I'm sure this has been done a million times but, what are your favorite ten thrash metal songs. Mine would probably be:
Megadeth-Black Friday
Overkill-Deny the Cross
Destruction-Total Desastator 2000
Kreator-Pleasure to Kill
Slayer-At Dawn they Sleep
Death Angel-Mistress of Pain
Dark Angel-Darkness Descends
Forbidden-R.I.P.
Exodus-And then there were none
Coroner-Sudden Fall

Yeh, well I know they're both very good (they're the only two 'kill albums I don't have), but I'm only going for one for now, cause in a couple days here I'm gonna order quite a few albums
-Overkill (Feel the Fire, or Taking Over)
-Children of Bodom (Hatebreeder)
-Death Angel (Frolic Through the Park)
-Necrophagist (Epitaph)
-Dissection (Somberlain)
-Dew Scented (Ill natured/Innocence)
There's the list I'm oredering, and for the top 10 Thrash favorite songs, I'd say:
Overkill - Shred
Overkill - Elimination
Overkill - Wrecking Crew
Overkill - Thanx For Nothing
Megadeth - 502
Megadeth - Liar
Megadeth - Tornado of Souls
Exodus - Fabulous Disaster
Sepultura - Stronger Than Hate
Sepultura - Arise
In no order, and they change quite often too, those are just the ones I'm really enjoying right now

try to get hold of Doomsday for the Deciever or No Place for Disgrace if you can. Some of the more recent stuff is ok, but not as much as those 2.
My top 10 thrash songs at the moment are:
Whiplash - Warmonger
Kreator - Command of the blade
Devastation - Freewill
Overkill - Overkill
Sadus - Kill Team
Tankard - Chemical Invasion
Sodom - Persecution Mania
Laaz Rockit - Fire in the Hole

Top Ten Thrash Songs (for me) as of right now, in no order:
1. Dark Angel - The Burning of Sodom
2. Overkill - Time To Kill
3. Sodom - Sodomy & Lust
4. Heathen - Goblin's Blade
5. Razor - Enforcer
6. Razor - Road Gunner
7. Torture Squad - World of Misery
8. Annihilator - Human Insecticide
9. Destruction - Bestial Invasion

Guess who has the new Overkill? Me. It's got about 4 good songs, the rest are full of non-catchy groove. The song "Old School" is VERY punk influenced, but I can't help but love it.
"Here's to the old school, didn't matter if you looked cool. We drank some beers and broke some heads, we never gave a ****. We climbed every mountain, stormed every city, they said that this would never last, we never gave a ****!"

Oh, I was being serious about the title of that new Slayer album, Songs of Harmony and Devotion, I was hoping it would have a more blasphemous title but as long as it's good thrash and not that drop D garbage I'm listening to now :naughty: I'll overlook the title.

South of Heaven features Slayer's best written songs IMO. Some of it is alot slower than the Show No Mercy - Reign In Blood era, but there are a few fast songs on there. Definately worth a purchase.

That Album/EP is so raw, the vocals are more death than thrash but I think that's due to Max's undeveloped vocals. Aswell, the guitars on Morbid Visions are out of tune. Obviously you can hear them but it's also backed up by Maxs' own admission in the book somehwere  Anyway, enjoy :thumb:

Yes it does, but TNO has it's good moments too
I got Reign of Terror (Live 1987) on the rare EP titled Live In Eidenhoven (sp?). I don't remember how it's spelled, but it's somewhere in Europe. It sounds ****ty...but eh...1987 didn't have high tech recording quality.
I also got ahold of Darkness Descends and Agent Orange off of SoulSeek. I have to say...Darkness Descends kicks my *** over and over. Agent Orange is really good. In fact, I got bored yesterday and wrote the first 2 sections of lyrics to Remember The Fallen on my jacket, along with Masked Jackal's first verse and chorus. Don't ask me why...I just decided it would be nice to show people how the music and listen to and my opinions on issues relate, which is what I did.
Alright, so I officially hate to say this, but I'm becoming more interested in music quality, but still crave the extreme and brutal feeling of thrash. In other words, I think Pleasure to Kill was both of that, but I still say I personally like Frank's touch on Coma of Souls a lot. Either way, thrash is thrash. Some of it is heavy, some of it is technical, some of it is more complex and difficultly structured. Either way, I personally do my best to accept all thrash albums, even if no one here gets what I'm saying XD
I guess that means I'm not tr00

The clip, which was shot on September 30, 2002 at the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, California (with KREATOR and DESTRUCTION as the headliners), is about four minutes long and features the band — guitarists Jim Durkin and Eric Meyer, vocalist Ron Rinehart, drummer Al "Mayhem" Mendez and bassist Jeremy Peto (ex-MORGION) — performing "The Burning of Sodom", the second song off DARK ANGEL's classic second album "Darkness Descends". OK a group of people play songs from a MEgadeth album (MD is just an example anyband is good by me as long as its thrash). Then you can post it on sound click or wherever you host music. Then i will mix it through audacity or other software. Then we have an album. This is just for fun ofcourse.

I see. Timing is probably going to be a major issue here, if you can't actually jam with the people you're going to be covering with. After all you guys aren't metronome steady. So you better expect the album to sound raw, and by raw I mean sloppy, as all ****.

well what i do when i record is use the exact album time(exact second on which instrument lands). I think we should do cryptic writings. Dargon you want to help. Dargon please?
Cryptic Writings isn't thrash, so your outcome for the cover album will already be bad according to your pre-set plans.
When you decide to cover a Dark ****ing Angel album, post something in here because I can help with that. I'm the session guitarist for the only thrash band in my town, and those guys love to do the occasional DFA cover song.

If you want something thats raw and sloppy on purpose, try early Sodom and Kreator - Endlass Pain (well, not really sloppy, just raw).
CW isnt thrash, so i suggest you check out more thrash albums first

Can someone recommend me some fast, thick, crunchy, and dark thrash? I've been stuck lately, as it seems Death Metal is easier to find than thrash nowadays. Anyways, stuff like Sodom, Kreator, or maybe a more riff-based Slayer would do well.
Also, I got some Sadus albums, and they're really good. Steve Digiorgio on bass is 'kin awesome too.

Well, assuming you know Dark Angel and Kreator, the kings of fast, thick, crunchy, and dark thrash, you must check out:
Devastation - Idolatry
Vio-lence - Eternal Nightmare
Holy Moses - Finished With the Dogs
Andralls - Massacre, Corruption, Destruction (is the only one I have)
Exhorder - Slaughter in the Vatican
Incubus - Serpent Tempation
Mutilator - Immortal Force
Protector - Golem
Razor - Violent Restitution
Torture Squad - Pandemonium
Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
and of course DEMOLITION ****ING HAMMER - EPIDEMIC OF VIOLENCE! \m/
Sorry if that's a bit overkill, it felt good to get it all out :)
Oh, and don't forget Ripping Corpse - Dreaming with the Dead.
And yeah, Sadus officially own everyone's souls.
Bassaholica, try your hardest to find Revenant - Prophecies of a Dying World. You'll like it. :thumb:

You'll like it.
Also, for my list, I was trying desperately to stick to classic thrash albums, but with your inclusion of Sodom and Kreator in your "sound alikes" list, I have to recommend these recent albums:
Desaster - Tyrants of the Netherworld
Sauron - Thrash Assault
Hypnosia - Extreme Hatred
Aura Noir - Black Thrash Attack
And, I assume you've heard Sepultura, but if not, Schizophrenia and Beneath the Remains are essential. :thumb:

It's definitely on the Reign' tour because that's Whiplash's drummer *Forgets name, Tony *, well I certainly know it's not Lombardo anyway. Don't know why but it just seems weird seeing Jeff with a BC Rich, I know he used a Bich on Hell Awaits, RiB and SoH but it's just weird
