Which Sodom albums did you get Face? I finally got their whole catalog a few months back.

Oh by the way, Soulseek is the ****. :thumb:

NP: Sabbat - The Clerical Conspiracy

I got In the Sign of Evil/Obsessed By Cuelty one disc and I got Persecution Mania,

In the Sign of Evil - Is really simple Black metal, kinda boring but fun to act like a dork and thrash to anyway

Obsessed By Cruelty - Mediocre thrash, could use more than 3 riffs a song

Persecution Mania - HOLY ****, THIS ONE RIPS ***, This was a good buy

Im somewhat confused though, because at the end of the In the Sign of Evil/Obsessed By Cuelty there is three extra tracks not listed on the case and My computer dosent read the last three tracks names while it reads all the other tracks names, does anyone know the names of the three tracks at the end?

I've heard of them, I think manu found them a long time ago when undergoing one of his "general scouting" missions. I hever checked them out though. Apparently they were formed in '78, which makes them one of the first thrash bands ever.

Or the first, if they were thrash in '78.

What band is this?

General scouting owns.

Heard the new Death Angel today, it's good.

Whoa, I got Pandemonium. I thought it would be like pretty generic-type death metal, but I got a seriously smashed-in face. Easily the best death/thrash I've ever heard. They kill Sadus or Solstice. They caused me to commit an act of thrash (i.e. bang your head until something goes really wrong)

And Heathen are pretty cool too. I have some tracks off Breaking the Silence.

I just took the time to listen to most of Terrible Certainty, and I love it a whole lot. It's the kind of sound I want to acheive a bit.

However, when your stuck in a band who's other guitarist just plays only "lead" and no rhythm, and wants to you be rhythm while he is way out of control, you have nothing better to do that just to listen to him show off.

Drummer NICK MENZA Out Of MEGADETH, EIDOLON's SHAWN DROVER Steps In

Drummer Nick Menza has been replaced in the lineup for the upcoming MEGADETH tour, according to a posting on MEGADETH's web site. In his place will be Shawn Drover (EIDOLON). 'We look forward to the upcoming tour with Shawn and wish Nick best of luck in his next endeavor,' the posting adds. Shawn joins brother Glen (EIDOLON, ex-KING DIAMOND) on guitar and James MacDonough (ex-ICED EARTH) on bass, alongside mainman Dave Mustaine.

MEGADETH's 'Blackmail the Universe Tour' will kick off October 23 in Reno, NV. EXODUS will join the trek on October 25 in Anaheim, CA. Also appearing on the bill will be EARSHOT

In fact, a guy said to me the other week that he thought Lars was the best double bass drummer around, when i'd stopped laughing i put him out of his misery and informed him that he had only played double bass on a handful of songs, maybe less, i think in fact it was just one and if he ever did play double bass he certainly don't anymore.

He does it reasonably often. He just sucks at it. Here are songs that use it:

Battery
Damage Inc.
Fight Fire...
Dyers Eve
Ride the Lightning
One
Fade to Black
Leper Messiah
The Frayed Ends of Sanity

...off the top of my head, of course there's more. I don't know whether he did it on Metal Militia, or any song on KEA for that matter...

So far, Code Red's Track 3 and 13 are aggressive as it can get. I'm waiting till I get really hyper or tired so I can wake myself up to some heavy thrash.

They get less thrash as each album progresses. SBG isn't pure thrash, but it still has thrashness, like a lot of old school death metal.

Wow, i didn't think that many but like you say, he sucks at it and it's not as apparent, except in 'one', as other drummers e.g. Charlie Benante, Dave Lombardo.

Actually, the drummer best at using a double bass isn't even a thrash drummer. That crown belongs to Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater. I don't care what Dargon says, because Portnoy is the best, hands f*cking down.

I don't like Portnoy's playing much, the guys from Dragonforce and Morbid Angel are probably better, I'd say.

refl  Sacrifice has some dumb, unfounded hatred of death metal, so he doesn't know how fast the majority of death metal drummers on the the old twin kick.

Sandoval
Mounier
Corn
the Necrophagist guy
the Berzerker guy

Mithras's drummer is supposed to be immensely fast too.

Oh yeah, for Devastation, Idolatry is sounding really good, nice thick production. I also checked out their first album, however the production is really thin and the vocals are some of the worst I've ever heard. The guy doesn't even try to put in any intensity, he just talks. It's kinda sad and funny at the same time.

I would have probably guessed that a death metal drummer would be fastest although my knowledge of death metal is limited at best, that guy from deicide though, steve ashaim or something seems pretty fast. He might not be in the band anymore, i don't know cuz i've only got their first album.

about Jordison:

Step 1:
Go to www.blackmetalradio.com

Step 2:
Go to episode 65, song 14 or 15 (can't remember which)
The song will be "Corporal Jigsore Quandary" by The Berzerker.

Step 3:
Listen as the bass speed increases to somewhere around 1500 bpm.

Step 4:
Forget about Jordison. Forever.

For all of you who praise The Berserker's drummer, I just want to let you know that his set is heavily triggered, as he said so in an interview in Terrorizer magazine. Not that this takes away from the music, it's just I appreciate Flo and Pete's ability to do double-bass rolls that fast, with only their feet.

WHAT?!?!? Dude, the drummer from DragonForce plays like an ape. Take any thrash song, and compare it to Metropolis Part 1: The Miracle and The Sleeper's drum part, and Portnoy will always come out on top.

The Berzerker is like Petrucci, all he does is wank. He can play fast, doesn't make him great.

Mounier is the master of making drums fit perfectly, so he's got my vote for best drummer overall. The Dragonforce and Morbid Angel guys can double kick like ****, so they are the fastest in my book.,

Triggering does not make drumming faster, it's simply a different way of collecting the sound information made by the drums. Head to the drum forum for an explanation.

^i heard somewhere he can do 19 strokes with one hand in a second.... I dont really understand howe fast that is since Im not a drummer but its seems fast....

That is 1140 strokes per minute. In comparison, the average thrash song (Angel of Death for example) has 210 snare strokes per minute. :amaze:

I downloaded their albums a while back. I don't think it sounds too much like AJFT, though. It's just fun rockin thrash like Mortal Sin or sacred reich. Infact they sound almost identicle to Mortal Sin, i think. The vocals are only a slight varience for those of Mortal Sin, and the music even less so.

Definitely worth a listen though.

Onslaught were my favourite British thrash band before Thrashmaster suggested Sabbat. Top quality stuff really, although a little sloppy early on in their career.

As for some possessed, Slatanic, get anything by them. Pretty much all of it rocks, and sure as hell none of it sucks. Check out Blind Illusion's 'Sane Asylum'.. Larry Lalonde from possessed played for them and although he wasnt the main contributor, they sound similar to possessed. Frenetic thrash with progressive elements that don't take away from the thrash. :D

You really think so? I think The War At The Warfield setlist is pretty decent. Could have included more from Show No Mercy, but having Die By The Sword, Chemical Warfare, Captor of Sin and Hell Awaits on there makes it decent enough to start with.

Plus as I always say I'm not a massive man of RiB, which doesn't mean I don't like it as some people seem to think.

I've just watched Still Reigning and it's awesome. I didn't even have to buy it, I sent my mom on an errand, well actually she agreed to go get it after 5 hours at gun point
Anyway, it seemed a lot more punkish to me and contrary to what i read in another thread, you can actually hear toms bass. His vocals were **** good aswell. But a lot of the solos were out, mainly on kerrys part, he seemed to play the same solo again and again almost like he'd forgotten or more likely, he's just lost it whereas jeff was outstanding aside from a few errors. The one thing i loved about it is that you get to see them play all the other classics from the album which they rarely played live up until recently and probably when they toured the album. They also have other assorted songs aswell like war ensemble, south of heaven and to my delight necrophiliac which i've always wanted to see be played live.
In conclusion it's money well spent.
