why do we care? Metallica's first 2 albums are the only things worth getting.
Creeping Death doh. I like Reload.

Their debut was said to be really good, as their last album was too "No Place for Disgrace".
I heard the title track on HardAttack (Sirius Satellite Radio Channel), and it sounded pretty thrashy to me.
Check into Doomsday for The Deceiver and No Place for Disgrace. I'll let the others post their comments and thoughts.

Yes to both DFTD and NPFD, other stuff is crap, but definitely get the first two for melodic/epic thrash.
And I think you, Ravenous, posted about Shadows Fall a few pages ago. Crushing Belial is pretty decent, but the rest of the songs I have heard are crap metalcore crap. So you will want to be continuing avoiding them :p

That wasn't me. It was FaceInTheSky.
It's ok though. I've given up all hope in Shadows Fall after their new album. The Art of Balance was cool, but when I heard the War Within, I just...cried XD
I cried how such a band with the potential to bring back a thrash sound went generic and how millions of my friends into metal have gone and worshiped them after it...
I started a thrash thread on my other forum, and so far, some other guy there who is into the new **** has respect for the old, but wants us all to listen to the newer stuff...I saidly say no...for I know what it's like.
Anyways, I was listening to The Legacy today, and I love the sound of it...I still prefer TNO at times, but The Legacy is a classic.

Half of "The New Order" can be pretty much thrown away, But "Into The Pit" and "The Preacher" make that album IMO. I still think The Legacy is their best work.
Aside from Testament, I picked up Quo Vadis' "Passage In Time" album, and I must say that it kicks ***. Not entirely thrashy, but there are some wicked awesome thrash breaks in that album.

Happy New Year to those who have rung it in already. I have about 2 hours and 42 minutes left, but I doubt I'll stay up since I didn't have a great time with my g/f (mother was bitching at her towards the end of the night, and she felt something was wrong, and there was, but not between us).
I hope 2005 brings forth a great year of new thrash material. I myself have been working on some different combination of riffage:
Taking a bit of a Morbid Angel style with some Coroner stylings, mixing it up with some extreme stylings of Kreator, Sepultura, Testament (The Legacy style), and some Destruction at times.
It sounds sort of weird, but I think if I spent a little more time working the riffs out, I could get them to sound different.

Trust me...I know of this story where my dad got drunk so bad, that he insisited on driving my mom and my brother home. So he does so, and nearly misses hitting 5 different objects while backing out of a drive way, just trying to drive home XD
So he finally gets home, but to my mom and brother's suprise, HE REAR ENDS THE BACK OF THE STATION WAGON STRAIGHT INTO THIS LITTLE BRICK WALL!
He then is yelling at them when my mom tells him that it's not alright...
The next morning, he wakes up with a hangover...
Then he realizes "HOLY CRAP THE CAR!" when he realizes he's home...
Sees the damage... :eep:!
Yells at my mom "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO THE CAR"
My mom says "I didn't do it that"
He says "Well who did?!?!?"
She simply replies "You did"
"I did?" <- the look on my dad's face... XD
Goes to show, never drink and drive...and if you make it home alive, well...be suprised...very suprised to see what happened XD
EDIT: Happy New Year, my fellow thrashers! Lets hope Enemy of God, Sodom's new release and DVD, and Destruction's release are grand.

The discs will feature additional bonus tracks not found on the original albums, while a third CD within the set will compile a wealth of previously unreleased live and demo cuts. P.s. Happy New Year.
I got it from Amazon, third party from this German record store for about £10. I also saw it in my local HMV the other day which completely shocked me. It was more than £10 though :upset:

Yeah. Happy new years all. I went to a local show with a few local bands. Was average for local metal gigs around here. Then headed to a girl friends b'day. Was fair ****ing awesome as there were 5 or so other metal heads there - I can't remember when metallica was as fun as it was. Oh yeah, and Elimination is the best party song EVER! Pretty much 6 straight hours of head banging. Downed half a case and was feeling fine since bed at about 10 pm new years day. This proves that the best hang over remedy is not to goto sleep at all. :D... although, it doesnt improve the neck was slightly aching... Hope everyone else enjoyed their celebrations and that metal was included in some small part.
Anyway... Me and a mate decided to form a thrash band. \m/. Watch out ****ers, a year or two from now, we will be raging all around the world!.. or something....

yeh ive heard of cdzone there pretty big but ive not ordered anything off them i think. Amazon make it easy just find the album you want and if you want to buy off amazon themselves click add to basket straight away if you wana but off the used and new section go to it and find the company you would like to order from, simple. I only order of reputable companies and i never buy used stuff off the net they will charge a few penny for p&p as well if you decide to buy/

Right now I'm in two bands
My main one is a very unique style, as we combined alternative funk (primus style) with death metal elements
And my other band I've started is a Power metal band w/ harsh vocals (not like CoB though, more death vocal sounds)

I am gonna get Kreator's new DVD when it comes out man.. I'm not letting that one pass me up whatsoever.
So whats goin on people? It's been a while since I've been here man... lately, I've been listening to a lot of Megadeth, Kreator, and Opeth. Me and a couple friends are finally getting a sort of band together, but we still need a drummer to complete it. Anyway, as for our sound, imagine Opeth-style octave harmony riffs mixed with some technical Megadeth-style riffing with a dark thrash voice, similar to that of Sodom, Coroner and Kreators. I tend to write a lot of melodic black metal style riffs, like Myrrdraal and Berserk, with some dark symphony stuff like early Cradle. Anyway, the second we press a demo, I will have files on here for you guys to listen to. Thrash on, brothers (and sister) \m/

Yes, it's the new and used system, I was a little cautious to begin with aswell, but I must have bought over 30 albums using the system and I've only had minor problems like late delivery. There are certain third party sellers I try and avoid if possible but obviously a good indication of the quality of seller is the feedback. Saying that though Amazon themselves have recently ****ed me around. I ordered a Destruction album about a month and half ago and still no show :upset:
Edit: and try to avoid buying second hand too, unless of course it's a discontinued albums like, thinking..., Eternal Nightmare- Vio-lence, don't know the exact details, I just know there isn't any or many new copies left.

O here come the Ultimate List dude:
-rotten to the core
-hammerhead
-overkill
-deny the cross
-wrecking crew
-powersurge
-in union we stand
-shred
-hello from the gutter
-time to kill
-elimination
-i hate
-nothing to die for
-birth of tension
-evil never dies
-coma
-infectious
-thanx for nothin
-new machine
-spirtual void
-where it hurts
-fast junkie
-they eat their young
-gasoline dream
-battle
-god like
-let me shut that for you
-feedinf frenzy (instrumental)
-cold, hard fact
-it lives
-long time dyin'
-necroshine
-let us prey
-revelation
-forked tongue kiss
-thunderhead
-bleed me
-what i'm missin'
-let it burn
-my name is pain
-devil by the tail
-****ed
-crystal clear
-sound of dyin'
-until i die
So there it is dude......every song off that list is amazing, and yes Bobby's voice can get annoying at times, but once you get to like Overkill as much as I do, you'll enjoy it
P.S the gap between the songs seperates the more thrashier Overkill from the newer Overkill, but both era's are great!!

Haha. Good on ya man. Try something from their first two albums. Blitz' voice was more well rounded i guess back then, before he got complete bon scott-ish on us. Feel the fire is my favourite song on their first album. Give that a shot. I mean, if you hate his vocals, you hate his vocals... But when you hate vocals of awesome bands, look past them and listen to the riffs. ;)

I am a noob, how do you join clans? Also, would you consider The Crown thrash, they are Thrash/Death. If so, I think I will chose HIH.

First and foremost, you must have listened to Dark Angel's "Darkness Descends" album.
The Crown...I can't remember if I liked them or not...
Sorry for the double post...
I just got a couple of albums, demos, and assorted tracks (cd-r) in a trade, and they are currently available to d/l from me off of Soulseek. This stuff OWNS. HARD.

That's a problem, why?
Well, I'm still in school. And it's hard for me to find a ride BACK from the show, unless I'm going with someone who can either give me a ride, or take the bus with me. It's not like a real major problem, but it's that my friends (who provide the ride) usually don't go to concerts on weekdays.
This means that I must learn the bus schedule for buses after 12am. Aye.

I prefer Darkness Descends becuase Doty's vocals are better than Rinehart's, but Leave Scars is still good.

Not blasphemy, I feel DFA concentrated on their songwriting more on that album.

It was remastered. The production isn't that bad on the original either, nice and raw to complement the brutal skullfvck that is the music of that album.

I know I have to wait only a few more days, but it feels like eternity. I hope they don't push the release to a later date like how Slayer did with Still Reigning...it felt like it was going to take forever for them to release it.

Right now, Incubus - Serpent Temptation is completely, totally, blowing my mind. You guys need to get it NOW if you don't have it.
another edit: I just looked at the lyrics on Metal-Archives, they are severe christian crap! One of the lines is actually "Follow God and you will be saved." Oh well, doesn't prevent them from being one of the most extreme thrash bands I've ever heard :chug:
Also, you can download this band's demo at their site:

Aren't Incubus a NWOBHM band? I stumbled across them searching for Brandon Boyd's Incubus while putting my CD collection on to rateyourmusic.com. Or is it Opprobruim [Incubus]?
Ah, too many bands called Incubus.
Edit: never mind, I checked and it's Opprobrium [Incubus]. http://rateyourmusic.com/view_album_details/album_id_is_107310 What's the deal? Did they have to change their name when the other Incubus became famous, or something?

Ron Rinehart sounds strangely like Don Doty, only less harsh of a voice. You'd like TDNH. :thumb:
I still love Darkness Descends though, and I can't wait for Darkness Returns and that DVD they were going to release.

the carnage is morbid and great
mephitic deathstench of corpses abounds
