They suck and are not thrash.
In one of the commercials for The Haunted, a magazine said "Forget Slayer...who needs Slayer when you have The Haunted?"
That really got me disliking them because old Slayer PwNz The Haunted x123214294959605460346934064386293572 timez lololol
Ok so old Slayer is good, but the Haunted are no where near thrash, and well, I don't know if they will considering they're trying add all those thrash elements to their Gothenburg melodic sound...
In one of the commercials for The Haunted, a magazine said "Forget Slayer...who needs Slayer when you have The Haunted?"
It should have read, "Why rip out your eardrums and get ****ed by goat when The Haunted's music can do it all for you?" (Implied insult)
DimebagDarrell

i think its hard for me to put the haunted in a genre i dont think they are that bad but i can also hear a massive slayer influence download "my shadow" and then listen to season in the abyss and you wil know why its a complete rip off.

Besides Sadus and Coroner could you suggest me any other technical thrash groups?
Hm... Voivod, maybe... Coma of Souls-era Kreator, of course... thrash isn't really that technical. You could try Testament for Skolnik's solos. The only albums worth getting are The Legacy and The New Order.
Oh, and Mustaine's riffing in Megadeth is pretty technical. If you don't know them. But I'm sure you do.

I'm already familiar with all the groups you mentioned besides Voivod as I never bothered to check them out for some reason. Any song/album suggestions or other info? Is it true that when the recorded their first album they were quite immature musicians or something?

I can't really help you, I only heard a few songs of theirs. I have no albums. That's why I said "maybe". Look them up on http://www.classicthrash.com and look at the desriptions of the albums to see which one appeals to you. Don't pay attention to his ratings though, his ratings are anus - he gave Finished With The Dogs 5/5 and Pleasure to Kill 3/5?!!!!!!!! x 666

I picked up an album called Have a Good Time by a band called Soothsayer, I think it came out in 86 and it's thier only album and they're from Canada. The only reason I found out about these guys was I saw Ventor wearing a shirt that said "soothsayer" on it in the Toxic Trace Video. I decided to check the band out, and they are great old school thrash. I can't really compare them to anyone, the are pretty unique and have a great variety of songs. Testament hates thier American fans
This is right off thier website
" Testament lead vocalist, Chuck Billy, and founding guitarist, Eric Peterson announce that original guitar player Alex Skolnick, and original bassist Greg Christian, and previous Testament drummer alumnist Johnny Tempesta, are joining them for a Reunion Tour in Europe, May 7 to May 15 ONLY. The tour will last for 9 shows only.
Each of the other three musicians have other bands, projects, and recordings coming out, but they have all agreed to join forces with Chuck and Eric to blow out this limited reunion tour in May. Chuck Billy is quoted as saying "I'm in music to enjoy it, and playing with my old band-mates after all these years will be killer!" Eric Peterson adds "This reunion tour takes me back 20 years, the fans will freak seeing us together again!""

Dimebag: "teh puss" means it's pussy music.
Speaking of Metallica, what's the jury on the identical intro riffs to Leper Messiah and Among The Living? Who ripped off who? I know that ATL is usually considered to have come out a couple months after MoP but it's unlikely anyone ripped off Metallica...
I'll listen to that clownphobia guy's song in a moment, but keep in mind this guy posted "Can anyone match JAYMEZ HATFEELDS RIFFANG??///" so he's probably wrong :p

Finally got Sodom-Persecution Mania/In the sign on Evil/Cruelty Obsessed. I really like PM, But ITSOE isn't as great. By the way, Morbid Angel were awesome, Pete is practically god. Also, I found out Overkill is touring, yet not coming to Massachusetts BASTARDS
I listened to Horde of Torment's "Product Of A Sick Mind" today, and then d/l'ed it. Another really solid brutal thrash album, highly recommended. The band split up in the early nineties though, so there won't be anymore material by them to find.

Yes... 'Gothen****ed' as it's known. Can't say it bothers me too much myself, but I like a lot of music that comes from Sweden. Interesting though, them being from Germany and all. Well I suppose it infected America aswell....in a bad way.
Yeah, alright, new topic of discussion now I return from a lengthy stint away from the Internet. Best Thrash album covers? may have been done, but screw it. Harsh :p
whatduf****: there are far greater thrash bands than Metallica and Anthrax, in fact Metallica were one of the worser thrash bands IMO.
If you wanna get into thrash though, try pre-Chaos A.D Sepultura, definitely get Darkness Descends - Dark Angel plus other stuff by them, every Kreator album from Endless Pain- Coma of Souls, like Dargon says, Bonded by Blood is a must :thumb: and to balance it out, get the Years of Decay - Overkill, The Legacy - Testament and Flotsam and Jetsam - Doomsday for the Deceiver to satisfy your lighter thrash needs ;) I don't think I need to express my opinion on Slayer, just get everything by them except for maybe God Hates Us All.
All of the above is just the tip of the (thrash) iceberg. Happy listening :p

Well said. That made me laugh a bit, but then again, I've had a **** day with the impossible Chemistry and reading "The Great Gatsby". I listened to some Thrash while working, and well, I got nothing more to say >.>
I've been looking on the net for some good thrash bands out today, and I've actually found some really neat ones from South America. It seems to me that thrash only exists outside of America now ._.
Now everyone wants to be like In Flames, Soilwork, or The Haunted. If this is what's replacing thrash, I might as well cry...ok bad idea.
I just decided to leave such a long post because I saw how Vio-lence was pissed about certian members not leaving anything, so here's my weekly post. I've actually listened to the sound clips from Vio-Lence on their site, and wow, if those are from Eternal Nightmare, I can't wait for the re-release...definitely worth my money.

I thought that was Ron Rinehart. Well at least from what I can remember, the girl said "MR. RON RINEHART!".
Wasn't Ron the vocalist after Doty got ejected because he couldn't stay on the beat and couldn't keep up with the band?

San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS will enter the studio in early April to begin recording the follow-up to last year's "Tempo of the ****ed", tentatively due this fall via Nuclear Blast Records. EXODUS' as-yet-untitled new album will once again be produced by Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE) and will mark the band's first release with new vocalist Rob Dukes. Among the tracks set to appear on the CD is "Shovel Headed Kill Machine" (working title), which guitarist Gary Holt has described as "one of the fastest EXODUS songs of all time."

If you actually listened to the songs, right before they play Necrophobic, Tom says something like "Sorry this is our first time playing BIRMINGHAM" and then he said stuff like "it was the record companies fault"
So obviously you're not even listening to the music :amaze:

Actually, they were in England in 1987 according to the Soundtrack To The Apocalypse booklet.
Hope you have a good time at the show! :)
I believe they played in England before '87, on the Hell Awaits tour in London at the Marquee, Tom says something in the Soundtrack' booklet about having to drive stick shift and being spat on in England and I'm sure it was on their first European tour '84-'85ish

It's pretty good, Under Siege is the best part, a concert from the Arise tour, maybe another song from Schizo would have been nice but other than that:thumb:, the second Video is a collection of thier videos up until Chaos AD, which has 3 decent clips (Dead Embryonic Cells, Arise, Inner Self) and the rest are from Chaos AD and the next one is the three Roots videos and has the band explaing stuff about them.
It's worth it for the Under Siege video alone, even if that part is a little short.

I don't think it was anybody in the titans, so we can probably expect a pretty cruddy overview.
Actually, I think dibbing far in advance is out. I can also yell at FF over soulseek and he will (maybe) let you do it.
Oh, wait, I just read the Tech-Death thread again, and I think I caused some confusion. When I said "it's already been taken", I was just talking about the next FG spot, not the spot for thrash. As far as I know, it is still open.

I can see where you're coming from. The drumming kinda turned me off of PtK when I first heard it. Then, I tried listening to the whole album in correct order with no pauses. I think if you focus more and more on the guitar work, the drumming will become tolerable (as it did for me).

Well, Pleasure to Kill is a good album. However, even though the drums are pretty sloppy, the real negative aspect is how much the snare just stands out. He's just beating the living shi.t out of it. :D

At first, I didn't like it either. There were too many meatbeats from the snare. You know, "THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK".
But then later I got used to them, and now I don't mind them at all.

I also have a confession to make:
I honestly think Mille's leads aren't the greatest on PtK, whereas everytime I hear it I think of Kerry King, but actually better than Kerry's solos. However, listening to some of the work Frank and Sami have done, I think Mille has some great rhythm work and some good vocals (PtK vocals are awesome).
Nonetheless, PtK is brutal, extreme and I need to get my *** on finishing the iTunes download because I have enough for the ones I haven't gotten.

ANTHRAX have confirmed a one-off show at the House of Blues in Chicago, Illinois on April 30 with the classic "Among the Living" lineup, featuring singer Joey Belladonna, guitarists Scott Ian and Dan Spitz, drummer Charlie Benante and bassist Frank Bello. This will be the only U.S. show the band will do prior to their European summer festival run. House of Blues Internet presale starts Wednesday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. and ends Thursday, March 10 at 10:00 p.m. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 11 at 10:00 a.m.
As previously reported, ANTHRAX's "Among the Living" lineup has been confirmed for the following European festivals during May-July:
May 07 – Hellendoorn, NETH @ Dynamo Open Air
Jun. 09-11 – Sölvesborg, SWE @ Sweden Rock
Jun. 11-12 – Bologna, ITA @ Gods of Metal
Jun. 24-26 – Le Mans, FRA @ Fury Fest
Jun. 24-16 – Tolmin, SLO @ Metal Camp
Jul. 1-3 - Löbnitz (near Leipzig), GER @ With Full Force
ANTHRAX's "Among the Living" lineup is said to be planning a series of North American dates this summer, including an appearance at the 10th anniversary edition of Ozzfest. Sharon Osbourne is believed to have promised ANTHRAX a slot at this year's Ozzfest but only on the condition that they perform with the classic lineup that was responsible for some of the band's most successful albums.
