Yesterday, I went to the Meteora world tour concert in Montreal, Canada, with my brother. In this concert, there were a few bands present: Story of the Year, Hoobastank, P.O.D, and Linkin Park.

Story of the year: This is a band I hardly knew. But from what I heard in the show, all their songs sounded pretty much the same. The vocalist had a nice voice, but he kept saying the same thing in every song. However, they were pretty entertaining, as they did many "mooves" and flips and things on stage. The crowd was not too into their songs though, until they played "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. At that point the crowd went wild and mosh pits started to form.

Hoobastank: They were better than Story of the Year. I only knew a few of their songs (crawling in the dark, running away and others) and they sounded very good. The vocalist is incredible, and quite humorous at some points. This was, IMO, the best of the three opening bands.

POD: Now, I absolutely HATED this band. All of their songs were identical, the vocals were horrid, the bass guitar was way too loud.. I really didn't enjoy this performance, all though the crowd seemed to enjoy singing some of their songs...

Linkin Park: Linkin park was AMAZING. I really really enjoyed their show. They played most of their songs from Hybrid Theory and Meteora: A place for my head, One step closer, runaway, points of authority, crawling, Don't stay, somewhere I belong, Hit the floor, faint, Breaking the Habit, from the inside, numb, nobody's listening, etc. And they also played My December :D and it's going down. During their entire performance, the crowd was in utter delight. People were jumping everywhere, singing to all their songs, it was quite an experience.

I would definately suggest this show to any Linkin Park fan out there, it's reallky worth it. My mark is 8/10, mainly because of poor performances from the opening bands.

PS: If you do not like Linkin Park, please do not flame me for going to their show or for liking them ;) thank you.

PPS: sorry if this is not a cd, but I wanted to post a review for this concert, and I thought this would be the appropriate place..

Call me dumb, but isn't this for CD Reviews, not concert reviews...?

EDIT: Ok, just saw you pointed that out yourself... But if you post it in here, you should at least really mark that it's a concert, not a CD. I thought you were reffering to the Live CD of LP.

Sounds like a great show, if they come to NZ I'll check it out.

Note: In the site forum they've been talking about concert reviews for along time and there's talk of a sub forum and in the meantime they've said put concert reviews here so don't worry.

there was a discussion a while ago in the mod forum about allowing concert reviews. The Decision was unanimous in favour of accepting them.

sounds cool, Story of the Year is a good band, but I think they need new material lyrically. Although the song Sidewalks is good and Story of our dying day is also another great song. Hoobastank with their new album is also amazing like The Reason and Out of Control, cool songs. POD and their latest album was pretty good, not as good as satellite though. errr sorry i was rambling off about the albums, i wanna see LP live, awesome stuff.

Maybe you should put (CONCERT) before you start the title. Just so everyone knows.

i will arrange the review list differently; I will make a CD section, DVD section, and a Concert/Venue section. Look for the new system the next time i update.

Question for sting-ray:

If I'm reviewing a band that a concert has already been reviewed for, but it's a different concert, do I use the same thread or treat it like a different 'album" and make a new one?

well if it is a part of the same tour, it should go in the original thread. If the concert is not part of the same tour/venue, you can make a seperate thread for it.

I went to the Meteora World Tour show in KY and it was great. Story of the Year which I hadn't really heard much of really blew it away for me. I didn't get to catch all of their set, but aside from LP, they were the best show there. They were crazy on stage, flipping, doing kicks, jumping around the stage, and never missing a beat! Hoobastank, while a good band, did nothing for me on stage. I was disappointed in their performance. The tracks were on par, but aside from the vocalist they were all pretty much just..there. They never moved and put on a good show. Same with POD. They had an impressive light show, and Sonny was all over the stage, but the rest of the band just basically stood there and played. LP blew it all away and were the best of the night. I've seen them in concert twice and this was by far better than the first.
