Please do not use abbrevations during reviews, it is quite annoying (e.g. go buy this if u dont have it) and also learn to spell. It is appetite, not appettite. It is rhythm, not rythm. There is also a letter called a G, it goes on the end of such words as 'boring', 'backing', and 'playing'. And one last thing, because I'm such an asshole,

Paradise city
Great song to sing along with  and great solo.4/5

how could you give one of the best hair metal songs of the 80's a one line review?

I'll probably be shot for this, but I can barely stand the album for more than a song or two. Axl's voice just annoys the hell out of me. The album has some great musical work, but then that guy starts screeching. Welcome to the Jungle is probably the band on a musical high, but Axl was on a musical low for that one. GnR would be 10x the band without Axl.

I think I could agree with the reviewer's score for Paradise City.

The song is pretty good, but it's also long, kinda repetitve, and frankly, not terribly interesting.

It's a good song, but it's not holy grail like you all make it out to be.

I personally like Mr. Brownstone. I thought it was a very opposite of boring. but thats my opinion. I thought your review was complete. it's hard to review GNR with out listening to them ALOT, and it's not like people want a HUGE review. I like this album

Love GNR! At first anyway. Review was a little weak, but unless you review music for a livin', then what can one expect. Still got the basic feel of what you were saying. As for the Hair Metal lable. Who cares! Every band that came out at the time that had long hair was lumped into a heep with every one else. If you look at GNR's early videos, they earned the lable. They were just a little heavier than the rest.

The CD by itself describes the greatness that could have been GnR its a shame the whole original crew cept Axl quit. For anyone that doesnt like Axl's voice obviously doesnt like hard rock or rock in general Axl had one of the most outstanding voices a great Frontman

Guns And Roses are a true heavy metal band. This loud and fast stuff of today is not metal. It is noise. GNR were a great band and when Axl finally gets it together they wil be again!

i have this album and id give it a 4.5/5 at least cuz it is that awesome!

there really isn't one bad track imo, but some are better than others, its got great riffs catchy solos and melodies, great rock record period

GNR were 80s blues influenced hard rock not glam or hair metal!

metallicamaniac16
07-28-2004, 10:40 PM
First of all (yeah, I know everyone has commented on this, but I have as well) Guns n Roses is not f*cking glam or hair metal! You can't say that about a band that goes out on stage in jeans and a t-shirt (except for the Paradise City video, but it matches the messege in the song). Then, for the people who say Axl's voice is annoying, go and listen to nu-metal or goth metal. There's some voices that will p*ss you off in a second. For the reviewer, I won't give you a load of crap like everyone else, but the song Your Crazy is incredible. Definitely a 5/5. It is short, but is nonstop, and very fast paced which I love. Welcome to the Jungle, in my opinion, is just one of those songs that can't be made any better by any means. It is an almost perfect song. I say almost, because nothing is perfect. This cd kicks major a**. Its one of those cds that you can put in and just let play through. If you don't have it, get it. If you don't like it, f*ck you. I also recommend their greatest hits album.

IMO every song on AFD is a stand out song, and it I believe that every song deserves at least 4.5/5 out of 5. Some of the songs you rate poorly have real great instrumentals and vocals going, and are just good to listen to.

This album is that great, i never skip any tracks to go to my favourite songs, every song is that good, every song is a favourite.

It's So Easy does not sound like Axl because... HE ISNT SINGING LEAD VOCALS. I thought that would be fairly obvious but for those who don't realise, Izzy does the lead vocals in this song with Axl backing.

And er i dont think you'll like the new Gn'R even if they do pick it up. Axl has been reported to turned the band into more industrial, electric music. That's why slash left. The others were either sacked, (or had a falling out with Axl?). I do know there is some bad blood about.

Whats wrong with long hair? I have a mullet

I think you're wrong - the liner notes says Axl does all lead vocals on that album.

I think you're wrong - the liner notes says Axl does all lead vocals on that album.

But you can often hear Axl's rasp-like voice in the background supporting the lead singing (im pretty sure it's izzy). But then again you can't be sure, but all i know is that the lead vocals does not strike me as Axl singing.

DesolationRow
10-07-2004, 04:56 PM
I like the album, but Paradise City certainly deserves 5/5. The reason people have called GnR "glam" is because, in their earlier years, they had the image. They lost it after the first album, no doubt Axl was pissed off about something. The inside cover for AFD shows them in their early days, in makeup. It's more noticably on Duff and Axl than anyone else, and Slash didn't wear any.
That's why a lot of people call them glam, I call them hard rock/metal. I think the extra wording is pretty much meaningless.
Excellent album. Wish Axl wasn't being as much of a psycho so Slash and company would come back from Velvet Revolver.

Review left a little to be desired, especially My Michelle. That was one of the better songs. While this is a good album, I dont believe it lives up to its hype. It has one of the most beautiful songs ever written IMO in Sweet Child O' Mine, and one of the most rockin in Paradise City. But I would have to agree with Hiroshimite and Iai on the "meh" part, and 3.5 is a more appropriate rating.
