As an Amazon reviewer once said "You know you've made it when you're parodied by Weird Al"

Its True.

The Presidents made music that you didn't have to think about. They weren't trying to force any political message onto us or make us fall in love, cry or imagine depressing situations. Simple songs about subjects like animals, old men on back porches and pieces of fruit were what these boys sang about.

This album is excellent to escape the stress that more serious songs don't take you totally away from. The only other artist to truly achieve this would be "Weird Al" Yankovic. In fact one of their songs on this album Lump was parodied by him. Check him out if you're from Asia or somewhere that hasn't heard of him.

Anyway this album has all most of their big songs and probably their best ones. Peaches and Kitty were the ones that made them famous and of course Lump was so good the master of comedy parodied it.

The other songs are pretty good too. Buy this album and escape the day to day to music scene.

My favourite: Naked And Famous

5/5

I've wanted this album for seven years ever since "Lump" and "Peaches" were just music videos on MTV, and I was an impressionable young kid who liked Coolio. I must have it!

You really should get it. Kitty is such a good opener.

These guys do use 3 stringed Guitars and 2 Stringed Basses

^ So I've heard. Actually, most nu-metal bands only seem to use the bottom two strings on their bass anyways, so it's like the Prezes were ahead of their time, only good.

I know, but they may have helped to set the stage. Although I really doubt it would ever happen, I would love to hear Shavo from SOAD say "I only use the two heaviest strings on most songs, and I got the idea from The Presidents of the United States of America! HxC!"

What is the name of the Weird Al song in which he parodies "Lump?"

i should start off by saying the presidents were the first band i was ever a real fan of. theyre so different from any other band out there. they dont write about the typical being dumped or falling in love or "im a teenager and life sucks and i wont conform" and all that bs. they sing about fruit and candy and bugs for christs sake! i love it. this was another one i got on tape before i knew what cds were. i still listen to it back and forth and love every song. its such an off the wall album but its rock music just the same. i thought the best tracks were naked and famous (the way chris sings the verses gives it such a mellow feel, then he jumps into the chorus with almost a hint of spite towards "those lucky bastards"...) boll weevil (weevil has kind of a chaotic feel to it with the rapid and often hard to understand verses, especially the end talking about the sun shining outside, and i really like what the drummer does with it) and lastly i thought we're not gonna make it was pretty original. its kind of a joke of a song but after you listen to it, you start to wonder if maybe they were serious. this is a great album to just put it on, and let it play, with very strong opening and closing tracks. 5 out of 5 for originality if nothing else.
