to clear that up :)

oomph! is a german band. they make the same kind of music like rammstein. they are pretty successful in germany right now. even though they started 15 years ago and they also were a big influence for rammstein.

max is the only soulfly member that was in sepultura. :)

Yeah i know oomph! is German, but that's really all i know.

And I know that Max is the only one who was in Sepultura. I was just trying to make a point. That even if half of Soulfy were in Sepultura, they still shouldn't play Sepultura songs! :)

i think 1 or 2 coversongs are ok

JMetallica

^^

Eh, i don't think it's right, unless ofcourse sepultura had of disbanded. Then it would be ok.

It's the same as Ozzy singing Black Sabbath songs, and Halford singing Priest.

Yeah, it's just my opinion. I don't really thingk you should sing songs from your former band. Even if it were just 2 songs. Soulfy is a different band, with different members, and different music. They should do their own songs.

Yay.. me and Frank (drummer) are learning Hell Awaits.. I've been teaching him the drum parts and its starting to sound cool.. he just needs to get faster so that we can play past the intro riffs, and get into the verse and stuff.. so far we do all that in half-time drumming. But thats fine, I don't mind him learning as we play. I'm just there to jam anyway, I have no time limits or anything. I need to get some more guitar players and stuff tho, playing the Hell Awaits intro with one guitar doesn't sound as cool.. I'm just playing the Eb, E and A part, the rythym guitar doesn't exist there.

That song is Hell of fun to play (no pun intended), I know how to on bass.
It was back when Tom Araya's bass lines were good, now all he does is play the open E, I once distored my bass and started playing the intro at my school on our gym stage and I got kicked off, but it was cool. Hell Awaits is definatly Slayer's grand Masterpice

In his car, he has a random St Anger CD that has been there for like 3 months. we all stop and get out, and this guy is taking a piss on a tree, so I throw the St anger at him. He goes "I dont want it" and throws it down the street. Then I get it and jump on it, thus destroying it

Yep, it was great.

Yes, althought I like Chemical Warfare more.. we play Chemical Warfare too (drums halftime on that too for now).. that one is a little better to play with just one guitar too, doesn't sound quite as empty. Still, we need some more axemen..

Hey, just a question, why does Sepultura get grouped with Death Metal more than Thrash, Beneath The Remains is one of my favorite THRASH albums, so I dont understand. I really have not heard much of the stuff after Max left, Is it more Death Metal like?

They got lumped in with death metal because they were part of that scene. They wore Obituary tshirts, recorded at Morrisound, took death metal bands on tour.

There's a fine line between thrash and death anyway and Sepultura (on BtR and Arise) were not far off from death metal

No for beer it's 16. But you can get it anyway. they don't ask for ID or something. If you look 16 they will sell it. And I don't really look 14, so that wasn't a problem.
Yeah Slayer en deicide kicked ***. I I didn't like some bands , but meh COB, Shadows Fall, Slayer and Deicide alone were reason enough to go.

And as far as Sepultura goes. Thrash or Death, I don't care, they were never one of my favourite bands :\

Dito that. It's an all round fun song, but still manages to thrash the **** out. Lots and lots of riffs, just like the whole album. I think BtR is the classic example of how thrash should be done, Heaps of riffs, great riffs, lots of tempo changes, all thrown together just nicely. Schizophrenia is great too, but is just not as well rounded as BtR. Although, it does have my favourite thrash song ever on it. From the past comes the storms \m/.. you really cannot get much more thrash than that!

Because the thread is a sting operation - it's nothing about bands, it's about sting enforcing rules. Anyone who posts their favourite band hasn't read the thread, or the rules, so sting's banning anyone who has posted it. Look at all the status' of all the people who have posted bands; they're all banned.

erm i am not sure but it was i think dave wrote the song and when he left/kicked out he wrote it again but with his lyrics because hetfield probably put his lyrics over it. same with call of ktulu dave wrote that if you listen carefully to it then listen to hangar 18 you will be suprised

Dave wrote "The Mechanix" before joining Metallica. When he joined Metallica they then called it "The Four Horsemen" and again Dave wrote the new parts to it. As far as I know James Hetfield only wrote the lyrics.

This band isn't thrash, but I'm going to recommend them you guys anyways...I think you'd like them. They're thrashy at times, but they're more of a doom/heavy metal band. New band, but they would fit right in in the 80's. Catchiest ****in' band ever too!

I quite like the Probot album, I was listening to it on the bus today. 'Centuries of Sin', 'Red War' and 'Access Babylon' are all awesome songs. Cronos is still in fine form on the first track. There are some solid riffs, which fuse from thrash to stoner to a bit of death. Its by no means an incredible album, but coming from the man who created the abomination that is the Foo Fighters, its a good effort.

edit: Now that I've been able to listen to the tracks with vocals (can't really hear **** on the train with a8o), I know which tracks are which (going by a promo copy). The track with King Diamond is awesome, really trippy Sabbath going on. 'Ice Cold Man' is definitely one of the better tracks, some good stoner rock going on.

I disagree with nearly every single one of their stupid bullsh.it ratings. The only album they got right was the 5/5 on Reign in Blood. They are always like "this album is essential" and then they give it a 3/5. Huh?

Yeah, well you have to argue with everything so stfu :)

If you didn't put that pile of puke Benante in there, I wouldn't have argued! But noooo! You just had to go and do that didn't you?

Even when Charrrrrlie beats the beats that beat your beat, and the only thing harder is the smell of his feet, he's not beating much.

I just came back from my school's battle of teh bands. It went pretty well. My band was teh only metal band there, too bad we didn't win. :p
We played two covers and a original. Covers being Symptom of teh Universe and TORMENTOR by Slayer. \m/ Good night, I'm going to bed.

The fact that you don't like Anthrax may be a key decider in that. Charlie IS a good Drummer....his early work in Anthrax (Fistful Of Metal being Key!) and also his work in S.O.D. proves that.

Megadeth shouldn't be on MTV.

Speaking of Megadeth... new song on www.megadeth.com! They did Good Mourning/Black Friday, a good choice I say, and they have made it into a 9 minute epic. It's so good.

TESTAMENT guitarist Eric Peterson took a bad fall down a flight of stairs and fractured one of his legs in two places Sunday (June 13) at a club in Slovakia where the band were performing as part of their European tour. Peterson, who is said to be "okay and in good spirits," may require surgery. It is not presently clear if any of the band's European shows will be affected by Eric's injury. No further information is available at this time.

I like S.O.D. and I also like a Fistful of Metal, but I really wouldn't call that really good drumming. I mean, he's not BAD, but he sure as hell isn't good either!!

I hope Megadeth aren't on MTV... if that happens, then the resurgance of thrash will become a fad, and fads suck.

What's the difference between Soundtrack to the Apocalypse and the deluxe version of it, and is it worth it?

I was tempted to buy it today, but it wasn't the deluxe edition so I thought I'd ask first (I got Human by Death anyway).

Griffin_Page
06-15-2004, 06:23 PM
I didn't know there was a deluxe edition. The only one I've seen is 80$, and even though I love Slayer, I own all their cds, and i don't think it is worth 80$ for some more live shows and stuff.. if I was rich I would, but I'm not rich :P.

GraveRobbersINC
06-15-2004, 07:33 PM
The deluxe edition has a live cd from the GHUS tour or mabye its a dvd, in any case, theres just more cool crap, if your really into slayer get the big one, but otherwise don't spend too much time on.

Reunited death metal legends OBITUARY have completed four new songs and are currently working on a few others. The material, which is said to be in the "classic OBITUARY" vein, will surface on the band's long-awaited new album, tentatively due in early 2005 through Roadrunner Records.

Formed in 1984 as EXECUTIONER (later shortened to XECUTIONER), OBITUARY are widely considered to be one of the most influential and groundbreaking bands in the death metal genre. After releasing several successful albums in the late Eighties/early Nineties (including the classic 1989 debut "Slowly We Rot" and its equally punishing 1990 follow-up, "Cause of Death"), the band announced their breakup, with John Tardy's disinterest in touring apparently a major factor, according to the Internet heavy metal encyclopedia BNR Metal Pages. Trevor Peres has since started CATASTROPHIC, while Donald Tardy joined Andrew W.K.'s band some time ago.
