Classic Canadian Rockers!
RUSH is:
Geddy Lee--Bass and Vocals
Alex Lifeson--Guitars
Neal Peart--Drums
Rush are commonly known as the "Canadian Led Zeppelin" and with good reason. a drummer comparable (and some say better) than the great John Bonham, a bassist who is comparable, and mroe overpowering than john Paul Jones, and a guitarist close to Jimmy Page talent wise. Led Zeppelin came around first and got more acclaim sooner. Aside from that, they are just plain great!
2112 contains 6 songs (the fiorst of which is 20+ minutes comprised of 7 parts) I will review it as a whole rather than separatley. (except my fav. 2 parts)
~Noticeable Tracks~
I'm only doing the best parts of 2112, the whole song is good, but these are the two best parts:
2112-Overture--4:33 of instrumental. It is indeed a kickass opening to the cd
2112-The Temples of Syrinx--continues directly after the overture and with the same tune. nice guitar work, and excellent dsrumming. bass is great too. often Overture and Temples of Syrinx are confused for separate songs, technicall they are, and tecnically they aren't.
2112 as a whole--
im not sure why this song was made this way. the lyrics are not connected that much, and aside from Overture and temples of syrinx, the music changes completely for each of the reamaining 5 parts. it's great, but not spectacular.
4/5
A Pasage to Bangkok--
the first song separate to 2112 (and all of it's subparts) has a very catchy guitar driven intro, and when the bass and drums kick in makes the songs very catchy instrumentally. the lyrics aren't catchy (except for the chorus) but all in all a great song, and very rememberalbe (sp?) awesome solo too!
5/5
The Twilight Zone--
ok, this is a good song, but in my opinion not a great one. not my least favourite on the album but close. the music is great and the vocals are great, but in my opinion....meh
3.5/5
Lessons--
catchy bass lines, good guitar over the top. Not their best work, but this song is definatley good. mainly driven by soft guitars and drums.
4/5
Tears--
an OK song, nothing overly spectacular. a good song nonetheless
3/5
Something for nothing--
quiet song, not too in your face, nice and good. Then it picks up into a good rtock song. great solo from Lifeson,m and Lee's bass work is phenomonal as always. Peart is great on drums too! great end to the CD
3.5/5
this isn't rush's best CD, however it still rocks.
