Man, I am down in San Diego right now for the weekend, and I've been hitting up all the Guitar Centers. Anyway, at each one i go to i keep catching up with this guy who digs real metal.. and plays guitar. See, I come from a small desert town where people like this do not exist, but for me. Isn't is amazing to find out that there are thrash-head guitar players who dig Slayer, Coroner, Kreator, Dark Angel, etc... and exist in real life, not just on a musicians forum? Haha. Yeah. Well, I'm just happy to see that I am not alone on this planet.

I just downloaded Mechanix by Megadeth... It kicks the ****ing **** out of The Four Horsemen. I used to love that song, but Mechanix is amazing, it's so much faster, much more of a headbangable song! Yes, I am still gettin into Megadeth, but Megadeth already makes all Metallica look pretty bad. I would only rank 2 Metallica albums over the 3 Megadeth ones I have (Peace, SFSGSW, and TSHF) and those are of course MOP and AJFA, and RTL is pretty close, but Megadeth is right above it.

Isn't necrophiliac about satan entering a morgue and fvcking a virgins corpse then she bursts open in the casket and the son of satan is born. Thats about what i gather from the lyrics. It's an awesome song just like the rest of hell awaits  . And necrophobic is simply about the fear of dying and methods of death as written in the lyrics.

I like the musical aspect of it, but I'm hooked on the speed man! When I would write songs for my old band it would always fly from slow musical stuff into thrashy crazy riffs. That's why I love Seasons. Megadeth tends to do that a lot too, and a lot of Metallica's old stuff did. I like slower but heavy.

Top 10 Slayer Songs

3. Angel of Death
4. Dead Skin Mask
5. South of Heaven
6. Postmortem
7. War Ensemble
8. Chemical Warfare
9. Here Comes the Pain
10. Blood Red

Others:
Disciple, Blood Line, Skeletons of Society.

Has anyone noticed that War Ensemble and AOD sound very similair, especially the intro? Meh, maybe it's just me.
Same with Disciples of The Watch by Testament sounds similair to Die Dead Enough by Megadeth? Or again, it's just me?

Yeah, i love it.

Im listening to the bestial Devestation EP at them moment AND looking at some lyrics. They are totally different to what i grunt out when im singing. I think it was with cryptopsy... a few people wrote up how they interpreted a lyric, so i propose we do the same some, but not limited to, early thrash like Kreator and Sepultura. :D

Yeah, schizophrenia was such an improvement on morbid visions which although contained troops of doom was to be fair just 4 guys thrashing about trying to find their 'sound' but i think schizophrenia was where they achieved what they were looking for. I also liked the fact that they remastered troops of doom with andreas kisser. You say first four tracks so i cant ask you about inquisition symphony but what do you think of escape to the void?

I'm getting the whole thing tomorrow, so I'll post what I think of those two songs then. In the meantime, everyone download Razor - The Marshall Arts. Yep, it is in deed Mr Bendix-Perterson, aka King Diamond. :D. Most of their stuff I would label power metal, Melissa being the best of all, of course.

All those Sodom albums are ****ing classic, you'll love them. ;)

As for Sepultura, apart from "from the past comes the storms" (which is my favourite thrash song of all time,) i *think* Morbid visions and Bestial Devestation are beating Schizophrenia, atleast at the present time.

There's just something totally unique about both of them that they shed in favor of a more safe thrash sound. The guitar tone totally annihilates, one of the rawest this side of black metal, but not so raw as to be sand paper to ear drum.

Veteran San Francisco thrashers EXODUS will occupy the middle slot at six MEGADETH West Coast dates later this month. Opening the proceedings will be Christian hard rockers 12 STONES.

MEGADETH w/ EXODUS, 12 STONES:

Oct. 25 - Anaheim, CA @ The Grove
Oct. 26 - San Diego, CA @ 4th and B
Oct. 28 - San Francisco, CA @ Warfield
Oct. 29 - Los Angeles, CA @ Palladium
Oct. 30 - Phoenix, AZ @ Dodge Theatre
Oct. 31 - Tucson, AZ @ Casino Anselmo

As previously reported, EXODUS were forced to postpone their South American tour last month following the departure of singer Steve "Zetro" Souza. Handling the lead vocals for EXODUS during the MEGADETH trek and the rescheduled South American dates will be SKINLAB singer Steev Esquivel.

Just got Schizophrenia and Persecution Mania. Post my thoughts later.

EDIT: My god, I'm so glad I got thos instead of the Dying Fetus I was thinking of getting instead.

Sodom: Persecution Mania is pure out-and-out harsh, crazy, nazi thrash. It's even better than Agent Orange. For one thing, the vocals are better. And also it has an awesome cover (Iron Fist) instead of a lousy cover (Don't Walk Away.)

Sepul: Killer. I don't know if it's better than BtR (repeated listens will determine this) but holy crap. And on the strength of Storms and Inquisition Symphony, I'd say it is a little better.

It is EXCELLENT. I've always been a big metal church fan, i have all of their albums, bar Masterpeace, and truth to tell, Weight of the world doesn't dissapoint at all. Excellent Heavy ****ING Metal to be found right the way through. Vanderhoof still has it, and that special something that made wayne and Howe **** fine vocalists, well the new fella has it. His style is similar to the two before him but his actual voice is a little rougher. A very good replacement.

Yeah sound wise, it's just like hanging in the balance, not much of the frenetic almost-thrash stuff they had on the first two, but all the heaviness and melody that has made them such a great band.

Hehe, anyway, ill stop there before you fall asleep. Go and pick it up, it's definitely one of my top 3 albums of the year; if you like any of their previous albums, you'll like it too. ;)

Nup. Straight up metal, mostly. VERY punky in their early days, infact their first album was straight up punk, but they seemed to change very quickly to that typical motorhead sound. They did influence thrash, but i wouldn't call them a thrash band, eventhough they do have lots of thrash moments.

Slipknot/Slayer at London Hammersmith Apollo, here goes...

by the time we got to the venue, people were STILL queing, however it didnt take too long to get inside. So we head upstairs to get a drink before Slayer come on, only trouble is there 4 people serving about 134671 thirsty punters. So while we're still in the que the Slayer intro tape starts playing and we make a quick rush for the door. By the time the second song starts we're settled and i'm thrashing away, they played Hallowed Point which was a surprise. Tom's voice was on top form too, heres the setlist:

Disciple
War Ensemble
At Dawn They Sleep
Praise Of Death (i think it was)
Dead Skin Mask
Seasons In The Abyss

Yeah, maiorder ****ing sux. But I'm pretty much forced to use it, since there's not a single CD store around that sells anything more obscure than Metallica (and the occasional Pantera cs... Seriously folks, I **** you not. This is true).

I remember a few years back, I was buying the soundtrack to the South Park movie. I ordered it of the net, and the companies site said that they had it in stock, and delivery time was approx 3 days. Pffft, my *** it was! After three ****ing WEEKS, they sent me a letter saying that they didn't have the CD in stock, but that they would order one for me. Then, it took another three and a half weeks for them to let me know that they were completely out of stock, and wouldn't purchase any new ones from the label. ****ing cocksuckers! Eventually, they turned into such a putrid pile of **** that people stopped buying from them completely, and they were forced to declare bancrupcy. Serves 'em right, ****ers.

The reason mallcore kiddies like slayer is becuase it's a hell of a lot heavier than anything along the likes of Sh.itknot or Disturbed. So they think "Wow, this is heavy, I better listen to it so I can continue pretending to be metal!"

DisposableHeroes

possibly the biggest mistake making slipknot headline over slayer :upset: slayer just blow them away, no one wants to watch/listen to slipknot after slayer have just been on. Thats the exact same setlist as at Birmingham Gig.
they played Mandatory Suicide too

Just bought Shadows Fall - The War Within and borrowed Mastodon - Leviathan.

Firstly Shadows Fall = Not great but not terrible some tracks were alright but not quite brillaint, i belive this band has potential to make it big in a few years time

Secondly Mastodon = This album is great not your ordinary album its my first listen so far and im getting quite into it.

Slayer opening for slipknot, what's the world coming to?
A lot of that going around at the moment tho. I heard that machine head recently opened for chimaira. I like both equally but it's fair to say that the latter would not exist without the former and in any case you'd expect chimaira to open for machine head, but like i said it's a topsy-turvy world.

Why aint Slayer opening? They have more and better CDs out, a wider fan base, and have more talent and skill, and are experienced. All Slipknot has is a bunch of stupid masks.Slipknot should bow down to Slayer while being beaten to death with a warlock guitar.

Mallcore is quite possibly the greatest word ever invented.

:upset:

Dude, I just think mallcore is something that people who are really into metal come up with to slam good popular bands and people who like those bands to make them feel more badass than other people. No offense, or anything, because I know you are truly into metal, but it's just something that I can't stand. It's like those punk rockers bitching about Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, etc...(only those bands truly do suck).

I just hate it when I see someone slamming a band I like, like Shadows Fall, or even Soilwork, as "mallcore". Metal doesn't always have to be about one type of metal, Mastodon is as much of a metal band as Exodus. There's no need to slam good bands just because they're the hit band right now, or you saw them on MTV and got pissed off. If my band were suddenly to hit big, I sure as hell wouldn't want my band to get a bad reaction just because we're gaining new fans after our new album.

That's all. You've heard my rant. Sorry to make this about Shadows Fall and Mastodon and Soilwork.

(33rd official post of the week out of an attempted 3000)

LordDargon
10-12-2004, 02:15 PM
I don't think any of the bands you mentioned are mallcore. Mallcore is total bullsh.it, like Korn, Linkin Park, Trapt, stuff with no redeeming musical value whatsoever.

It's a valid term, if you use it correctly.

sensitiveorgan00
10-12-2004, 02:18 PM
Soilwork can be considered mallcore, at least their new stuff. Either way, Soilwork and Shadows Fall both blow my as.shole.
