MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE Files Counter Lawsuit Against DAVID ELLEFSON

Billboard.biz is reporting that MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has filed a counter lawsuit against former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson alleging that Ellefson on May 14 executed a settlement agreement in which he gave up his 20% interest in MEGADETH. Mustaine maintains that the settlement — which Ellefson alleges was signed under pressure and ultimately withdrawn — released Mustaine from all claims.

Mustaine's suit, which seeks damages to be determined, was filed in response to Ellefson's original action, filed July 12 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, which alleges that co-founding guitarist David Mustaine breached their long-running partnership agreement. He claims Mustaine wrongfully took the lion's share of the band's income (estimated at more than $200 million since 1984) for himself and cut Ellefson out of the band's music publishing and merchandise revenues.

Ellefson also says that Mustaine libeled him in an online posting. The bassist is seeking at least $18.5 million in damages.

I respect Slayer and own a few of their albums (Reign in Blood, Seasons in the Abyss, and South of Heaven) but they do get quite repetitive. Dave would make up for it and no matter how you look at it, a Slayer and Megadeth concert would rule.

Daft, but probably not too far removed from the truth. :p... Nar, he said it out of ignorance, so it is a bit silly. Eh, i've said more than my fair share of ****, but i NEVER make comments without a bit of listening first. Lmao, i think it's funny though, Dargon has no cds, and about 300 mp3s... Lmao.

Chuck was a **** good all round musician until around the time of human, when he tried for a more technical/progressive sound, and death slowly went downhill. (Although i do rather enjoy Individual Thought Patterns.) And his vocals went downhill too, they were absolutely terrible by the time that SoP came around. You can listen to the live CDs around that time and hear with that freakin naselly voice singing Zombie Ritual... It's just not on. :(

Anyway, before 1992, Death were ****ing awesome. I really enjoy listening to their first 3. Leperosy and Spiritual Healing are both excellent Progressive Death albums, being truely progressive not wasting time with meaningless farting around. Just continuing from one great riff to another. Oh, and scream bloody gore is still one of my favourite CDs. :D

CHUCK SCHULDINER: 'Zero Tolerance II' To Include Early Demo Material, Live Recording

Holland's Karmageddon Media (formerly Hammerheart Records) has announced plans to issue another collection of early demo recordings by late DEATH/CONTROL DENIED mastermind Chuck Schuldiner. Entitled "Zero Tolerance II", the CD will reported contain DEATH's first demo, "Death by Metal" (recorded in 1984 under the group's original name, MANTAS) and the follow-up recording, "Reign of Terror", also recorded in 1984. As a bonus, the collection will feature a DEATH live show recorded at the After Dark club in Texas during the "Spiritual Healing" tour in 1990, "with a lot of real and cool things happening during the show," according to a statement from Karmageddon. "And so far there is no cool live recording available from those early days…"

With regards to the status of the incomplete sophomore CD from CONTROL DENIED, Karmageddon said, "Maybe ask the Schuldiner family about that, we simply do not know and they still refuse to tell us, sad enough."

"Zero Tolerance", issued earlier this year through Karmageddon Media, featured DEATH's "Infernal Death" (1985) and "Mutilation" (1986) demos alongside previously unreleased demo recordings from CONTROL DENIED.

Dark Angel - "Darkness Descends" - from teh songs I've heard, it's fast and aggressive. Serious riffage here, and great intense drumming from Gene Hoglan. I'm sure you've heard of him. Think Slayer, but faster.

Testament - "Teh New Order" or "Teh Legacy" Good thrash. Nothing too innovative, but still good. Testament had a great lead player who's into jazz and his jazz trio now, Alex Skolnick. There's melodic solos, solid riffing, and above average vox. I guess they're compared to Metallica, but they never really made it big like them. Though to me, Testament > Metallica.

Coroner - "Punishment For Decadence" Techincal thrash here. I just gave it a listen a few weeks ago, and man did it own. Teh only problem with this is that teh vocals are too low in teh mix. And when I can hear his voice, it's hot.

Kreator - can't really say since I'm not a big fan, yet. But "Coma of Souls" (?) is popular among Kreator fans. I can't really comment on this album. But I can say that Kreator owns live. Germany has a great speed/thrash metals scene. So Kreator can't really fail to deliver that.

I hope this helps out a bit, sorry for teh vagueness however.

A four-minute video trailer for "Get Thrashed", the upcoming documentary profiling the thrash metal scene of the early Eighties and its impact on the music scene, has been posted online at this location http://www.getthrashed.com/media/trailer.wmv (Windows Media, 8 MB) (right-click and "Save Target As" and download the file to your hard drive).

Stop spamming

Frantic minds are terrified
Life lies in a grave
Silent death rides high above
On the wings of revelation
Multi death from chemicals
Arrogance has won
Annihilation must be swift
Destroy without destruction

Gods on the throne must be watching from hell
Awaiting the mass genocide
Soldiers defeated by death from a smell
Bodies lie dormant no life
Rising new souls on the lands where they fell
Demons not ready to die
Nothing to see where the sleeping souls lie

Chemical warfare

Artificial ****ing peace
Line up in a death row
Generals in their slow defeat
Diminished from this hell
Banished from the dying world
The lords of hell await
Dogs of war are helpless prey
To immortality

Gods on the throne must be watching from hell
Awaiting the mass genocide
Soldiers defeated by death from a smell
Bodies lie dormant no life
Rising new souls on the lands where they fell
Demons not ready to die
Nothing to see where the sleeping souls lie

Chemical warfare!!!

**** it up!

Liquidate
The torture kills the troops that try to fight
Terminate
Human pesticide bring days of doom
Mist falls
The deadly gas that brings them to their knees
Sacrifice
Steal the soul and send his corpse to hell

Hahahahahaha

Mummified regions lying in dust
Fall victim to this game
Petrified corpses bathing in rust
Taken without being blamed
Falsified spirits farther they fall
Soon they will join us in hell
See the sky burning the gates are ablaze
Satan awaits eager to merge

Gods on the throne must be watching from hell
Awaiting the mass genocide
Soldiers defeated by death from a smell
Bodies lie dormant no life
Rising new souls on the lands where they fell
Demons not ready to die
Nothing to see where the sleeping souls lie

Chemical warfare

The Alex Skolnick Trio is playing Toronto sometime soon... I can't remember when... maybe it already happened.

Heeeere comes the Metal Meltdown! Run For Your Lives! Can't Stop the Metal Meltdown! Noooo one survives!

My whole life is work built on the past...Time has come when all things shall pass...This good thing passed away <enter big dirty solo>

Best. Song. Ever. (imo)

Btw, what are all your favourite thrash stuff to play on your instruments?

Mine are the four horsemen, peace sells and poison was the cure. on bass.

Pity its hard to get tabs for the less popular stuff (DD anyone?)

I like to play Betrayer by Kreator, Tornado of Souls, Over the Wall, Practice what you Preach, Chemical Warfare, Captor of Sin, and tons of others on Bass

My advice for some bands tabs (since your a bassist) is that you can learn the bass parts of the guitar tabs

Holy crap, it's called hypocritical and a joke.

Thrashmaster! I know what you're thinking of now. Not too long ago in this thread, I changed my album from RiB to DD and said "I listened to DD a few more times today and think it's better blah blah blah" You probably confused that with me actually discovering Dark Angel.

We'll have to assume that then.

On a side note! I wrote a new song and I should be recording it soon, so I'll make sure I get it online for you people to have a listen to.

Oi Dargon, you still use MSN or what.

Hopefully Creeping Death sucks compared to their new album. That was quite good...

Hey, everybody!

I'm new here, so don't hurt me.

I wanna buy some Megadeth cd's, and I heard that they are being remastered. Some songs are even being re-recorded with new singing parts etc. Should I buy the remasters or get the old versions? Do the remasters change the feel of the songs at all?

Thanks

The remasters are fine, get Rust in Peace to start off with. And if you do go looking for originals..good luck I've been looking for like 4 months so I was very pleased when the remasters came out.

manuscriptreplica

^^ Just change your title to MX Titans of Thrash, then add your favourite album's initials. E.g. If my favourite was Master of Puppets, I would go MX Titans of Thrash MOP.

I like it when remastered versions come out... the originals always drop in price. I would recommend getting the Peace Sells... But Who's Buying remastered, because it has a new, 9 minute Peace Sells, which is awesome. Otherwise, stick to originials.

Andrew Harris, here's the rules for you to read if you're wanting to join. However, I'm not sure if they're the same or if they have changed.

With the new wake of clans on MX, myself and JMetallica (with help from k'!) came up with idea to create a thrash clan, with sub-clans of your favourite thrash albums. The name of the clan is Titans of Thrash(Insert Acronym of album) e.g Titans of Thrash(RTL). This will allow everyone to have their own individuality and tastes and opinions of their favourite thrash album, whilst still being in a larger group.

Anyone who enjoys thrash as much as the good people as JMetallica and I are welcome to join. Thrash includes, but is not limited to; Exodus, Megadeth, Testament, Metallica, Slayer, Shadows Fall, etc. Even Motorhead fall into this genre (they practically started it). NO FLAMING

As to avoid the massive "fan-boy-dome" that is involved with Metallica, people can select their favourite thrash album of any thrash band, and put the initials of the album in brackets. As myself and JMetallica are lazy arses, we have opted not to create an avatar, but just to adopt the title. KEEP THRASH ALIVE!!

ok I'm going to join now that's to megadeth here for being so awesome and joining before me XD

I decided since I've been leaving a few posts here and trying my best to keep the thread from going under, (not to mention to let thrash metal die either), I want to join too.

However I can't find a good album title...

Ok I'm going with "The New Order". It's one of my favorite thrash albums of all time. and yes

I am a Testament fan :D

They tried at their own death metal. It was just heavier than their other stuff, didn't really sound like death metal to me.

Any idea when the new Kreator album is coming out?
