Yeah, Obituary are my fave Death Metal band. Slowly We Rot, Cause Of Death and The End Complete are essential albums. Very Speed/Thrash at times, but have brutal lyrics. Some songs to check out are....
Slowly We Rot
'Til Death
Internal Bleeding
Find The Arise (Demo version is better)
Intoxicated
Chopped In Half
Circle Of The Tyrants (Tom G Warrior!)
Dying
The End Complete
Final Thoughts
Buried Alive (Great Cover)
They have an Anthology out with basically all them songs on it. I;d suggest picking it up.

Yeah! and it has James Murphy on lead. The dodgy Techno/Death song is just a remixed version of Boiling Point from World Demise. Pointless remix if you ask me!

Obituary are a pretty awesome band.
Has anyone heard of the band Post Mortem? They released an album in 1986 that sounds like Obituary. I was just wondering if thats where Obitaury 'got their sound from' ?

Obituary started in 1988. Both bands took all of their sound straight from the almighty Celtic Frost!

Question for the Thrashers :
I don't like Pantera's high vocals.
But I do like the song 'Yesterday don't mean ****' and the vocals on it, from the album reinventing the steel.
My question is : Are the vocals and the other songs like that song?
And is it a good album?
GraveRobbersINC

Well anything after Vulgar Display of Power didn't have many high vocals on it if that helps at all.

Cowboys From Hell and Vulger Display Of Power do have the odd High vocals but Far Beyond Driven, The Great Southern Trendkill and Reinventing The Steel has Vocals just like on Yesterday Don't Mean ****. I'd suggest getting Far Beyond Driven if you don't like the vocals from previous albums.

Speaking of CD shopping, I think the world has something against thrash (or more specifically, against me buying any).
On my way back from an exam I was in the mood for thrash, so on the bus I thought up a list of about a dozen thrash albums I didn't have and spent 45 minutes or so walking around three different stores (two chain, one independent). They've got a reasonably impressive depth of death and black metal now, but almost no thrash. Between them they only had one album from my list that wasn't ridiculously over-priced (Coma of Souls, which I bought).
Anyway, anyone know an online store or two that's good for thrash? Preferably not based in America for postage reasons, but give me American ones anyway.

Recent hauls:

At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul - $28
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (yusss!!) $10

... they were better than i expected actually!
Motörhead was really awesome even though it was raining like hell when they were playing. They played really good, they blew up an amp and everything.
Priest was amazing. I wans't sure about how Halford would sing. But he screams just as great as on the records. They played all the good stuff (Painkiller, Hell bent for leather, the Ripper, Living after Midnight etc.) and Halford came on stage with his Harley, it was great! But you can really tell he's a faggot though. The outfits... gay!
But it was great nonetheless.

I tried to post this as a thread, but it won't work. I'll do it later. In the meantime, I'll post it here.
This is gold.
1. Get some death metal CD's, preferably brutal death (Cryptopsy, Cannibal Corpse, Deeds of Flesh etc)
2. Get a car with an excellent stereo.
3. Put the CD in your stereo.
4. Wait till Saturday night, at about 2-3 am.
5. Cruise down to your local main street, where all the nightclubs are.
6. Search for the most crowded nightclub (preferably one with lots of people lining up) and park in front of it.
7. Wind down your windows.
8. Crank the music as loud as you can handle.
9. Enjoy!!!

9. Enjoy!!!
Why main street, why not the ghetto :smoke:

Chris Poland isn't back...he just did one of the solos for Kick The Chair. I don't think the official line up has been made yet, as it's a Dave Mustaine "solo project" even though it carries the Megadeth name. Which is fair enough to be honest, seen as how he is Megadeth.

It matters what album of Celtic frost you are going to talk about, because some is and some isn't, The first three albums Morbid Tales, To Mega Therion and Into The Pandamonium are all a mixture of black, pre-death, thrash, and avant-garde metal so yes I would put them in the thrash catagory, then out crawled Cold Lake their fourth album, which was a lot softer, the music was not glam/hair metal as their image became, but it was much much lacking the aggression that it did. Everyone I know bashes this album to the ground, in fact even Tom Warrior said this album was crap, personally I like the music good even though it was a lot more mellow and their image sucked, next was a decent follow up was returning more to the older stuff, but not completly with the album Vanity/Nemisis. Celtic Frost, if you personally consider them thrash or not are still a really good band(one of my favs). So GO CHECK THEM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! A 34-second Quicktime clip of KREATOR singer Mille Petrozza laying down the vocal tracks for the new song "Enemy of God" at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, England with producer Andy Sneap has been posted online at this location (3.2 MB)www.blabbermouth.net/kreator2.mov . The veteran German thrashers are expected to record 12 songs towards the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2001's "Violent Revolution", tentatively due in the fall. "All rhythms are now complete, solos done and as of today we are six vocals finished, another six to go, Sneap told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "Mille flies home next Wednesday, I finally get a couple of days off, then mix and master. So it should all be wrapped up by second week in July. There's no release date from SPV just yet."

I can't stand Baloff or Sousa's vocals, to me they sound terrible, and thus I've never been able to enjoy Exodus.

Baloff really cannot sing, although his energy was imense, and that is what made him great. Sousa has that element to his voice that you either love or hate, (except in my opinion where i haven't decided yet)
Oh yeah, has anyone even heard of Mortal Sin?

I heard of them a couple of days ago, when someone (probably you) posted that you were going to see them for free.

"A short trailer for the upcoming BLIND GUARDIAN DVD is now available for download in BitTorrent format at this location.
BLIND GUARDIAN's live DVD, "Imaginations Through The Looking Glass" (view cover here), was recorded primarily at the Blind Guardian Open Air festival in Coburg, Germany last June, and will come with a bonus DVD, featuring interview and behind-the-scenes footage as well as additional live material. A June 14 release through Virgin is expected. "

Aha. Ahahaha. Ahahaahahahahaa!!!!
Sodom - Agent Orange
Coroner- Grin
Coroner - No More Colour
Mayhem - De Mysteriis
Grave Digger - Excalibur
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Napalm Death Scum
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh
hehehe. All of those were only like $150.
Anyway! I got an exam in 2 hours which I haven't studied for! Later!

I can't find Agent Orange anywhere, which is ****ing annoying. I have Persecution Mania and M16 and they are both class. I'm building up the collection, but I need Agent Orange dammit!
I wasn't to impressed with Grin by Coroner, but No More Color is class. That's a good list for $150....not a fan of Mayhem or Cryptopsy, but that's beside the point.
Think it's about time I checked out Lawnmower Deth.

ThrashMaster, goto this site: http://www.tripleu.org.au/freestuff.html
It's run by a metal head by the name of Kuz, who lives in Nowra (south or wollongong). He operates a kind of Mail order thing out of his garage, with most CDs around the $25 - $28 mark and FREE postage within Australia. I checked his list and he has Agent Orange in stock. He's reliable, cheap and quick. I suggest you order from him :D.... I think the list Manu just got what he ordered from this bloke.
Oh yeah, and he has a 4 for the price of 3 offer (I think). :D

Oh yeah, Everyone try to get Mortal Sin - Face Of Despair or any song from that album, fun and **** catchy thrash in the vein of Anthrax.
ThrashMaster27
06-28-2004, 01:39 AM
Sexcellent, I shall check it out.
Well I checked out Lawnmower Deth and the nearest band similarity I can make to them is S.O.D., but they seem to hate Billy Milano. I'm sure their song F.A.T. (Fascist and Tubby) was about him. Joke band obviously, but some of it's pretty good and funny.
Mortal Sin are great aswell, especially Face Of Dispair....mind you, I haven't heard their first album yet.

I´m bored,so I´ll comment ;)
Sodom - Agent Orange-great album,IMO,but a bit of a downstep from Persecution Mania.PM is simply more intense, brutal and sometimes funny.
Coroner- Grin-Urgh,not good. For a thrash album,I found this one exceedingly lame.Do not like.
Coroner - No More Colour-after Grin,I didn´t want to get another Coroner...
Mayhem - De Mysteriis-YEEHAW!I love this baby.IMO the second best Mayhem album, the best beeing Pure Fücking Armageddon, which is actually a demo, but, well,Ghoul rules all!
Grave Digger - Excalibur-only Grave Digger album I DON`T like.
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill-Second best Kreator album.I enjoyed this one very much and it´s still overloaded with heabangers after the 50-millionth listen.
Napalm Death Scum-Define grind!Complete ownage here, even if I find the songs a tad short, but hell,it´s grind,it´s supposed to be short!
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends-yes,it totally does :thumb:
Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh-dunno this one
