Two months of minimal releases and then every fucking label decides to dump everything in one week. There's some forward thinking.

ButcheredChildren
09.13.10
its like sputnik christmas!

RosaParks
09.13.10
I seriously think the "general users" list is broken or something.

Willie
09.13.10
ha ha. I've thought that too, but it's just the general users that seem to be broken. For all the diverse stuff that they claim to listen to, it looks like they listen to the same 8 to 10 bands every week. The only way you can tell that the list updates is because Opeth occasionally pops up at number 10.

greg84
09.13.10
I seriously didn't contribute to this list in any way.

RosaParks

Holy shit Autopsy!!!!!!!!

DaveyBoy
09.13.10
I'll have a review of The Script (or should that be The S cript) up by Wednesday. If I'd known sooner that Skunk Anansie were releasing an album on the same date, I would have swapped. May still get to Skin and the 3 other guys if I get a chance.

Willie

Damn it. Well, that turned out to be no fun at all. It wasn't there until after you pointed out its absence... so I posted it and lied.

DaveyBoy
09.13.10
Hehehe. $hit Dev, didn't my lack of knowledge of a new release from one of my fave 90's bands tell you something?

oh shit new black milk. hooooo rayyy

09.14.10
the general users last fm is a great example of how static and predictable the taste of the majority of userbase really is.

the same redundant threads and bands get discussed over and over and over again, it's like the site is 95% mindless drones, 5% people who are open minded and willing to discuss different stuff

bloc
09.14.10
I'm TRYING to spam Mind.In.A.Box as much as I can but damn it ain't even cracking the list!

SeaAnemone
09.14.10
lol what do you think this site is FOR porch, discovering new music or something?!

AnotherBrick
09.14.10
ya, i think out of the past year, i've maybe had 1 band on the users one twice. i thought that just meant i have bad music taste

theacademy
09.14.10
i don't think the Staff last.fm list is all that unpredictable. if you're going to give it credit for anything unexpected, its listening to weezer, and that's a pretty lame selling point...

also remember how many more users there are in the last.fm group than there are in the staff group

also remember Thrice made "Phoenix Ignition." Thrice is not a band its a religion.

DiceMan
09.14.10
Listened to 3 of the top 10 bands this week

THIEF
09.14.10
User top music is always leaps and bounds better than the staffs. I mean Lady Gaga? Seriously?

Huntthequattro
09.14.10
Would be nice to see a staff review of Robert Plants new album.

09.14.10
Bilal's Airtight's Revenge is dope.

I would love to see a staff review of this album

Fugue
09.14.10
Would be nice to see a staff review of Robert Plants new album. [2]

MUNGOLOID
09.14.10
haha, trey songz.

TMobotron
09.15.10
unless im mistaken, the top 10 artists lists are based on artists that have been listened to one time. In other words, it doesn't add up the total listens by all the users, it simply counts the number of users who have listened to the band at least once in that week. Which also means the user list will almost always look pretty much exactly like that.

Spare
09.15.10
you are not mistaken

bloc
09.15.10
Holy shit, if that's true then yeah, the user list will NEVER change. I actually thought it was just ranking the play count.

DoubtGin
09.15.10
nah, TMobotron is right

I may not listen to some of those bands in the top ten a lot but they occasionally show up when I shuffle
