umm a few things:

1. Work on Tone
2. Work on lick after the tapping sequence.
3. Work on your bends.
4. A Backing would help a lot

but you can play it and i cant so props to ya for that.

mettalica is every electric guitar player's dream in the beggining, they are also very popular so they think it's a good start. better try some led zep black sabbath, deep purple ac/dc first. Mettalica is hard, very hard. I have 12 years of playing in my background and I still can't get THAT sound. Of course I can play the notes, but it's just not hammet. let it go. dig deeper, there are other bands that you can try.

i don't think it's that bad, every section of the solo is distinguishable and it was played somewhat up to speed, but ya, it's still kinda wimpy

Nah, it's a Slayer CD, Hell Awaits.. im a death fan too, but i love Hell Awaits.. such a great cd... listening to the lyrics its not far from death metal tho, it just has the thrash sound.

hey buddy, erm,ok listen, soloing is one of the great arts of playing guitar, but solos should not be played until totall profection and then people will be like "dood ur awesome, good job man" have u been playing long, from that it seems u haven't. bu ti x ur mistake, so many people pick up a guitar and wanna just play a crazy hard solo (metallica's "one" has the seventh craziest solo according to guitar world) ur picking hand needs a bit of work, it seems u only have about half the solo ther because u play it so fast, yes, the solo is a fast one, but it also has timing and rythmic value. but if u REALLY REALLY wanna continue playing solos i sujest u play them with the recording at the same time until u get the timing so perf u can't even tell the difference. ok those are my comments good luck dood c ya

Yeah I can admit I played alot worse than usuall but jeese that was harsh. For just over a year playing I don't think it was THAT bad

Thank you, It's nice to see some CONSTRUCTIVE critisism and yes I did mess up the end but I have a habit of just imporvising solos in the style of the player and not learning note perfect (takes too long)

I didnt really like it. The tone was way off and such, and its hard to get used to hearing that after listening to Hammet's version, nd improvising is fine, but I think thats too different. I wish I could play that well though. I've been playing for about 4 months now...

no joke...jeez...i thought guitarists weren't so rude and critical of eachother...some of you guys sound like cs players to a n00b...back off..it takes some serious practice and it'll come along great! you're off to a great start. keep it up and work on improving the quality of the solo now that you've got the notes down

It wasn't that bad dude. It had it's mistakes here and there, but at least you've got the right idea, y'know? Just keep practicing and work on your bends and you should get better in no time.

Seek and destroy - the version i posted (if thats what your reffering too) is just Em pentatoninc improvisation (scale starts on 12th fret)

I thought the tone wasn't that bad at all. It was a nice attempt, and it could probably turn out very well indeed if only the timing was worked on abit. Other than that I liked it.

A bit off topic, but what would you say was the harder solo: MoP or One?

not bad, but it could definately be better--and One is a hard-*** solo, too. To get it to sound like Hammett-thats nearly impossible.

I don't know the actual solo that well, but that sounded pretty good to me. Of course I don't have anything to compare it to so I can't point out mistakes and such. Not everything has to be played exactly as the original artist wrote it. If it did, what would be the point of doing it when you could just pop in the original song?

ok my friend has been playing for a little over a year and he can play that solo a million times better it was okay but you need alot more practice. o yeah the seek and destroy solo doent quite sond that great

Well I just say we get your freind an imaginary chair, and an imaginary guitar. Plug it in to an imaginary amp and let you imagine that the attempt made by this person can be bettered by a million times. Anyway good job man! You need to work on the bends to get them the step each time.

yes i will believe that you talk bs. As this person has posted this on the forum i don't believe he deserves to be roasted like a turkey. Alright his bends are sloppy but he nailed the solo. The question is whiplash if your going to criticise as strongly as that we want to see you or your freinds version up here, and i think that its going to have to be better tan kirk's to live up to its reputation.

p.s One mistake suttsy (if you would cound the 'you' instead of 'yourself')

It's pretty good I say. Your bends suck really. I like the tapping part and the part like around 23 seconds. The part in between was AWFUL. I seriously laughed.

I can't play it though so you rule. Work more on it and good luck! Good job man but it's pretty different from Kirk's...

OMFG- I just found this again.. after a whole year.. And u guys were far to nice to me... Now i realise why sum truthful people said it was so bad... Lol, at least it shows ur improving when u find crap like this... hmmm (hangs head in shame). I remember being reall proud of this at first, but now i'm like :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: hmmm
