Next thrash album, Show No Mercy or Hell Awaits?
Show No Mercy - More straight-forward thrash, Iron Maiden-style recording quality/sound.. good tracks, good solos. Altogether kickass.
Hell Awaits - Much darker, definately evil thrash. Great, epic songs. I don't like the solos as much, except for Crypts of Eternity and At Dawn They Sleep.. great solos there.

Show No Mercy for sure man!

Show No Mercy = Best Slayer album.
Sodom - Agent Orange - I don't really like this album, but its cool to have in my collection.
Coroner- Grin - If you don't think of it as a thrash album, and as a prog metal CD, you will like it.
Coroner - No More Colour - Haven't listened to it yet.
Mayhem - De Mysteriis - YEEHAW! I love this baby.
Grave Digger - Excalibur - Haven't listened to it yet.
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill - Not better than Coma of Souls, but still awesome.
Napalm Death Scum - Good music to kill someone to.
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends- What can I say?
Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh - It has Open Face Surgery on it...
i dont know

Sodom - Agent Orange - Sodom's best. Total thrashing madness.
Coroner- Grin - Big fan of coroner, but not a huge fan of this album. It tends to waffle on for too long.
Coroner - No More Colour - Excellent album, different to their first two; on the same level as RIP, not quite as good as PfD.
Mayhem - De Mysteriis - YEEHAW! I haven't heard this baby.
Grave Digger - Excalibur - Easily Grave Digger's most intense album. Excellent heavy speed metal. Modernish sounding, but still in the classic GD vein.
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill - Not better than Coma of Souls, but still awesome. Br00tl
Napalm Death Scum - like the mayhem, havne't heard.
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends- huh?
Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh - Eh, this style of death metal doesn't really appeal to me, but I could still see how some could like it, I guess. :p
Excellent haul.

The makers of "Get Thrashed", the upcoming documentary profiling the thrash metal scene of the early Eighties and its impact on the music scene, have announced that the DVD version of the film — due in early 2005 — will feature over an hour of extra footage that will not be seen when "Get Thrashed" airs on cable television this fall. An simultaneous international DVD release is also planned. "We are still working on an international television airing as well but as of right now that is [to be determined]," reads a posting at GetThrashed.com.
As previously reported, filming for "Get Thrashed" was recently completed and the show is currently being edited. Post-production should be completed this fall, with an air date and location to follow soon after.
"Get Thrashed", the brainchild of director Rick Ernst, a longtime freelance producer for MTV, will include interviews with METALLICA, SLAYER, ANTHRAX, EXODUS, GODSMACK, DISTURBED, SEVENDUST, TESTAMENT, OVERKILL, DEATH ANGEL, SHADOWS FALL, MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, STONE SOUR, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, LAMB OF GOD, VIO-LENCE, KREATOR, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, VOIVOD, CHIMAIRA, BIOHAZARD, FOZZY singer/WWE superstar Chris Jericho, SEPULTURA, KITTIE, THE HAUNTED, D.R.I., SOILWORK, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, HEATHEN, Brian Slagel, Jon & Marsha Zazula, authors Ian Christe ("Sound of the Beast") and Steven Blush ("American Hardcore"), NY metal radio DJ Eddie Trunk, "Radio Rampage"'s Ron Quintana, as well as unsigned thrash bands OSMIUM, CONCRETE COFFIN and VISCID.

Polish death metallers VADER were involved in a "serious car accident" on Monday (June 28), according to a posting on the band's web site. "VADER had just finished up the first part of their European tour and had been driving down A1 towards Torun (Poland) when the other bus hit them, throwing the bus out on the opposite lane. Cracked car, destroyed trailer, but fortunately the band, staff and equipment managed to escape unharmed."
As previously reported, VADER's new album, "The Beast", is scheduled for release on September 20 through Metal Blade Records. The first single, including two new songs, will be released on August 25 with the 4/2004 issue of Thrash 'em All magazine.
"The Beast" was recorded at Radio Gdansk Studio with producer Piotr Lukaszewski ("Reign Forever World", "Revelations", "Blood") and is currently being mixed while the band are away on the first part of their European tour. Jacek Wisniewski is drawing the album artwork and other graphics. The mastering session is scheduled for July 1.

That's the idea I think. It's so short - it's a half hour assault and then its over. The songwriting doesn't need to be as varied on Reign in Blood as it would on a double LP (had it been released). I think the additional tracks actually diminish the overall quality of this album: short it was meant to be.

I always thought Dave Berman of the Silver Jews put it best: "All my favourite singers couldn't sing". ****ing love that quote, but don't rat on Mustaine, his voice is perfect for Megadeth (even though I will say it again, I can't listen to one of their albums without spotting the weak tracks everywhere. I'm trying to think of someone new and just bordering on thrash... It's hard man... I could name off like ****in Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Sodom, Kreator, Testament, etc. etc. or I could be ****in original and pick someone you wouldn't think of, but would force you to say "yeah, ok...".
How much vynil do you own???
I wouldn't call Soilwork death... but that still doesn't mean I'm cleaning your ****ter RATMEE. May Angela Gossow eat your children! (not really :) )

SLAYER guitarist Kerry King recently spoke to Metal Edge magazine about the songwriting process for the group's long-awaited follow-up to 2001's "God Hates Us All"
"We've got twelve new songs, and we were playing before [drummer] Dave [Lombardo] went back out with FANTOMAS, minimal lyrics, but we got twelve songs that are 90 percent done. We just have to go in and record them. Then we come to find out that [American Records head honcho] Rick Rubin's deal is up again with Universal, and I will lay million-to-one odds he ain't there in two months. So for us to put out a record doesn't make sense right now, because if we put it out on Universal, they would have it for two months and they wouldn't promote it. Then, whichever company would pick it up wouldn't promote it, because it would have been out for two months, so it's just as well. But there might be another DVD with Dave on it, we are talking about that right now."
With regards to whether Dave had a say in the new material, Kerry said, "I mean, when [guitarist] Jeff [Hannemann] brings stuff in, they are on a drum machine, but I still record my riffs the way I did twenty years ago — I just put them on that same jam box, with a Radio Shack mic, because I am too lazy to get into the digital eight-track, and the drum machine. I know it's fun, I know it's easy, but I would rather take a tape down and say, 'Dave, here you go.' He is like, 'Really, I got an idea for that there.' I am like, 'Show me what you got.' I will turn him loose on it, because he might think of something I never did — he is the drummer. If it is just not floating, I will say, 'Well, this is what I had in mind, try this.' One or the other is going to be pretty kick-***."
Asked what the major difference is between and Dave and former drummer Paul Bostaph's drumming styles, Kerry replied, "Dave definitely brings something else to the puzzle — the way he plays is more rootsy and organic, and he is the guy that could just get up in the morning and play anything. He doesn't have to work at it, ho don't got to practice, he is a natural. So he brings things to the table that are so rudimentary, btu so cool. You would never think of them because they are so simple. He will bring something up like, 'Why don't we do this?' I will be like, '****, never thought of that…' He is more punky than Bostaph as well. Dave is big-time into the old Southern Cal punk, like all of us are, so it's just a different vibe. I mean, it was good, and 'God Hates Us All', with Bostaph, is probably Bostaph's crowning achievement. The next one, I think, is going to be like 'God Hates Us All', with a twist of 'Seasons [In the Abyss]' mixed in it, because Dave brings something else to the table. It is going to take awhile."

Drummer Nick Menza has officially rejoined MEGADETH, according to Nick's posting on the MEGADETH web site. "Yes, it's time to rock the globe once again," he writes. "After getting my head on straight and mending things up with the General [Mustaine], I'm very happy and excited to be back! I 'm very grateful to all you droogies who supported my return. Thank you! You won't regret it.
"I am in the process of learning the new material. It totally jams! I am loving jammin' along with it. Can't wait to play it live. It's gonna crush! I don't have any favorite songs yet. I've only had the CD one week. I like them all."
MEGADETH's new album, "The System Has Failed", is scheduled for release on September 14 through Sanctuary Records. The CD was recorded at Phase Four studios in Tempe, Arizona and features mainman Dave Mustaine alongside drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and bassist Jimmy Sloas. Additional lead guitar tracks were laid down by former MEGADETH guitarist Chris Poland.

First, yay Nick Menza is back!Secondly I was at my drummers house for the past 2 days playing guitar and **** with my band so i have't had a chance to follow up on telling everybody how good Van Halen was. So,first off they had an opening band that I couldve missed because they weren't that good.Anyways,an hour later we hear the intro to Eruption the lights come on,wham!eddie and the gang start off with jump. They than played another song i dont remember and poundcake which featured eddie using a power drill to play the intro on his guitar. After a new song or two Micheal did a "bass solo"which basically consisted of him running around and playing random notes on his Jack Daniels bass(possiby the coolest bass ever)Then he pulled a tiny bottle of jack daniels out of the bas and drank it with no hands(another mini bottle was tossed into the crowd later). Then the rest of the band came back for Somebody get me a doctor, but Sammy just walked around because Micheal sang most of it but its such a good song I didnt care.Anyways,Alex played a drum solo(which was really long but incredibly good).(That was basically the first half but some of the order was mixed up.Anyways then they played top of the world which I wasn't really excited by.Then Unchained, possibly one of the best Van Halen songs and they did it really well It was one of the early highlights of the night. Why can't this be love ended up with everyone sitting down,I took this time to talk to the guy behind me who added that I should headbang more during the second half and I agreed with him(my neck is still sore) anyways, then sammy played where eagles dare, good performance etc. I just didnt like the song.Deeper kind of love and seventh seal were ok,but eddie kicked the show back into high gear with a 8minute+ guitar solo, dreams was good,in my opinion one of the best Hagar era songs and it was entertaining. After dreams they started to pull out the big hits,as soon as people started clapping after dreams eddie started up the classic intro to Ain't talkin bout love and the crowd loved every minute(myself included),but the show was gonna get even better. They played right now(another great Hagar era song)with a kickass video to accompany it,they even changed it to say van halen are kicking *** in toronto:).Anyways, they left the stage after right now but we wouldn't let them leave so they came out to do encore number 1 dressed in Maple leafs jerseys(a gimmick but hey,it worked) they reappeared on stage and started into the familiar intro of their cover of the Kinks, you really got me.I don' think anyone didn't clap, scream,or give the \m/(I being a true rocker did all three)during the verse the guy behind us decided to lean over and hang out with us while we all sung along with Sammy. They then pulled out another gm when they played the classic Panama. It was absolutly flawless and more energetic than the studio version.anyways, they then let the stage again but we wanted at least one more song, and thats what we got when they came out and did the Van Hagar classic, when its love.
That was a breakdown of what happened during each song.Throughout the whole thing Eddie was full of energy running around, jumping, etc. There were giant video screens to show what was happening(I had good enough seats I could've been happy without them). My 2 biggest disappointments were that Hot For Teacher didn't make an appearance(i didn't expect it to though since it hasn't been played by Van Halen for like 20 years)and that Eddie only played the frankenstrat for 2 songs. All in all It was an amazing concert by an amazing band with an amazing setlist and I couldn't have been happier(unless my t-shirt had been cheaper)

For sure dude, I figured you were jokin, no harm man. I really can't wait to get some of our songs up there. We've been workin on a mix of covers and originals, so it takes a while. I guess I could describe us best as very similair in sound to Slayer, musically, but vocally it's very diverse, going from Slayer to Metallica to almost Death metal to even grungy vocals. I sing and play bass, and I like to experiment with my vocal capacity basically. I think it sounds cool though and a lot of ppl who listen to Slayer and all them say we're pretty good.

That's cool, I'd love to hear them.. as for my one-man-band, we sound a bit like Slayer/Kreator like vocals mixed with Megadeth/Testament style riffs, with some Sodom and Anthrax influence in there too.. i also put some Opethy-stuff and some black metal influence, mostly Bathory. I can't wait to get a full band together, I want to kick *** on stage.. life sucks.

I've got a new genre word to describe nu-metal, metalcore, and this new crap that just isn't metal. It is "aluminum metal". The diet coke of heavy metal. This can apply to bands ranging from Slipknot to Limp Bizkit to Avenged Sevenfold to Killswitch Engage and on. Basically, all the lame, crappy, talentless and extremely not-heavy stuff called metal will fit into this category. Aluminum Metal.

There are quite a few good local thrash like bands in my area right now including us, Black Kreek and especially Betrayer. It's funny, my band compares to Slayer, BK to Metallica and Betrayer sounds like Megadeth, and all are pretty good IMO. I know Ratmevilempire will back me up when it comes to Betrayer kickin ***.

I know this is an old post and i didnt even try to read it all (got up to pg. 20). I would like to join this Titans Of Thrash clan. I have loved thrash ever since i heard Anthrax Persistence Of Time when I was 11. I dont know if its been mentioned already but id like to go with Stormtroopers Of Death - Speak English Or Die. I know some of u will be like whos that, and others will say that album is so simple it cant be the best. i dont give a **** though cuz to me that album is pure ****ing thrash and nothing else at breakneck speed. Kerry King has admitted to liking this album a lot and I think it helped inspire Slayer To produce Reign In Blood, speedwise at least.

I don't know what to do with my hair! I want to grow it out, but I don't know what I'll do when it's mid-length, it'll just kind of hang there and I'll look like a skater. Any suggestions?
As for the new Dark Angel - It's called Darkness Returns and it has Gene Hoglan on drums and it's due this month and that's all I know.

You can't really call yourself a thrash fan if you haven't heard of S.O.D. It's funny, but not that great: there's only like 1 solo on the whole thing. But whatever. If they had proper song structures and solos on it, it would be one awesome CD.

I just read the article, I know Dave can be full of himself here and there, but I get his point, and I think that what happened to them sucks. Hopefully he can find himself some musicians who aren't gonna be dicks and can deal with his ego. Dave always felt like he'd been living in Metallica's spotlight all his life, and now is his chance to personally feel different. I mean, he hasn't been living there, and in the eyes of most he has been above them, but it would be good for himself too, seeing as Metallica no longer exist.

SLAYER's KERRY KING: DAVE MUSTAINE Is A Dictator - July 9, 2004
In a brand-new interview with Guitar World magazine, SLAYER's Kerry King spoke about the time he spent in MEGADETH as the band's touring/live guitarist. Asked how he thinks MEGADETH would have turned out if he had stayed in the group, Kerry replied, "I played their first five shows, and if I had stayed I probably wouldn't have lasted more than a year, because [MEGADETH frontman] Dave Mustaine is such a dictator and had much poppier ideas than me. It never would have worked. Jeff [Hanneman, SLAYER guitarist] and I used to go see METALLICA and be blown away by how awesome Mustaine was, so I was honored when the call came asking me to help him. But after five shows, I was like, 'I'm in SLAYER and that ain't going to change." That didn't go over too well."
