I currently own a Marshall MG series amp head, 100 watts, and I don't like it. The tone I get from it is rather bluesy, and I can't seem to get a heavy rock tone out of it, and I plan to sell it soon. I have been playing about two and a half years now. While I do enjoy playing blues music, and ANY other kind of music, my main interest is hard rock/metal. I love to play on the darker side of music and I need an amp that can give me the bone-crushing tone I hear in my dreams. I also need to be able to not only get great crunching rhythm, but solid lead. I want the kind of creamy, compressed, sweet and soothing lead, that's real thick, full of sustain, and soaked with gain. I am not a very big fan of solid state amplifiers, and I actually prefer tube amps. Suggestions do not have to be in the form of amplifier heads, I would settle for a combo that has a line out on it as well, because I want to link it with my Marshall cab, which i have loaded with 4 12' Celestion speakers. Thanks to anyone who replies!!!!!

Mesa Boogie all the way, I dunno how it'd pair with your marshall speakers, but if you want hard distortion, get a dual rectifier or a Nomad, (Metallica use the rectifier and Sick of it all use the Nomad, there's a huge list of the artists on the site actually)

For amps, I suggest something like the Mesa Boogie Road King...you get all stuff you said you wanted in a guitar amp, plus it's pretty versatile and you can play pretty much everything with it. Get ready to spend a lot though.
Either that or your guitar pickups might not be best suited for hard rock/metal. Can't go wrong with EMG's.

Peavey and Mesa Boogie for the heavy tones.
