SPV are planing a worldwide release of the album for January 2005, followed by an extensive world tour, including massive sound and lights + a killer stage design in the style of the new cover artwork, wich will be made by austrian artist Jochim Luetke, check some of his work here: www.luetke.com

Teribble Certainty by Kreator is a good one, but anyway the new album comes out on Jan. 1st, at least thats what Mille Petrozza said, and I would say Extreme Agressions is their best album

RavenousMetalist87

cool, i cant really imagine them using blastbeats. But Eric Peterson in corpse paint cracks me up

haha yeah I was like "o.o;" when i saw the pictures of him and DragonLord.

Their own style of mixing death with thrash wasn't the best combo, but Dog Faced Gods is a such a kickass song!

well I totally forgot that Testament is making a new album (Besides the new compolation Days of Darkness). I'm still going to get Days of Darkness because I don't want to get all of Demonic and The Gathering, plus I can't find Reign of Terror anywhere!

However, I am supposed to be getting 2 CDs from Amazon this week. Fabulous Disaster and Low are supposed to come together either on Tues., Wed. or Thurs. depending on UPS.

And my UPS station here ships early like at 10 in the morning too! x_X

Anyone know where I can learn more about the new album?

Wait I knew that Testament's original name was Legacy, and Steve Souza was the original vocalist from what I could remember. Also, I remember somewhere I read Chuck Billy was the original vocalist for Exodus, and Kirk was in Exodus too (useless piece of info). If you're refering to Paul Baloff, I know he died of a stroke back in 02.

Zetro...ugh now who could it be?!? x_x *does some research*

EDIT: I did some research, and Steve Souza was the original vocalist for Legacy (Legacy changed to Testament among the arrival of Alex Skolnick). Then apparently, Souza left the band to join Exodus. Paul was booted out of Exodus because of "getting along with the bandmates" wasn't working out.

I knew Steve Souza was the original vocalist, but the only reason why I don't know if Zetro is his nickname or something...

Too much deep throating...

Steve Souza or Zetro is still in exodus... Paul Baloff was the vocalist who died a few years back. I think it was on 22/2/2002, as Tempo Of The ****ed was relased on that day two years later as a memorial to him.

I dont think Chuck Billy ever sung for exodus. Baloff recorded a demo with Heathen, which is quite good.

Hmmm Metallica there twice is a bit dodgy, but what ya gonna do?

Interesting list though and I think it goes off more influencial albums rather than the best ones, that's why theres no Darkness Descends or Show No Mercy instead of Reign In Blood. I think Possessed did more for Death Metal than Thrash, but it's a still a great album and is Thrash. Pretty solid list and I welcome CFH in there, even if it may not be a typical 80's Thrash album.

JMetallica
08-18-2004, 02:31 AM
Yeah, it's pretty much 'most popular' thrash ablums list, although none of them are really bad at all, which is surprising, seeing as the list was in a popular magazine.

ThrashMaster.... I've been listening to the first two Sabbat albums lately, and ****, they rooool! Their style just owns it up, and ALL of their songs a packed full of loads of headbanging riffs, probably more than most other albums i have heard. ****, i can't believe i have put off listening to them all this time. Oh well, better late than never i guess, eh?

If somebody hasn't heard Sabbat before, get their first two albums any way you can... You won't be disapointed.

JMetallica
08-18-2004, 06:12 AM
Definately, I've listened to Acid Reign, Onslaught, Deathwish etc, they are all very good, but sabbat is truely great. Hehe, Mortal Sin are at the other end of the thrash spectrum, but yeah, just as shocking. Both were excellent bands, that seem to be in the same boat: from countries that didn't produce much thrash, first two albums were great, 3rd not so. Both have reformed and planning on releasing albums [i would assume].

Venom eh? Yeah, fun for the whole family, just like the two bands above.

JMetallica
08-18-2004, 06:14 AM
Oh yeah, and do you know who was the lyrics writer in Sabbat, TM?

ThrashMaster27
08-18-2004, 06:23 AM
Martin Walkyier was the main lyrics writer.

Speaking of lyrics, what's everyones favourite song for lyrics alone? I know Motorhead ain't exactly Thrash but I'd choose Orgasmatron as my fave lyrics.

I am the one, Orgasmatron, the outstretched grasping hand
My image is of agony, my servants rape the land
Obsequious and arrogant, clandestine and vain
Two thousand years of misery, of torture in my name
Hypocrisy made paramount, paranoia the law
My name is called religion, sadistic, sacred whore.

I twist the truth, I rule the world, my crown is called deceit
I am the emperor of lies, you grovel at my feet
I rob you and I slaughter you, your downfall is my gain
And still you play the sycophant and revel in you pain
And all my promises are lies, all my love is hate
I am the politician, and I decide your fate

I march before a martyred world, an army for the fight
I speak of great heroic days, of victory and might
I hold a banner drenched in blood, I urge you to be brave
I lead you to your destiny, I lead you to your grave
Your bones will build my palaces, your eyes will stud my crown
For I am Mars, the god of war, and I will cut you down.

Hey, I haven't posted in here in this thread in a long time. Well, anyways has anyone heard the song A Torch to End All Torches by Thrice. Im not a big fan of the band, but anyways you can hear a lot of thrash influence in it. Especially in the intro. It sounds kinda like mop era metallica imo. Nothing amazing but you might in enjoy the riff.

You won't be disapointed.

theres was a huge article about the history of thrash, it was a pretty good one...i think the list is pretty good i think kea should be in there because its the first thrash album and its ****ing good haha, but they had alot of people talking about thrash

favorite lyrics....probably hook in mouth by megadeth

Since you're a thrash nigg., you probably want to listen to Blind Guardian's older albums, such as Tales From teh Twilight Hall. Their older stuff is more speed/power compared to A Night at teh Opera, which is more of a power metal 'opera' thing.

SLAYER's Next Studio Album To Land On INTERSCOPE?

Rick Rubin's American Recordings label — home to veteran Los Angeles thrashers SLAYER — is making the move from Island Def Jam to the Interscope side, according to Hits Daily Double.

SLAYER had previously announced that they were putting the recording sessions for their new album on hold while Rubin began negotiating a new deal with Universal Music Group (Island Def Jam's parent company). Rubin has worked with SLAYER since he produced the band's 1986 thrash classic "Reign in Blood", and his status could greatly affect the level of support American gives any new album.

"The minute (Rubin) gets that situated we'll continue the process of finishing the music," SLAYER frontman Tom Araya told The News Tribune last month.

SLAYER's upcoming DVD, "Reign in Blood Live: Still Reigning", is scheduled for release on September 28. The disc will feature a full performance of the "Reign in Blood" album by all original members of the veteran thrash metal outfit. The DVD, recorded on July 11 in Augusta, Maine, will have an approximate 75-minute running time and will retail for $14.98.

Vio-lence DVD update (a few weeks old tho)
Production on the VIO-LENCE DVD is well underway and shaping up better than expected. Shooting is almost finished with just a few people left to interview. On this planned 2-disc DVD you'll see a ton of live footage spanning the band's entire existence as well as a full-length documentary on the history of the band. Included on the documentary will be commentary by all the members of VIO-LENCE (going back to the Death Penalty days) as well as comments by fellow Bay Area thrashers Exodus, Death Angel, Forbidden and many others. You'll also hear from Bay Area historians Ron Quintana and Walter Morgan, as well as legendary band manager Debbie Abono and many others including comments from Vio-lence fans themselves. Expect lots of rare, unreleased footage. This is a DVD for the fans, made by the fans, tentatively scheduled for release late 2004/early 2005 through Megaforce Records.

Be sure to check out the US version, the inferior UK Solstice are doom metal. I recommend the first two tracks of their self titled opus, Transmogrified and Cleansed of Impurity.

DimebagDarrel: Soulseek is infinetly better than every other p2p program for finding metal. I highly suggest downloading it. Jmet posted a link a page or so back, I think.

Soulseek does seem to rule over all other p2ps.

Bartender: I thought they sounded kind of like nile, but not as good and minus the egyptian elements. So it was just like "meh". You know, mediocre.

Fair enough.

Scepter as in... ****ing Metal Mother****ers! Scepter?! If so, they rule! One of the coolest bands EVER. You can't be much more metal than they are.

I down a shot and a bottle of beer! Then I go for more!

The very same. That's the album I bought as well - how could anyone pass up an album called ****ing Metal Mother****ers?

Anything from the 80's, they're all great.
Rust In Peace from 1990, by many considered thrash's finest hour
1992's COUNTDOWN To Extinction is also good, although not trash.

The rest is, in my opinion, crap. Basically a bunch of forty-year-olds trying to sound heavy, lragely due to slick overproduction on the albums, although I enver did find anyone who agreed with me on this :D

Their new, not-yet-officially-released album is pretty good too, that could also be worth checking out.

But def. get Peace Sells But Whos Buying and Rust In Peace

2000 posts!!! Woot.

Arise: I think CTE is overproduced. All 90's Megadeth is very, very poor, especially that ridiculously bad Risk.

Arise: I think CTE is overproduced. All 90's Megadeth is very, very poor, especially that ridiculously bad Risk.

Well, it took me about a year to actually be able to enjoy CTE, but then again, that's the only post-RIP album that I consider worth listening to. Both Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings had a few good songs on 'em (like Train of Consequences, New World Order, FFF) but it wasn't enough to make up for otherwise ****ty albums and (thank god, finally somebody is is agreeing with me on this) and overproduction. There's none of that raw sound that really good rock albums usually have.

Granted, pre-RIP had horrible production (esp SFSGSW), but the songs more than made up for that.

Of course, CTE had some **** on it too. Psychotron and High Speed Dirt are absolute crap, and to this day, I still can't take Sweating Bullets seriously. The lyrics are cool, but the melody is just laughable.

BTW, whaddya think of the new album?

manuscriptreplica

Sometimes, underproduction makes it better, more raw. It gives off a better vibe... a good example is the excellent Welcome to Hell... Abbadon's drumming really sounds like he is hitting cardboard boxes, the guitar sounds like it was run through a chainsaw, not an amp, but how good is it? I only listen to RIP and Peace Sells by Megadeth, as I feel they are their only good albums. I am still sticking by the fact that everything post-RIP sucks tremendous amounts of a ss. Especially Risk. What a crappy album that was.

I haven't heard the new album... I don't believe in downloading albums before they have been released. It's being released soon, or may have already been released, I dunno. I should check my CD store. Kick the Chair's alright, though.

Album to plug:

Repulsion - Horrified - The first real grind album, before Napalm Death was around, and before gore lyrics were cliched. Has a nice raw sound to it, and is full of thrashy goodness! I mentioned them before in this thread, I think, but I only got one response.
