Dzagoev scores again

great game so far, and those music choices.. we're really talking some serious shit here m/

I think Poland should put in Nergal for its headers.

But, yeah, very enjoyable match thus far.

Had Dzagoev in my fantasy football team.. before i replaced him with affelay. Im such a fucking retard

has there been any word on nergal's leukemia?

"Had Dzagoev in my fantasy football team.. before i replaced him with affelay. Im such a fucking retard"
I feel for ya
I considered Dzagoev before the tournament, went with Shirokov instead, who did get a goal against the Czechs.

Made 6 changes to my squad ahead of matchday 2

Yeah great match so far. Both teams with several good chances. Poles stronger than against Greece. Nice to see

Dzagoev's in my team . . . and he's my captain

Nergal shredding for the goal and there goes the riff.. and.. BAM.. nailed that solo! or something like that.

Agreed.

"Dzagoev's in my team . . . and he's my captain"
hate you so much

Malafeev is my captain so I hope he can keep this clean sheet. Ironically Polanski almost scored against him and he's in my team too.

Pentagon

Has Malafeev always been Russia's No.1? I sort of thought Akinfeev was, and so I went with him for the first round..

AngelofDeath

Very nice counterattack by Poland there.

Poland's equalising goal was great.

"Has Malafeev always been Russia's No.1? I sort of thought Akinfeev was, and so I went with him for the first round.."
Akinfeev is their #1 but he was injured most of the last season so they're going steady with him. I picked him in the first round, but by the time it came to transferring his price had gone down and Malafeev's had increased (whoever introduced that system should be shot), so it kinda messed up the budgets.

Yay, Poland scored. Once again don't get a clean sheet. Should've gone with Dzagoev instead. Fuck my dream team has been so unlucky.

YES go Poland go!

Is it just me or is there more going on in this game than in some of the last games combined?

anarchistfish
06.12.12
This game isn't particularly amazing but most of the games so far have been boring

anarchistfish
06.12.12
My fucking dream team aside, I'd be happy for Poland if they got a good result from this

rockandmetaljunkie
06.12.12
Nah i don't think so, it has some intensity and a few opportunities, but overall it is average.

Wolfhorde
06.12.12
"This game isn't particularly amazing but most of the games so far have been boring"
Sure, but which game has been 'amazing' yet? It just seems like there's actually some 'spirit' and something 'happening'. Most games so far almost seemed a bit 'lethargic'.

Wolfhorde
06.12.12
Granted, I haven't seen all games completely. From some I just saw the 2nd half time.

AngelofDeath
06.12.12
Well, it does seem like neither team is entirely complacent with the draw here. It's good to see both sides with some fire in their bellies, still creating some good opportunities.

Wolfhorde
06.12.12
Yeah, that's basically what I meant. It's definitely noticable.

anarchistfish
06.12.12
"Sure, but which game has been 'amazing' yet?"
Poland v Greece was brilliant to watch

"It just seems like there's actually some 'spirit' and something 'happening'. Most games so far almost seemed a bit 'lethargic'. "
Yeah well that's cos of the history behind the two countries, and that one is a host.

Wolfhorde
06.12.12
Eh, Poland vs. Greece was the only one I actually didn't see I believe.

Well, I don't think it's just history. The German team for example always seems a bit 'lazy' in the beginning, sometimes even to the point of almost seeming 'sloppy'. (which it actually looked like for Ireland)

anarchistfish
06.12.12
Germany are the strongest team in the tournament.

By the way is the Germany-Netherlands feud just to do with football or does it go outside of that like England-Argentina?

Shuyin
06.12.12
its too bad that Poland lost, they defended well and had the best chances, plus their goal was great.

but anyway if Portugal qualifies to the next round i hope they get to play with Russia since their defense is terribly slow.

henryChinaski
06.12.12
I bet there are some German and Dutch hooligans that think of WW2 when these two nations play against each other. Or maybe Germans are just mad Rijkaard spit on Völler back in the day ^^

xenocide.
06.12.12
We really would like to win tonight, but it's still a fantastic result for Poland. And very meaningful, 'cause Russians were completely sure they win. We just need to beat Czechs now.

xenocide.
06.12.12
"It's too bad that Poland lost"

wut?

Wolfhorde
06.12.12
There's actually not that much bad blood between the Netherlands and Germany in general from what I know. No idea if the history between the football teams gos further back though, might be - might not, depends on the players I guess. Last player really going to town I remember was Zidane and that was quite a while back.

Shuyin
06.12.12
nvm xeno, the damn meds are screwing me up already, great game anyway.

"By the way is the Germany-Netherlands feud just to do with football or does it go outside of that like England-Argentina?"

Relations between the countries reached a low point between 1941 and 1945. Generations of subsequent footballers would have had personal experiences of the occupation and murdered family members, so there is a very good reason for the rivalry, although obviously it's cooled a bit. Germany and the Netherlands were also the best teams in the world during the 70s, so it was all quite spicy back then.

BallsToTheWall
06.12.12
I can only imagine the vodka consumption between these two countries in this game.

phishing

Agreed. That game had everything, by far the best game of the tournament so far. I'm hoping Germany vs. Holland tomorrow tops it though.

Hostile Polish/Russian relations, street brawling, broken beer bottles, teargas, whats not to love tbh?

Wolfhorde
06.13.12
"Relations between the countries reached a low point between 1941 and 1945."
That's a pretty obvious one, though and there was not really anything I can remember in recent history that goes deeper than soccer.

Then again, I'm not talking about political relations. Solely what certain groups of people think.
"I'm hoping Germany vs. Holland tomorrow tops it though."
[geography-nazi] It's still the Netherlands, Holland is just a region in the Netherlands.[/geography nazi]

Fortheloveofmusic
06.13.12
Still top of the league. Ahh yeah.

But really, that goal from Kuba has to be tied with Pavlyuchenko for goal of the tournament so far.

Dave de Sylvia

"That's a pretty obvious one, though and there was not really anything I can remember in recent history that goes deeper than soccer."

Read an English tabloid when they draw Germany. Old wounds don't heal overnight, and in a lot of cases they morph into a much healthier rivalry, like the German-Dutch one.

The Polish goal was almost as satisfying as watching dem Russian hools getting watercannoned in the face in the Warsaw Old Town

By the way is the Germany-Netherlands feud just to do with football or does it go outside of that like England-Argentina?

Yes it is the war.

In Football Against the Enemy Simon Kuper writes that when Holland bt Germany in the 1988 Euro semi-final (I am doing this from memory so it may not have been that match) the Dutch said this was getting their bicycles back - a reference to the Germans banning bicyles when they occupied Holland during the war.

anarchistfish

Lots of nations were invaded by Germany though...

"Read an English tabloid when they draw Germany. Old wounds don't heal overnight, and in a lot of cases they morph into a much healthier rivalry, like the German-Dutch one."
Well, tabloids are also hyperbole multiplied with infinity and no standards. Ofc they don't but I doubt the relationship between the Dutch and the Germans is for example similar to the one between the French and the Germans. Also, in the whole of our history there weren't as much problematic relationships with the Netherlands as there were with the French and the UK.

13themount

Lots of nations were invaded by Germany though...

Yes, but we are talking about Holland and germany and I put forward a reason for the banbd blood between them. That lots of nations etc etc does not invalidate what I wrote.
