The Mad Caddies are a band which not that many have heard of, but are definitely worth checking out. They have been around for quite a number of years and many of them used to be in "The Ivy League".
For those of you who have not heard of the Mad Caddies, they are a septet (that means there's 7 of them dufus) and their sound is a mixture of softcore punk, quite a big dollop of ska and even a bit of jazz thrown in for good measure.
Duck and Cover is the Caddies second album and their first on a major label. The album features a huge range of different sounds. From the manic 'Econoline' to the very laid back 'One Shot' and then one of my favourite tracks on the album 'Monkeys', which has to be heard to be believed.
The Caddies have quite a unique sound and I can't think of another band, which gets such a range of different sounds on an album and at the same time seems to be having so much fun. Most of the tracks on this album make you get up and start skanking with a huge smile on your face. You can tell that the Caddies had fun making the album and with a sound like theirs its very difficult not to.
If you are into punk-ska bands like Less Than Jake and you want to take it a bit further then this is an ideal album for you. If you want to see what all the fuss is about, then get your skanking shoes on and get down to the great sounds of the Mad Caddies.
Road Rash, Macho Nachos, One Shot
5/5 easily.
