Early ND is grind, and they were not the first to use blastbeats. Anyone listen to Cryptic Slaughter?

I've got one song, are any albums worth buying? I know ND count them as an influence and that they used blasts

New singer announcement

I'd like to take this moment to welcome to our ranks Rob Dukes as our new vocalist. He has been absolutely crushing in practice and only gets stronger every day. I know some of you will want details, i.e. what bands has he been in, ect., but I'll have to get back to you on that one. I've heard some of his old demo stuff, but he is a virtual unknown. But he is going to blow peoples minds. He does incredible justice to both Paul and Zetro's material but when you hear the new **** you won't believe your ears. Totally crushing! To all who sent in their demos and such I'd like to thank each and every one of you for taking the time. But now our search is over. Rob just happened to end up my guitar tech for the Megadeth tour after things didn't work out with my first tech. Rob was refered to me by a friend at the Hollwood show and the rest is history. Divine intervention if you will! We will be recording some demos of a few new songs next week and if everything stays on track we will be in the studio recording the next album in April.

Testament = One of my all time favorite thrash bands.

Key albums : The Legacy, The New Order (Flame me! :p ), Low, The Gathering, Live from The Fillmore.

So what if most of their other stuff isn't the best? At least it's better thanw what's coming out of America's metal scene today...well if you want to think of it that way. I'm very laid back on music since I listen to a lot of other stuff too when I need to change the mood of music.

Argh...anyone have any band recommendations for thrash? I'm stuck on what to get next, whereas I do know about the key underground bands of the thrash era, but I'd like to know about the ones today.

I didn't mention bands that have beened mentioned here before (Morbid Saint, Exumer, Onslaught etc) otherwise the list would be too long.

Just found this on a Sadus fansite

It is now official that a SADUS dvd is in the works, to come along with the new album, which will feature massive artwork and extra goodies. The band is scheduled to play some festival in Seattle and in Minneapolis - more on that soon. Hopefully everything will happen in the first half of 2005 - but knowing them and their biblical times, I expect the new stuff to hit the stores within late summer.

Found the Sadus DTP demo the other day, which i'm going to buy :)

So the Minneapolis Metal Fest or whatever the hell it's called is looking good so far this year.
Sodom, Sadus and Summon are confirmed so far. I'd like to go, but I can't afford to go to that and Maryland... and well, there's no way it will match Maryland.

I was wondering, what are the best Celtic Frost Albums. Because from the stuff i've heard, I don't really like them too much. I mean, their rhythms seem to be very generic, and their solos seem to be complete wank. They seem to be pure "1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3" fingerings.

But for some reason, I'm thinking that I just haven't given them a fair listen.

I checked out those lyrics, but I'm gonna have to reveal that I have never seen Bambi, when all the other kids were watching stuff like that I'd be watching stuff like Predator and Terminator
Anyways, those lyrics looked pretty good, I got the idea it was more about how fairy tales etc. inject false images into kids minds and how it kinda softens them up, but towards the end it sounded like it was totally about Bambi, going on what I heard about that film, hunters shoot Bambi or the mother, not sure  Both I hope :naughty:

Sodom - Mortal Way of Live

Any of you guys order from Centurymedia.com? If so, reliable? fast delivery? The prices for most cds are good there, fairly cheap - so I'm interested.
Also, those who buy (metal) t-shirts, where do you buy them? Any good online shops besides eBay?

I can't order from Century Media because they don't allow Canadian Currency :upset:

Hah, no no no. I ordered that from Razorback Records, and it didn't take long at all. I was just being impatient because I really really really really really x 32 wanted the stuff.

Absolute worst place I've ordered from... http://www.metaldisc.com
Sure, they have a lot to choose from, but they're fairly expensive, and they took 3 months. THREE MONTHS! Plus I had to pay the extra shipping when it came over the border to Canada. Another $15. So don't ever order from them if you live outside America... actually, just don't order from them at all.

I ordered it from cdzone.co.uk, I think it's one of those french made copies but it's still on order apparently, since 9th January so I'm not holding my breath *exhales*.

Someone asked about metal t-shirts, I get mine from a load of places, but mainly Another World or Forbidden planet as it's now called they have ok selection, better online though and suprisingly enough you can still get Beneath the Remains and Schizophrenia t-shirts, that's defintely off the net though from another site.

It seems defiance are recording a new album :O

From defiance site: Happy New Year Everyone! We wanted to let you know what we have been doing and what we are planning on for 2005. Last year we were talking with each other about possibly doing a reunion show. Since then Matt has moved to New York and landed a gig in a touring company that will be crossing North America over the next year performing the Broadway musical 'Wicked'. Steev spent a couple of months touring with Exodus. After returning home, Steev has been playing and recording with both RE:Ignition and Skinlab. It has become apparent to us that with these two being so busy with other projects, the idea of a reunion show would be pretty hard to pull off. We have all talked about it and decided the best thing we could do moving forward would be to move away from the idea of a reunion show and work instead on writing some new material and head into the studio later this year. Starting now, we will start putting together a few songs in the Defiance vein and hopefully head into the studio this summer while Matt is in town, and lay down a few new songs. We are all pretty stoked about the idea of getting back together to work on this project after all these years!

We have also re-launched our website www.defiance1.com with an all new look and feel to start our new project in this new year. Many, Many thanks to Tony Williams of "444 Design" for all his help and work to get the new website designed and launched!

Stay tuned to this site for more news and updates regarding our progress on this new heavy metal music mission.
Cheers!
The Band.

Let me throw in my 2c on Megadeth because they're about my favourtie band. I also like Rage (thrash?), Anthrax, Metal Church and Slayer off the top of my head. I'm listening to Ulver right now.

IMO, the System Has Failed is one of the band's strongest albums, just edged out by Rust In Peace. The first six songs on that album almost make it that the rest could be tripe. I also enjoy Peace Sells and Youthanasia - the rest is significantly weaker than those four albums, but still better than most metal.

Personally I like all Megadeth albums barring Risk and The World Needs a Hero. Youthanasia is high up in my list. It may not be Thrash, but it's still good Metal if you ask me. Countdown for me is one of their weakest albums, as nothing aside from Ashes In Your Mouth and the title track stand out for me.

Cryptic Writings get's to much flack. There's many excellent songs on that album. Risk is just terrible, there's no denying that.

Personally, I don't care for anything past CTE. Those albums just don't work for me, they all sound like a bunch of 40-year olds trying to be heavier than they really are.

Ironically, now that Dave actually is 40, he releases a good album. Sure, TSHF is nowhere close to as good as the old thrash albums were/are, but its defenitely a step in the right direction.

Now, if we only could convince Anthrax to start playing old-school thrash as well... :)
