Man thats some wiked $het.
The leads could have been louder during the solo, and it seemed to have too much high end, was static sounding.
How did u record this, in a studio?

The style of vocals are more like Carcass, but yea Cryotopsy......i guess is a bit like them.......well spoted.
Yea we agreed with you on the vocals, we wanted them to be louder but our budget was gone by the time we were to re-mix them, but thanks alot for your comment.:)

Well this recoding was done by Pete Brown (Anathema PinK Floyd Defecation) on a studio and we did three track on day and a half.
Leads were a bit ok to us but i guess we can sort that out now as we have our on Pro-tools (hardware & software). We keep that in mind. Thank's for your comment's.

I was very dissapointed because i thought "black metal" meant you were a bunch of black guys playing heavy metal (that would be really new and interesting to hear.) i only listened to one song and i wont say anything cuz i hate metal. the production was really good though. good job on that.

hmm...
I was very interrested in hearing, cause me and my band play some prograssive thrash or something like that
First of all, the recording isn't mixed very well. You guys need to work a lot on the sounding. No basses, the low-mid eq is totally cut off the track, which cuts the drive in the whole music. The guitars are messed up between eachother. All because of the sounding, so be very carefull. Just practicing the songs isn't going to get you to a good quality. After you lay down the tracks, the hardest job comes. Making the sound. And you have to work there.
Second. I don't understand why do you call it progressive. By definition progressive means, something new, experimental never done before. These two tracks at least, sound to me very much like other black/death bands...won't say names here...
What I liked tho in the both of the tracks is the composition. That is an excellent work so no comments there. But I would like to have comments on the playing. You guys also need to practice some, you are not always in the same tempo. Also does it just sound to me or on the recording (When angels fall) the crash and ride is recorded in reverse, or was the microphone tweaked out to maximum on those parts ?
I would say that titanium souls is a very good song.
Anywayz, overall it's a good job, with the above mentioned comments...but then again who am I to judge.
p.s. for those who missed me on this forum...I'M BACK :)

Honestly, that was pretty good stuff.
Compliments
-Wasn't very repetitive
-Good Vocals
-Good Guitar Work
Not-So compliments
-That woman's voice in the background during a few of the verses of one of the songs
-I don't like the drum sound, either turn them down or give them a different sound
-Though the vocals were good, it sounded like I was hearing the same thing over and over again.

First I want to say thanks for your comments.
Second: About all the non-compliments, we can take it, we do realy feel that there is alot to be done on the tracks , like Drumming.....alot of people comments the same.....but is a bit difficult to change them as all the track were recorded on Pro-tools and the tracks roots are on a DV-format so either we pay or we may is well get our on set-up (maybe).we do have one at the moment but is not the whole thing "if you know what i meand"
Vocals: we are happy with them, its realy difficult to get a good singer now a day's and all the hard work is done by Akatechon our lead guitar, it does sound like Carcass, so fits the style......but some more work could be done no doubt.
Hail.........

That was really great. I like the black/death metal sound without the obscene amount of "tr00"ness. Drums were heavy and the guitars had a really cool and heavy tone. Vocals were a good mix of Bodom and Black Metal style.
I also think that alot of the people here were to bitchy. This stuff is great, and props to you for writing this stuff.

i personally rather music that isn't as deathy, like metallica and megadeth, but i do listen to slayer cos i think they are pretty good.
I think you fellas have done a great job.
I dont like the vocals but thats not because they are bad, its because i dont like that style. But it goes with the music so leave it.

Just popped in to check this thread out......
Haven't read to many comments on the new mixes (by yours truly) but read the old comments on the studio mixes, all of which were fair imo, esp. the reverse cymbal thing....lesson learned, if you listen to the Fony Album, the same exact things going in, big dancy drum sound, weedy guitars. (same producer)
anyways, thanks for listening to the tracks...
As for our Guitar sound.....it's dead simple- analogue->digital->digital->digital, the key to a great guitar sound is not to live in the 1980's were they thought spending two days finding the 'sweet' spot on a cabinet, while putting the eq in a mid-scoop made any real difference.........
Anyways, if any of the denizens of this place live in the London Area, We're playing next week at the Fighting Cocks in Kingston, supporting Descent (voted best Unsigned Act by terrorizer two years in a row!)
and finally...on tuning.....it sure as hell ain't drop D! *spit* hehehehe
Cheers

I was finally able to listen to your music.....
Titanium Souls
Nice intro......
Decent recording, but wow... the bass levels are way up front & distorted...
Lot's of talent here...
Rapid fire chops, I would have like to hear the guitars mixed higher.
I am not a fan of the Death Metal low growl vocal style, but your singer does it well &
mixes it up a bit, so it is not so one dimensional.
When Angels Fall..
Good Church organ intro..
Again lot's of stuff to be re mied & masterd & it will come thru so much better..
Was this an older recording..?
Balances & levels are very different.
But a very good effort.
You guys are very tight...Lot's of hard work here...
In Searing Waves of Dementia
Solid track...
Approached differently, which I like...
Shows a lot of creativity...
Again, with a great Producer/enginerr & a large recording budget, you
guys could certainly be contenders...
Rock on..

Why should they leave the death metal names if they are a death metal band??? :p

Wow man what can i say...Thx a lot for the support. :)
We all played in different bands along the years, did many styles and well from Rock to Goth to Hardcore to Black Metal and anything that you can think of, but after all those years we came together, it take me two years to find the right people and most important friends that you like to be around when you were writing songs and having a good time (and that’s a must for every band) coz if you are around people that you don’t like you will never have a band that can produce and share equally; that is the way to have talent.......thx once again for your comment we really appreciate it
A BIG thx from DorEterna :thumb:

YES i do agreed in a small way with you BUT (and thats a BIG one)
Image is realy immportant in a band life, if there is no image there is no band and if there is no music there is no band.
Let me brake it down like this to you:
Metallica is a huge band now a days and they dont need image any more, but back on the days wen they played the gig F.U.C.K'M ALL now know as KILL'M ALL they were young and they had a Trash metal image for those days without it they may not be anyone today.
Bands like Cradle Of Filth Dimmu Borgir or even Mr Marilin Mason they all need an image without that they no buddy's. Music has grown in abig way and for you to come out of the egg you need to present your self with a good style, looks, good music, and like Flawlesxguitarist says:
Why should they leave the death metal names if they are a death metal band???
Well ther you have it, hope you dont find me to bla-bla-bla-bla but thats the way it goes.
Still a BIG F.U.C.K.I.N.G THX from DorEterna :thumb:

hey man no problem. Its completely true what you said, you can't get anywhere playing with people you don't like being around, even if your music is some of the best on the planet. Thats why so many heaps good bands have broken up. My band is jsut a very close group of friends who all just love heavy metal and as soon as we record a few songs i will see what i can do about posting them on here.

Doreterna - _Titanium Souls_
by: Jackie Smit (4 out of 5)
Of the two songs offered on Doreterna's first demo, the band sound at their most comfortable on "When Angels Fall", a track that combines the cold atmosphere of early Enslaved with the riffery and experimentation of bands like Borknagar and vintage Ulver. The more deathly title track is slightly less remarkable -- betraying the band's understandable lack of confidence and maturity. However, it is young days yet for this Guildford-based outfit, and judging by the class of material that they're already capable of putting together, I would not be surprised at all to see them picked up by a label in the not too distant future.

Nice list of influences there! I'm especially partial to Children of Bodom, especially Hate Crew Deathroll, Alexi really lets loose his Vai side... Dark Tranquillity and Hypocrisy are awesome too. I listened to a few songs by you guys, liked 'em alright. Definitely material that could go on a professional international release, something Cradle of Filth fans would love. Tell me, do you listen at all to Arcturus? Good stuff, I think you don't sound far from their general style, just a little less eccentric.

Tank’s for your feedback, glad to hear more and more people saying the same about our music, (Definitely material that could go on a professional international release) its been great to post here in this forum as you get people from all over the World and we all know that out there is many different styles that people like, and still it seams that we make a good impression on some people in this board, DorEterna is grateful to all the support that we have so far, and we are determined to conquer the Titanium Souls of true Metal Headz out there, and hopefully change the way the UK Metal is known to people.
Thank You

Hey dude.
I'm back. I came to see what was new in this thread and to my delight there was live tracks and a vid of titanium souls!
All good things to be said again, great stuff.
I love that titanium souls riff!
My latest news is that we had to play for almost an hour to entertain drama students at our school who came to see the drama people from our school. The crowd was only small but we got to play live all the same. We played 2 of our original songs and alot of metallica covers. We also played the power rangers theme.
Once again, when we record i will post our stuff.

No actually I wont call you a looser and it wont be on red or anything like that coz I don't have a reason to do so, I like very much that you are sincere
and you liked our stuff that's more than enough to us. :thumb:
The only reason I get on the toes of some people here is just for the simple reason that they like to talk s.h.i.t about bands going on about that they suck or there music is a waist of time, when probably (most of them) don't even know how to play an instrument and they don't have the slightest idea of what been in a Band is all about, how hard is to make it to the metal heads and how difficult is to get the right people in a band.
We like to be criticised but up to certain point; when some one say's well I like what you doing bout I think you should improve etc etc, that's ok.
But in the other hand when some looser say's; I don't like metal and I think you band is s.h.i.t coz you don't know how to play, ......f.u.c.k that we don't need to take that crap.
Once again thank you. :thumb:
