The Mad Caddies are a band which not that many have heard of, but are definitely worth checking out. They have been around for quite a number of years and many of them used to be in "The Ivy League".
For those of you who have not heard of the Mad Caddies, they are a septet (that means there's 7 of them dufus) and their sound is a mixture of softcore punk, quite a big dollop of ska and even a bit of jazz thrown in for good measure.

Duck and Cover is the Caddies second album and their first on a major label. The album features a huge range of different sounds. From the manic 'Econoline' to the very laid back 'One Shot' and then one of my favourite tracks on the album 'Monkeys', which has to be heard to be believed.
The Caddies have quite a unique sound and I can't think of another band, which gets such a range of different sounds on an album and at the same time seems to be having so much fun. Most of the tracks on this album make you get up and start skanking with a huge smile on your face. You can tell that the Caddies had fun making the album and with a sound like theirs its very difficult not to.

If you are into punk-ska bands like Less Than Jake and you want to take it a bit further then this is an ideal album for you. If you want to see what all the fuss is about, then get your skanking shoes on and get down to the great sounds of the Mad Caddies.

Road Rash, Macho Nachos, One Shot

5/5 easily.

You lucky bastard.

Yeah, they are awsome in general and probably one of the hardest to define bands out there. Calling them ska ignores all of the other styles they play.

One of the best bands I've seen. My favourite song on this album is The Gentleman. Monkeys is one which always brings a smile to my face.

I seriously consider this album to be one of the best albums, of any genre, of all time. The combination of punk, ska/reggae and jazz, with incredible musicianship and songwriting makes this a truly unique album. This is defininately not just another ska-punk record, from the double-time dixie jazz of Monkeys, to the almost-hardcore punk of The Gentleman, by way of the latino-sounding No Hope or the laid back reggae of One Shot, this is possible one of the most stylistically diverse albums of all time, while always retaining that Mad Caddies feel. Every song (with the probable exception of aPathetic [does anyone like this song?]) is outstanding in its own unique way. However, by far my favourite track has to be the dark, scary, cello-featuring Medium Unwell, a song that I could imagine no other 'ska-punk' band ever coming close to creating. A truly great album that no collection is complete without.
