Dargon, The Haunted aren't whiffle-thrash. They aren't even thrash!
Whiffle-thrash is highly polished (production-wise) and politically charged thrash with watered-down and repetitive riffs. Some whiffle-thrash is good though, because the riffs are good at times and don't bore you when they are repeated. Note how in my profile I stated against bad whiffle-thrash.
Notable whiffle-thrash albums:
Testament - Practice What You Preach
Exodus - Fabulous Disaster (Not fully a whiffed album, though helped usher in the genre. An example of a good "whiffed" thrash album.)
Exodus - Impact Is Imminent (WHIFF! Only Death Decides is a good song though.)
:thumb:
Oh, I wasn't sure. I thought it was like gaythenburg/thrash stuff. Thanks.
I'm going to have to check out Leviathan now.

Coma Of Souls
or
Extreme Aggressions?
Oh, and does anyone know where I can find some songs off of Violators "Violent Mosh"?
Both are good to get, but you'll be more satisfied in getting Extreme Aggressions first and then getting Coma of Souls. It'll be better for you to listen to the progression of style between those two albums.
I think Violator has some sample tracks on their website, although the site is entirely in Portuguese. Your best bet is to use a p2p program to d/l some Violator.
ThrashMaster27
03-21-2005, 03:22 PM
They're my 2 faves strangely enough. There's little between the 2 in regard to being great albums. I always pick Extreme Aggression over Coma of Souls, but it's usually depending on my weekly mood.

I've been looking around for that, but no success as of yet. I do know where I could find a post-Dark-Angel demo, by a band under a different name, although I forget the name now.
ThrashMaster: I laughed
RCA: Your new avatar is rendered obsolete by the fact that all poseurs are ignorant. So, it's like saying "Death to Ignorant Ignoramuses". Kinda redundant.

Yeah, Breaking The Silence is the better choice for me aswell. Fave Heathen song is Death By Hanging though, tis a classic. I know what you mean about Hobbs Angel of Death aswell, they are rather average. Considering they only released 2 albums, only one which is 'mostly' good. Still! very enjoyable. Weird that their bassist is in Destroyer 666 now aswell.

I feel Darkness Descends is getting a bit overrated as of late. While it definately is great, it isn't the greatest. I think I'm going to change my review of it, but it still gets five stars.

NP: Dark Angel - An Ancient Inherited Shame
People I've been talking to online and around where I live claim that nothing beats Darkness Descends, and it is the thrash-album-to-end-all-thrash-albums. This is a somewhat truthful statement, but these people don't know **** about thrash. I've recommended many different bands for them to listen and they say,"NO NO! I've heard Darkness Descends, I'm set for thrash." It gets quite irritating, and this a factor for my intolerance of ignorant metalheads.
Yes, it's a great album, but it's not the ONLY album.
Internal Conflicts is on Grin by the way.

Today though was a bitch, probably failed my performance portion of the tech exam, but I was at school almost until 5:30, just trying to fix that drawing...gah I hate designing crap.
So normally as I would be all whacked out and hyper, I'm pissed and angered because I didn't get to eat, I had to piss, and I was really pissed about the way the drawing was coming out.
Luckily, I have some thrash to listen to :) . That'll make it all better.

There's a video for the Thrash of The Titans back in 2001. After watching it, I felt enlightened...weird XD

Too much Gothenburg influences wich makes most of the album a throw away. Why can't they be like Destruction or Exodus and play some full aggressive thrash? Because they are lame, but whatever. There is a few good songs on it, I enjoyed the title track, Murder Fantasies, and World Anarchy, but in World Anarchy they kind of **** on the song with that mellow part at the end. Yeah, it's not really very good is it. Anybody ever heard any Chilean Thrash? I was on Audiostreet the other day and the thing was packed with it. Not too good mind you, which was a shame.

You must be pretty bored with life if you get your kicks from forum flame wars. Yeah, I've heard Pentagram, but not Torturer. I'll have a gallop around and see if I can find anything by them. Oh yeah, everyone check out a band called Militant on Audiostreet and download a track called Nazgul. It's either I'm going mad or that's Venom - Black Metal in disguise.

Ok, so, Mortal Sin - Mayhemic Destruction isn't bad, but it's a bit less extreme than I was looking for. For some reason I expected it to be brutal ripping thrash.

Many people have said it was Daves influence on Metallica that made them Thrash. He contributes on The Four Horsemen, Metal Militia, Phantom Lord, Jump In The Fire, Ride The Lightning and The Call of Ktulu. Aside from the last one on the list, most of the songs seem to be very Thrash orientated, especially Metal Militia. It may be a coincidence, but who knows.

Another one of things you only hear on that album too is "BURN IN HELL!" or "SIX SIX SIX!"
  Yeah, you can always just make out the '666', to me it sounds like he's saying it in French e.g 'Seece Seece Seece'
It would be great to see Possessed live :thumb:

That'd really help me right now, because I just came back from the DMV, and **** man...the examiner was a douche, a really big douche. He said I made 20 errors, which I think is crap because I did everything my dad taught my sister, and at least tried to remember what the driving school taught me.
God do I hate Southern California...I need some thrash...that'll make me feel better.
MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD BUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTCHHHHHHEEEEEEERRRR! *Mike plays the intro riff*
hehe :) me happy again

On Possessed - The Exorcist, Jmet once pointed out to me that around 40 seconds it sounds like he says "and drink alot of beer".
That album owns so hard. People must have died when they heard it in 1985.

That song just makes me feel that Possessed are possessed - the opening riff with the tormented vocals just made me fit and order all of Possessed's material.

No worries, Dargon.

There is a live Possessed album out there, I don't have it though. I forgot the name of it too, but it's probably cool as hell.
NP: Destruction - Bullets From Hell
Yeah, I was thinking about buying it. I have two Possessed bootlegs though, so I already have a slight taste of one of their gigs.

I just got a Soothsayer demo from '86, it's good stuff, but the vocals are a little different than on the album Have A Good Time, they are more yelling and screaming, it's kinda of annoying, but....still it's solid old thrash :thumb:

Hey! an EP for a Titans title. Never seen that before. Thank holy **** Anthrax are coming with their Among The Living line up. Why don't people call it the Spreading the Disease line up! they were all on that aswell. Anyway, popularity I guess.

cause Among the Living is far superior, but with that said, it's still not very good. Anthrax are a bunch of hasbeens now... should have quit long ago. Especially with the amount of whining they do now.

It was only 6 bucks too, with a good amount of songs from Among the Living etc, and just wondering if you guys heard of it. ANy good?

Definitely. I got Among The Living for $9.99. Best deals are the ones kept secret.
I'm possibly going to get the Chaos DVD from Sepultura sometime, but I'm sort of hesitating. However, with it being 14 bucks, I can't pass it up. 1 compaltion of some good stuff (well, mainly the first 2) is not bad.

You should get it, the Under Siege part is excellent and the Chaos part of the dvd has some excellent videos, one of them being 'Inner Self' live '89. The Roots part though is not too great.
