I heard Party With God is supposed to be really good, i kinda got the two names mixed up so instead i got Too Cool To Pray. The vocals remind me a bit of John Tardy except you can actually hear whats being sung

Well that's no good. One of the coolest things about Tardy was hardly being able to understand him. Like in the intro to Cause of Death... "EEEYIIII! ADIIIII! YEEEEEIIIII! YAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Cardinal Sin.... i've heard the name but i haven't downloaded anything by them. What are they like?

Right on the disc it says "OLD SCHOOL THRASH METAL".

It's agressive at times, but mostly it's upbeat and has a positive message. The rythms are really fast and the solos are pretty good. The singer imitates the dudes from Metallica and Slayer.

It's pretty fast stuff and has tons of changes in the music. I don't know too much about thrash so you'd have to hear it.

Grrr, why is everyone so stupid in that ****ing Metallica thread. They can't even grasp simple concepts, asmuch as I shotgun it into their brains.

Apparently, my idea with the Metallica fans is that when people like a specific band (such as Metallica), they tend to like, worship them like a God.

To me, I think they're ignorant. I was offered to play in this band called Black Dawn, but the bassist and I didn't get along with the whole influences. He was trying to push me into the band, even when I was still suffering from a lot of trouble in life, which I have gotten better from. Then came the big fued. He was just heavily into Metallica, and that's all he cared about...

All it was about on music was "Metallica guitars with Maiden vocals". I don't mind Maiden, but Metallica...ugh, I specifically kept telling him I was into "Extreme Thrash, heavy, fast and deadly". He didn't get the idea that Metallica with some Slayer moments wouldn't cut it.

Then finally he was like "oh w/e dude, I can't bull**** right now. Family Guy is on!"

Just earlier today, I asked my own mother about America, and how a majority of Americans sit around the tube just to watch the latest episode of "Desperate Housewives", or "American Idol". Hell, even "The OC".

If they want more entertainment, they should come to my city, Los Angeles. I guess it's that exciting to watch people's drama.

Eh, I guess I was bit bitter, but Family Guy is awesome though. However it's dumb when you let you have to go to catch a re-run that you can probably watch again in 3 hrs...that is if you're an insomiac.

/end.

yeah, I know this dude, who is all about Metallica, he dosent want to listen to anything else, and I've forcefed him, Kreator, Dark Angel, Slayer, Destruction, Death, Vio-lence and the just about any other thrash band that is better than Metallica. And still, all he listens to is Metallica, is pathetic, even Metallica's old stuff is way overrated, I mean I like the Ride the Lightning, but it's definatley not a Leave Scars, or an Eternal Devastation, or even a Show No Mercy or KIMB. It's kind of sad that out of all the thrash bands, society really had to hold on to Metallica instead of another band that actually has some balls

I did a quick research on "Decibels", and supposedly, it's just like any other Razor album. Fast, heavy, full speed ahead and no compromising. It's said to be probably one of the last best releases from the band...I better go back and read that review and do some more research a bit.

Personally, I think Evil Invaders is a **** good CD. Now what makes it more funny is if you put "in my pants" at the end of any song you're listening to.

Decibels isn't the best Razor release... not musically, lyrically, anything, but it is still decent.

RCA, Razor isn't gonna be playing there any time soon... they hardly ever play. They've played 2 shows in the past 2 and a half years. Both shows were in Toronto...and now it seems the band has fallen off the face of the earth. All the members are doing other projects right now, except for Dave Carlo, who injured his arm a while back.

Tim Mallare - Drums
Dave Linsk - Guitars
Derek Tailer - Bass
Some guy named Mario on Vocals

The top three are all current Overkill members, so I haven't yet sample these guys, but I'm sure they're very similar to the 'Kill, just maybe with a different taste of vocals

I just realized at the end of Mad Butcher (The one ThrashMaster kindly donated), they play "The Pink Panther".

Just listen to it after the song ends, and after awhile, there will be some silence. Then they come back with some weird song, but it's the Pink Panther theme XD

That's just as classic as Rotten To The Core (live) with You Are My Sunshine from the **** You and Then Some EP, then Stalinhagel's odd ending on One Night in Bangkok, then...well lets see, who else does some crazy things in thrash...

Coroner's cover of Purple Haze makes me want to go learn it XD

Picked up a few records the other day on LP. A really nice collection there pretty much all albums from Exodus, Rage, Destruction, Possessed, Testament, Maiden, Bathory, Flotsam and Jetsam and a few Slayer. Could only pick up a few things and mainly wanted stuff I've already listned to extensively to get the 'genuine article.'

Maiden - Powerslave, Seventh Son
Anthrax - Spreading the Disease
Bathory - The Return
Testament - Practice What You Preach
Possessed - Seven Churches

Could've had Darkness Descends, but the LP was a bit shot up and had been played too often :D I don't care what you say about the Testament record, it's one of my favourites. I like the streamlined sound they'd found by then and lost the bull**** aggression they were never really as good at as the big 4. Wish I could've bought more, very reasonable prices. Ended up $50 total and a lot of it sounds better than I remember it. There are bass parts on the Maiden records which are inaudible on CD and when you're talking Steve Harris you want to hear it all and I'm happy to see the Anthrax cover art in 12" glory.

I have an 1989 bootleg where they play it, but it's not on Live Kreation or anything, also Toxic Trace, No Escape and Stroming with Menace are all great too. Too bad they never play that stuff

Hey has anyone heard of Headhunter, Schmier's band after he left Destruction. The albums are out of print and I was wondering if anyone happened to have them. I also heard that a thrash band called Poltergiest is good, does anyone have any of them either?

From what I know, well, at least have read, Headhunter was a power metal band according to Metal-Archives >.>

No wonder why Schmier's vocals are still the same

Speaking of Destruction, I was just playing Mad Butcher on guitar not too long ago. Sweet *** song...hehe

It sounds a lot like something Anthrax would produce. But there's three tracks that are pretty different. One is acoustic/clean for the most part (Veil of Deception) with an absolutely beautiful melodic solo in the middle. One is kind of funky with a cool bassline, and the other, A Room With A View, is a nice little ballad. The rest is pretty solid thrash, nothing too amazing, but those three tracks set it apart IMO. Its not that aggressive or anything, but its good work. It costs like $5 too.

Hmm.

I'm really liking Dew-Scented. I know you guys don't call them thrash (I might be wrong, but I know what Dargon would tell me XD), but I think they're really interesting. Pretty pounding and aggressive, not even close to being melodic.

It's like Enemy of God without the Melodicness and Gothenburgness + Pounding Riffs. The vocals don't really sound the best...but it kind of reminds me of Max Cavalera mixed with Mille and Schmier...

It sounds weird XD, but the CD is good.

I also got the "Rude Awakening" from Megadeth (the DVD). Man, some good stuff. I like it a lot. Good set list, excellent sound, and awesome performance. They didn't headbang that much x.x, but the music was top of the notch.

Just had a thought. How many of us here have friends who are into Thrash, or even just metal in general?

I have a few friends who are into metal in some form.

One is into Metalcore and Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth and some Slayer.

One is/was a big metalhead (he actually got me into metal), he used to like the big thrash bands, some death metal but these days he seems to be listening to more and more hardcore/metalcore and less metal

One also used to be a big metalhead but now listens to heaps of alt rock. He is/was still a huge a fan of the Gothenburg scene.

One seems to go through phases. 18 months ago it was underground rap, 12 - 6 months ago it was Dimmu, Opeth and Emperor and Melo-death. Now i don't really know what he listens to.

One is into Power metal, Prog rock and Classic rock.

DisposableHeroes
04-17-2005, 06:25 AM

I have three friends who listen to metal.

One is a nu-metal/metalcore fanatic, one is a "black metal head" who listens to CoF (:p) and the third is a prog-metal fanatic who thinks Symphony X are underground. So yeah, good for me.

In High School, I had a really awesome Thrash/Classic metalhead friend, but he moved to Melbourne. :(

ThrashMaster27
04-17-2005, 06:35 AM
Most of my friends are into Metal of some kind, plus I have converted a few people by playing things at partys/gatherings/box socials :p

I'd say most of them are into lighter stuff than me though. Most can't put up with some of the other stuff like most of the aggressive Euro-Thrash. They seem to concentrate on the vocals too much.
