I'm going to play about half of Inquisition Symphony under the poem.

That should scare the hell out of my English teacher:

Anthrax - Spreading The Disease, 2003 W.C.F.Y.A. tour shirt and 2004 Music of Mass Destruction tour shirt
Pantera - Stripper

*needs some patches and studs for teh LeAtHeR vEst*

I've looked around a few ideas, and I just haven't decided when I'll decorate my vest. I've already decorated this jacket I got like almost 3 years ago. I was looking at stuff at the Army store, but they didn't have crap. Then I found this nice, looking jacket (same color as the threads here, but the ones toward the left, like a dark aqua) and completely terrorized it XD

Actually, I got this Gap jacket that was like about 40 bucks. Nice color, and it had plenty of space for my patches. I put a majority of my favorite bands at the time, mainly just metal bands, then I wrote "R.I.P Dimebag" and the lyrics to Remember The Fallen and Masked Jackal on the front of it.

If they lyrics are still there when I get it back tommorrow from the cleaners, I'll try my best to post pictures. Not a thrash jacket, but a metal jacket that's like...a soon to be high school memory XD (did it right during the summer after Freshman year too).
