I all depends. If it's in class and I don't have a tissue handy, I hold it in a bit. Sometimes if I don't think it's going to be filled with snot I'll make it really big and loud.

i tried to hold in a sneeze once while eating a hotdog. i ended up with large chunks of hot dog lodged in my sinuses (or whatever the passage that goes from your mouth to your nose is called). it was very unpleasent.
