im thinking that is what my next guitar would be.
anyone have one? tell me what you think. ive been lead to beleive they have beautiful tone and sustain. which is what im after plus i love the shape of them.
also im not sure what falvour of tele to get.. at the moment im thinking of a vintage with sunburst look and without that cover over teh bridge. (cant understand why they are there .. maybe palm muting wasnt popular then.)
anyway any feedback would be grateful.
im prolly gonna go have a play of one in teh store this weekend

you have to make sure you know what music you want to play, because teles aren't very good for distortion and heavy music........

Let's be honest here, The Ataris are no Metallica are they ;)
I think the point trying to be made is that yes, you can use distortion with them, but it won't have that chunk most people want with heavy music.
I have a highway 1 telecaster in sunburst, I love it. I play distorted rock riffs and its fine with them. funk is very good for it.

Listen to Finger 11. Most all of their first 2 albums were done with James Black using a teleplus, so there.

I'm also not a big fender fan, but i think that the tele would be perfect for what you are lookin to do with it. Hopefully your test drive of em goes well. :thumb:

fender really need to get some new designs and ideas instead of just reprodicing the same thing over and over just slightly different. i do like teles tho!

In my humble opinion, Telecasters sound and play excellent, but I have a few complaints with them. First of all, I hate the three post bridge that many standard Telecasters are equipped with. They were designed mainly to save Fender money, and they're a pain in the *** for both tuning and intonating, although standard Telecasters may be equipped with standard six saddle bridges now. Second, THE ****ING NECK PICKUP. The things have practically no volume!!!
Other than that, I strongly suggest you invest in a Telecaster, especially considering the type of music you'll be playing. However, I suggest you replace the neck pickup with some other type of single coil or even a humbucker.
