 | While Soda Stereo remains one of the most
important bands in the latin rock genre, is
should be noted that the band evolved from
being a police look-alike band to an
authentic alternative rock band. This
penultimate album shows how the band had
grown both musically and lirically from the
absurds and loose themes on their self-titled
debut album to the philosophical and more
serious themes introduced in cancion animal.
As i'm from Argentina i'll put the names in
english and in parenthesis in spanish
1. Initial Secuence (Secuencia Inicial)
This song opens the album to a new
perpsective, most of the album openers in
soda stereo's career are tipically their
catchiest songs. But this album is the
exception. The song helps to build the
experimentatation that is heard through the
album, cerati's lyrics are most deep than
before and this song is an example.
2. Take the Route (Toma la Ruta)
Probably the most heaviest song on the album,
but cerati's vocals are still emotionally
connected to the melodies of the song. The
lyrics introduce some existiencialist theme.
3.In Whirlpools (En Remolinos).
This can be one of the few songs in soda
stereo's career that doesn't follow a "pop"
formula, though not considered a hit song is
consider a respectable song in their fan-base
4. Zero Spring (Primavera Cero)
A standard alternative rock song. This is one
of the singles from the album and the most
comercially known from the album and the only
song in the album that had a music video that
it was filmed in the dynamo sessions.
5. Chameleon (Camaleon)
an estrange experiment in the album, not my
favourite on the album but has some "catchy"
vibe.
6. Red Moon (Luna Roja)
One of the few songs that soda stereo would
still played through the rest of the career
it has some of their "signature sound" but
with more experimentation.
7. Sweet Sahumerio.
Probably my favourite song on the album, it
has some psychodelic sound and it one of the
longest in the album, it is a pity that the
song didn't have the recognition that it
would probably had other songs. I would say
that this song has the best lyrics in all the
album by far.
8. Amoeba (Ameba)
Another alternative rock song, i think that
along Chamaleon is one of the most strange
songs in the album but unlike the other it
was released as a single from the album.
9. Our Faith (Nuestra fe)
The longest song on the album an epic fusion
between psychodelic with some shoegazing,
kind of a progressive rock song nature.
10. Chiaroscuro (claroscuro)
A fan favourite from the album and one of the
songs from the album that were played in the
last concert (along red moon and zero spring)
11. It Was (Fue)
Another standard rock song an another fan-
favourite, it has some similiarity to other
slow songs from their albums while not as
popular it remains a secret great song of the
album.
12. Textures (Texturas)
The last song of the album, has some
similarity with initial secuence but it has a
more darker sound.
Not their best album but is not their worst
this album helped to introduce the argentine
people to the alternative rock sound that it
was developing in other countries.
