Whats a good basic sound card for home recording that can do around 10 - 16 tracks without getting problems?

your software should dictate the amount of tracks you can use
soundcard = just getting sound in and out of computer

my computers (both) just came with el cheapo soundblaster live
works fine

If you want to record multiple tracks at once you will probably hafta get a mixer first...it may be tough to record all those tracks without one. Actually there may be soundcards with many inputs...I am not sure, search around for some.

yeah...are you looking to record all at once?
or just lay them down one at a time?

there's a very good music/recording soundcard called 'Audiophile Midiman' If you look on ebay they cost around 150-200 bucks but people have told me they are good enough for computer recording.

SB Live's are good enough as well.

First, you're a fucking idiot

On topic, I've had an M-Audio Delta 66 w/the Omni I/O box. I've been happy with it for a couple years and definitely reccomend it.
