Yeah, they were....Hoglan joined in the 1990's sometime and Testament became Dog Faced Gods, mainly due to their change in sound. Anyway, they changed it back just before the album was released.

Yeah um...no they didn't. It was Legacy then Testament. No Dog Faced Gods.

"Hey, there you go! Hey, but Testament broke up. When I joined Testament, they were not Testament. They decided to call themselves Testament. That "Demonic" album was originally going to be called Dog Faced Gods. That's what I joined that project under the name of. Then, all of a sudden at the last minute, it was like, "Let's call it Testament".

Taken from an Interview with Gene Hoglan. Maybe not Testament changing their name, but you get my point.

I though Practice What You Preach and Souls of Black were great thrash albums, they just toned down the thrashiness of the guitart tone and the production was way too polished and not raw enough, I also really like The Ritual even though its not really thrash at all

Just picked up - Horrorscope - Overkill........thrash on

I tend to like the whole Practice What You Preach album. It was the first testament I had heard and was exactly what I was expecting them to sound like. Good straight ahead thrash. It's no Rust in Peace, but then what is?

Alice in Hell is one of the best thrash albums ever. I love WTYD, Ligiea and Word Salad. They vocals suck, but thankfully there's loads of instrumentals. Another album definately worth a look.

Wow, I've ****in had it with Overkill.

Ok, so I've been trying to download them for a while (WinMX doesnt have much Overkill)... so I'm listening to "Elimination".. starts out alright, generic thrash riffing, but it has potential.... then bam, I turn it the **** off. Why? Blitz's voice comes on, and just blasts any idea of Overkill being a good band out of my mind. Seriously, does he sing like this on everything? If there is anything where he does not sound like an annoying, high-pitched little bitch, tell me.. I want to hear what you guys are talking about >_<.

Do you guys remember the fill-in vocalist for Exodus for the recent Megadeth tour? He's currently in Skinlab, but he also did vocal duties for Defiance.

I guess it's just cuz you don't take a liking to that style of vox. Overkill is easily one of my fav's, because I'm not annoyed by Blitz' vocals. He does change his style a tiny bit on the newer albums, just to a bit deeper of a voice, but he still does the occasional scream, which I enjoy :) , and obviously you don't. So there's nothing really else for me to say to you about Overkill, just that there's more to them than Blitz, a lot more.

SODOM: Early Album Picture Disc Reissues Due This Month - Jan. 14, 2005
At the end of January, the first two SODOM picture discs in a series of five will be released on the GMR/Vinyl Maniacs label. The "Agent Orange" and "In the Sign of Evil" discs are limited to 1,000 copies each.

As previously reported, SODOM has been confirmed to perform at next year's Minneapolis Mayhem 2 festival, set to take place on May 7, 2005. This will be SODOM's only North American performance. Also scheduled to appear at the festival are long-running San Francisco Bay Area metallers SADUS and Las Vegas, NV thrashers AVENGER OF BLOOD. More bands will be announced soon.

SODOM are tentatively scheduled to release their first DVD in March. According to SODOM frontman Thomas "Angelripper" Such, the DVD's concert footage will will contain 23 songs. An overview of the band's career thus far and additional bonus features will also appear on the disc. "Such a giant DVD we make only once in a lifetime, so I don't want to make compromises in quality and completeness," Angelripper had previously said. "But you'll not be disappointed, the DVD will be the absolute hammer, I promise!"

SODOM are expected to enter the studio in the coming months to begin recording their new album, tentatively due in August.

I'm going to get the Sodom DVD when I can, and for the discs...are they CDs or Vinyl Records...if they're CDs, I'm going to save up my money to buy the set. I'm not going to let that opportunity pass me up.

Anywho, I just got Enemy of God today...sadly, I didn't get a bonus DVD x_x.

It's like trying to find a gold ticket...it's a 50/50 chance.

Anyways, I had a gift card plus Tower doesn't have the great of stuff sometimes. I have to say, even for it being a bit melodic, it's a lot better than Violent Revolution.

Because it relies a lot on heavy grooves rather than a riff assualt.

picked up two cds today:

Tempo Of The ****ed - Exodus
Schizophrenia - Sepultura

Enjoy, Tempo of the Damned is an excellent thrash album, I personally think Scar Spangled Banner is the highlight on there.
And well, Schizophrenia is arguably one of the greatest thrash records around IMO. Hard to say what the best track on there is, I get torn between Escape to the Void, Rest in Pain and the remastered Troops of Doom.

Metal Militia: Slaughter are decent, theres some really **** songs that I sampled then there were some top notch thrash songs, mainly from 'Not yet Dead'.

Oh yeah, I went to a local gig last night to see my friends band play, they were OK. From what I can remember the setlist consisted of a lot of their own stuff, which is sort of thrashy then they threw in a medley of the Four Horsemen and Seek & Destroy, Seasons in the Abyss, the intro to Raining Blood, man did my eyes light up :D I wish they'd just once play something like Angel of Death but then again it was in a pub and I think there were some little kids around, so no bad idea :upset:

Eh, kinda hard choice. Fabulous Disaster is solid, but it's got a bit of whiffle thrash in it. TOTD is also solid, but there is some filler in it. I'd say grab FD first.

Also, if you can find it, get the 1986 Pleasures of the Flesh demo. It has three tracks from POTF on it, with Paul Baloff on vocals. Last recording with him before he left the band, and I highly recommend it.

Number of the Beast is a good album, containing the Greatest Heavy Fu.cking Metal Song Ever Written, (HBtN) but it is not thrash so you can't use it.

The reason M.O.D. sounded similar is because that was Billy Milano's band after S.O.D.

Well there is some trivia I have learned from today

Great band, despite the lack of solos. I don't listen to them half as much as I used to but this may just have rekindled my need for some SOD.
Oh, didn't they release an EP called Seasons of the Obese? I thought I saw something like that, but then again I could have just been pissed up :naughty:

Well it's been several days since the european release of Enemy of God and still no show

Right. I would still recommend at least a download.

S.O.D are classic. What's with the drumming in Milk, is it snare rolls or actual fast blastbeats?

I'm thinking of doing another review, either Revenant's "Prophecies of a Dying World" or Torture Squad's "Pandemonium".

Alright, here's the link to my review of Revenant's "Prophecies Of A Dying World"

http://www.musicianforums.com/sputnik/album.php?reviewid=1687&genreid=12

Instead of doing the track by track review, I went with a pros and cons approach because I feel I can review the actual music better.

Enjoy.
